Got the same problem with my dad. He says just buy the 20 dollar rods at bass pro and the tourney special reels. But, he is using Calcutta's and old Allstar titanium rods. He hasn't bought new rods and reels in about 5 10 years but all the stuff he has was probably worth 200 to 300 dollars a set up. The most I've spent on a set up is 190 which was a pro qualifier deal. But whatever I've been able to catch fish with his stuff but he hasn't with any of mine. I also got a job so hes not paying anything for anything.

Not surprised at all. I have the Bassmaster magazine he was on the cover of after he won the classic in a frame in my garage right next to my rods. He is a great source of inspiration to me and a great example of how to conduct yourself. Yea my goal in Life has always been to be like him (except for leaving this world prematurally). He is a prime example of how someone without much experience but with drive, determination, and pride could make their dreams come true. You watch the 94 Classic highlights and get a glimpse of the gentlemen he was. On stage after he won, Ray Scott said "Your a hamburger flipper right, that's what you do?" Bryan just replied with "I don't know, do I still do that?" Humility is a most admirable trait. is there anyway to find that video?

Just bought Gene Larew Hardhead Ike Shakey Heads Yum Sallemander Hags Tornado American Rodsmith 6'7 light finesse rod all together under $70 from TW. Parents are not mad I am surprised haha

Would these work well together and what length Hags tornado would work. I was thinking 5" but not sure.

Don't hold me to this, but if I do come that first weekend I will do a fish fry for whos there at that time. The only reason I'm saying don't hold me to it is that work may make where I can't go. If everything works the way it should go, at the time I should have a freezer full of crappie and will love to cook for you guys.
