  1. What's up guys, Its been awhile since I've been on here just stopping by to see how everyones doing.
  2. Hey guys, I have sort of a dilemma, I got college bass coming up and as of right now I am boat less. I had 7k saved up and Ive been trying to find what I want which is atleast a 20ft with a 200hp because that's what I'm used to from my dads. My question should I just settle and go smaller and if I do how different is it gonna be? Thanks, Austin
  3. Hey guys, Got my first college tournament the 27th of October on Ross, never been there before. All I know that it's a flat lake full of lily pads. If anyone's got any info it would mean a lot. Austin
  4. Hey guys, I recently found a boat that is technically cheaper for me to buy then to fix my dads. It's a 99 triton tr21 with a evinrude ficht 200. It's 7k and I think it's a good deal but i have heard horror stories on the evinrude ficht. If anyone has any input on this it would be appreciated. Thanks, Austin

  8. Hey guys, It's been awhile since i've been on here just wanted to let everyone know everythings going well. I leave for the University of Alabama (major in metallurgical engineering and minor in econ) the 17th and hopefully going to join the bass club if school doesn't get to hectic. Worked hard this last year in school finished with a 3.0 which was originally a 2.5 overall besides that just been working 45 hours a week as a janitor so i got pocket change for college. On the tournament end it has been ok; did about average throughout the season and had rough tournament this pass month but besides that just been trying to get better and learning as much as I can. College bass is gonna be a whole different level and I still need to work a little more on my boating skills but I think I am ready. Again thanks to all the old guys on here who helped me alot couldn't have done it without you guys. Besides fishing this forum helped alot on my writing skills and just communicating my thoughts with others. Thanks again!!! Tight lines, Austin Edit: Also uploaded some good fish pics from this year check them out
  9. I guess I am biased due to I use more than anything else but, personally I think you should try the carolina rig. If your just fishing bottom and no specific structure, it is probably the best search bait you can use as a beginner. For a start I would try a 1/2 barrel weight, red bead, brass bead, swivel, a 3 to 5 foot long leader, and a standard 3/0 worm hook in that order. You put the weight first, then the beads, then tie the swivel to your main line, and then tie your leader to the main line. Just remember sweeping is probably the easiest and best way to set the hook. Setting the hook upwards, with the swinging weight, may cause it to come loose. This is probably why some consider the T-rig better cause you really do not have to worry about the hook set. Also remember it is not just a deep water technique. You can through from 20 feet of water to a foot of water I promise you it does not make a difference. Good Luck, Austin
  10. The day before I made sure I charged the batteries, I put them on a tester and check they have a charge. I think what happen was I was trying to start the engine with the kill switch and I may had blown a fuse but I had power at first then I had nothing. The trolling motor was all my fault though I should of known to pull up before I got to close.
  11. Had my first tournament as a boater Saturday. Knew something was up when lights on the trailer wouldn't work. Got to the ramp and the motor would not crank. Put the boat in the water and lost all power. Apperently it was bad battery that I thought had been replaced but my dad had not put a new one in in 3 to 5 years. Trying to put the boat back on the trailer I broke the grummets off the trolling motor. I finally got the boat back on the trailer so me and my partner drove an hour back to my house, dropped my boat off, went another 30 minutes away from the lake to get his, and them drove back by 9 to finish the tournament. In the end we did not catch fish. This is just a day I want to forget. I'm rethinking becoming a boater right now....
  12. Not sure if this matters much, Obtaining and holding sponsorships has many different components to it such as (most things have already been stated but can not hurt to be restated) : being able to articulate your thoughts and words correctly, being able to back up your sponsor in anyway possible, going the extra mile such as asking to help when not asked, traveling somewhere to give a seminar or a speech when another pro staffer has to cancel etc. But one thing that probably gets missinterpreted sometimes is confidence. Confidence is one reason why I do not have any sponsors and why some others do not either. It could either be lack of confidence or too much confidence. It is ok to think highly of yourself but not when you can not back up what you say. My problem is lack of confidence. I do not want to try to help someone and then end up doing a bad job. I would love to do anything to help a company but I need faith in myself, the courage to ask, and the right words to approach a company which at this point I think I am lacking. Hope this made sense, Austin
  13. Cordova fish all over the place.
  14. Is south west the bank kind of across from carefree?
  15. Thanks man, I'm fishing Horseshoe Lake by the way.
  16. Hey guys, I've been fishing this certain area that I'm pretty sure has a few beds in it. It is up against a bank, in about 1 to 2 feet of water. When I was on it I caught multiple fish back to back but they were all males. What I am thinking is that they are building the nest and the females are staging. With the water warming I think they will move into position in a week or so. Only problem is the water clarity is stained at best. It isn't dirty but it isn't clear. Anyone have any suggestions?
  17. I mean I have to have a boat for college fishing. I'm already in a club as a non boater.
