When the king shads first came out I was fishing them for wipers during the winter and killing them. Bad thing was wipers pull like a truck and the plastic hinges could only stand so much abuse. I went through over $100 worth of them in a single day. Last Tuesday I was talking to my wife on the I-phone she got me for my birthday in April (despite my protest because of my mistake track record with phones). Well it was super hot and my hands were sweating so I tried to adjust my grip, slip, plop, almost $500 gone.... Not only did I lose my phone but my wife was mad at me when I got home!

Mine was a Winchester model 100 20 gauge. Shot lots of squirrels, rabbits, quail, and dove with it in between gun jams I don't have it anymore and I really don't miss having all my buddies shooting doves that were flying over while I was still trying to get a jammed shell out.

Small crawfish imitations on a shakeyhead or a weightless fluke have been really good baits for me for smallmouth in slower water areas on rivers. Ripping a hard jerkbait like a 78 pointer can really trigger them sometimes too.

Fishing has been pretty good around here despite 100+ degree temps for the last 2 weeks and water temps in the low 90's. It's way better early and late in the day but they'll bite all day long. I've been doing well with buzzbaits and jigs at night, swimbaits, shakeyheads, jigs, brush hogs, and squarebill cranks during the day.

Had a couple supplement blocks set out in front of my camera for 4 days. Went out to check it and my 20lb block was destroyed. They'd eaten almost the entire thing in 4 days. The best part was that my camera didn't get a single picture! It worked alright last year for a cheap camera but I put a nice new Moultrie camera on layaway at Cabelas that day. It sucks to put the time and effort in to try to get some pictures of hopefully some nice bucks and have a piece of equipment fail on you.

The target was a square probably 1 foot by 1 foot target. Hit the target, 5 points. Inside the big ring, 8 points, small ring, 9 points, bullseye, 10. We had six shots from a wobbly treestand from probably 25 yards. Only had to get 50 points to pass and I shot a 58 (only so much room in the bullseye ) Actually the one 8 point shot I had was because I'd already passed so I just tossed the last arrow at the target real quick because the treestand had already slid twice so I was in a hurry to get down lol. I guess a telephone pole isn't made to hold a treestand?

I use my cranking rod exclusively for cranks. I use a different rod for traps and another rod for topwaters and jerks. I use a 7' M/F for my traps for casting distance, hookset power on long casts, and to be able to rip weeds off my hooks. My jerk/topwater rod is a 6' 2" M/XF, it's rated XF but it really isn't a very stiff rod so I don't feel like I loose any more fish than I would with a slower action and the short rod is great for snapping jerkbaits and fishing topwater, plus it's light so my wrist doesn't wear out as fast. I don't fish many deep cranks so I only have one crankbait rod that's a M/M. Right now I have a Skeet Reese cranking rod, don't like it very much though, can't feel my bait very well. With a good crankbait rod you should be able to feel everything your bait is doing and it will help with your hookup ratio and keep more fish stuck and get them to the boat.

I really like the chart/sexy shad, looks kind of like that Skeet's magic color that LC has. As always, a very good looking bait!

I caught a ton of fish on the 3" banjo minnow, but that was when I was a kid and didn't know what a soft plastic jerkbait was. Get a hitchhiker trailer holder and screw it into the front of a fluke, crimp that onto the bend of whatever hook you want to use and it will do the same thing as a banjo minnow without the shame of buying a banjo minnow!

I like the Spro frog also, any color as long as it's black. Haven't tried the popping frog yet but once the water cools off a little and we get some rain to get the water back up in the weeds I'll have to get one and give it a try!

^That sucks, but it's true. There isn't any laws, at least around here, that say someone can't fish right on top of you on public water. Is it rude and wrong? Oh yea! but people still do it. You could try talking to them about it but they'll probably just look at you like you're and idiot and keep fishing. I'd probably walk over to where they were just fishing and start catching fish there instead.

Trying to get in on some hunting at a local community lake that has lots of houses around it so had to prove you were an accurate enough shot to kill a deer without taking out any windows or anything. My first two shots, yea I passed. I know some of you guys have to have done this before,anyone have any pictures of their shots? I think the coolest part was the fact that Brent Chapman was there shooting also and saw the shot. I'm sure he'd mop the floor with me bass fishing, but I held my own archery shooting for sure.

There's a similar picture of a guy with a elk down and a cougar that the flash catches in the background of the picture. It was comfirmed to be fake, I imagine that one is too. It's still pretty spooky though.

I have to agree with the others that said he's wanting the attention of his brother or possibly jealous of his brother. Maybe he feels that he's treated differently than his older brother so he does it to get back at him? Or he feels like his brother never wants to play with him. From what you are saying it sounds like there is definitly something deeper than just a kid being a kid here. If he won't tell you what's going on I'd probably get professional help.

You never did say what part of KS you're from? I'm in Shawnee and I'm assuming you're from the JOCO area since you're fishing Heritage. There really aren't many lakes in the area with good numbers of big bass, especially from the bank. You may be able to catch some bigger one from the bank at Cedar Lake or Olathe Lake but usually both of those lakes are pretty tough. There are big fish to be had with enough persistance in several bodies of water close by. A fishing atlas will help you a lot in finding new bodies of water to fish. Welcome to the sight!

Saw a lot of missed or lost fish in that video, bad hooks? Pretty cool looking bait though.

X3 on the Cavitron. Haven't had any problem with short strikers and it just catches bigger bass than any buzzbait I've ever fished with. Give me a 3/8oz black on black and I don't need any other buzzers.

Unfortunately didn't get to fish with him but I did get to help and talk to Brad Paisley for about an hour when I worked at Cabela's. He was a really nice guy and knows a thing or two about fishing too. He was nice enough to give me tickets 3 rows back from the stage for his concert that night!

I've been noticing a ton of wood ducks this summer. I'd love to get a drake wood duck mounted, they're such a cool looking duck . I got permission to hunt some wheat fields this year too. The land owner said he lost an entire field to the snow geese and canadians last year and wants me to shoot as many as I can. Already seeing good numbers of ducks and geese on the rivers too.

There are some monster big heads in the river but they are hard to get a shot on with the dirty water. All I usually see are the ripples from them filtering right below the surface and sometimes the white of the inside of their mouth. I shot one not quite as big as that one a few years ago, they pull like crazy on a bowfishing rig but they're so soft they seem to pull off alot, not that I really care if I land them, just as long as they don't survive the experience!

If anyone catches an I-phone in a black otterbox at Miami State lake let me know! I have the worst luck with phones. I had that thing for a whole 3 months before it took a dive out there Tuesday. Worst part is that it was my birthday present from my wife so not only did I loose my phone but my wife was mad at me for it. Fishing was alright out there, tons of small shad schooling and getting eaten. Most of my fish hit a black and purple jig along the piers or brushpiles or a black buzzbaits in the same places. I did have the biggest blowup I've ever had on a swimbait right next to the boat. Didn't see the fish but I'm thinking it had to be a catfish, either that or someone dropped a brick out of a plane while they were flying over. Glad to finally see a break in the heat a little bit this week, I get enough of the night shift at work, I don't need it in my fishing all the time too.

Bottom bouncer is a trolling weight with a wire arm out the bottom to keep it from snagging and a bent wire arm out the top to attach the worm harness. A worm harness is usually a double hooked spinner rig that you troll behind the bottom bouncer, it's a popular walleye rig. WBF is right that it will catch a ton of hybrids and every other species of fish out of Milford, if you have a boat to pull it behind. I would probably camp at the state park, it will be a little more expensive but you will have nicer facilities and you'll be on the north side of the lake, which means the wind will be blowing into the bank you're camping on. That should help with the bite with the extreme temps we have been having. The cove with the boat ramp for the state park has several good spots, in fact one of my PB 5lb smallmouth came out of that cove a couple years ago. The next cove over to the west of the boat ramp cove has one point that tapers slowly and then drops quickly into about 25 feet of water, I've caught limits of bass and walleye off that point. I've seen big catfish and lots of white bass and crappie caught out of both of those coves. Shouldn't be hard to bank fish either of them and I'm certain you will catch fish from that area if you put some effort into it.
