This was probably me and my dad's last trip before the inevitable happens......cold weather and duck hunting.
We had friends go out there yesterday and kill it so we decide to come down there today. Full moon, southernly winds, and perfect temperatures with the water at 55. It was perfect..... till we got there.
The wind was so freakin rough it was unbearable at times. But, my dad stil caught some good fish. I say my dad cause i didn't catch didly.
Dad caught 8, and i had 3 fish that would of made it to the boat if i had realized that having 6 pound test florocarbon on a spinning reel fishing a Mississippi River Oxbow wasn't such a good idea.
I was using a spot remover stand up jig with a june bug zoom shakey head worm and was getting bites but it was to light of line. Dad was using a chartruese spinnerbait and a carolina rig with a black neon brushog going through freaking metal debris underwater and he was doing good.
All in all it was a good trip. Got to drive down there, drive the boat, and control the boat for a little while so it was a learning experience. Will add picture of my dads 2 top fish when he sends them to me.
Enjoy the upcoming holidays,
