From what I've noticed, they seem to act very aggressively towards loud, shiny, and fast objects. I catch them a ton on chatterbaits.

You could try heating up the screw lock then twisting it on, seems to work for me.

I agree Costas aren't the only quality sunglasses, just a personal preference for me. I have researched, read, and tried on other brands as well. For me, the visual quality of the costa 580 glass lenses outperform everything else I have tried. There's a ton of other high quality manufacturers too though like you stated, some including Ray Ban, Maui Jim, Oakley, Kaenon, Smith Optics, etc, I'm sure the list goes on and on. If the Ray Bans work for you and you're comfortable, that's all that really matters. I really think I made the right decision getting contact lenses, so far so good . I also think I got a good deal on my Costas, I paid $180 for a brand new pair of $249 glasses. I ended up just buying a pair of regular 580 glass green mirror fisch costas. Thanks for the tip though. Me being in college, I'm not as loaded as you "old guys" .

Turns out my prescription power was too high for costa to make. I ended up getting contacts instead, seems contacts have come a long way since I last tried them. I hated them last time because I have a bad astigmatism, but with toric lenses, it's pretty nice. Good thing is that I will save a lot of money on buying a regular pair of costas!

I also am using cocoons at the moment, but not the flip up style. They have been working good so far, but I just wanted an upgrade and something a little less bulky on my face. The only problem I had when I used flip ups was that I didn't like how much light was entering from the sides of the lenses, I couldn't get a clear focus on what I was looking at. Not sure why an LCD display would be tough for you to see, what color lense are you using? I have tried just about every color and really like the copper color. Oh god, that would mean that I would have to get married for the first time..not that foolish yet! I plan to use my shades for everything outdoors. With it being sunny pretty much everyday here in Florida, I'm sure my investment will be worth it.

I've also heard good things about prescription Maui Jims too. I was really on the fence between the two, but from what I've seen and read, there is no comparing the optical lense quality of the costa 580g to any other lense manufacturer. I'll be sure to let everyone know how they turn out. Costa glass prescription lenses are expensive, that's really just the way it is.

I had been debating for the longest time whether or not to get prescription Costa Del Mars. I went in to my eye doctor's office yesterday and saw they were an authorized Costa dealer and have a huge amount of frame styles to try on. I tried on the Fisch style frames(silver) with the 580 green mirror glass lense...love at first sight! So I ended up walking out of there feeling $500 lighter, hoping I made the right decision. I was told that they will be complete in about two weeks. One question that I did ask my optician before I left was if they were the manufacturer of the prescriptions lenses, in which case I thought they produced those and sent them in to Costa to have the coating(s) put on. I was informed that Costa does everything at their factory, the optometrist sends my vision measurements in and everything is done there, which includes the prescription lense and their signature coating. I thought that was interesting. I'm hoping I made a good decision on my investment, we'll see. Anybody else here have a prescription pair, if so, how are they?

The Fat Max was designed to be a flipping worm (the tail doesn't catch), but of course you can always just texas rig it and fish it like a regular worm.

Good job, the dropshot starts with the first one. I think you'll be hooked .

I'm not really too familiar with the Miami area to be honest, but there's several awesome Miami fishermen here that I'm sure can steer you in the right direction. If I see a canal that looks good, the first thing I'm grabbing to see what's in there is my dropshot setup. Goodluck finding an area that produces, I'm sure you will .

You don't really need to do much with a buzzjet, just reel it in. That thing is just magic!

Try to get on a finesse bite. 1/8-1/4oz weight dropshot with a bait of your choice. Zoom baby brush hogs always seem to produce for me in florida canals. Just move the bait slowly, and not so much the weight. Cylinder shaped weights should help to reduce snags, as I also fish really thick weedy canals.
