  1. I'm still caught off guard at how light my Stradic CI4 is when I pick it up. The new Pflueger is sporting some pretty low numbers to.
  2. Sloppiness is a problem for me. I like everything smooth and tight....in short SHIMANO
  3. That's really what I wanted to know, if it had a little gold tint already. I've had a change of heart. I'm going to keep it and just see what happen's. I know it's expensive but I would rather spend the time it would take to package and ship it back, out on the water. 8-)
  4. Thanks everyone, especially that little bit of info about Hot Sauce and Shimano's. I guess I'll continue to use HS in my old Pfluegers but stick with the oil Shimano sends with their reels.
  5. I think I'm going to send mine back.
  6. 16lb. I mentioned it on TackleTour hoping someone can give me some insight into the matter. I know the color means it's old. What I don't know is if that translates into compromised integrity. I always try to buy line at stores that move large amounts of line to try to avoid getting old line.
  7. I just got excited by the sound of the UPS truck, knowing that my new spool of Toray SH Upgrade was finally here. My excitement was turned sour very quickly upon opening the package. The line is yellowish gold not clear like it appears to be in the pics of TackleTour's review. I've never used this line before so I may be mistaken but in all of my previous experiences with fluorocarbon yellow line means it's old. Old line is no good in my book. Especially, when paying premium prices for it. So, can anyone with some Toray experience or knowledge tell me if this line has a dingy tint to it or did I get an older spool?
  8. I bought the first Chronarch model ever made in 93 or 94. I just sold it on ebay a couple of months ago for more than a new Curado E costs. It was still tight, smooth, and quiet. It also casts farther than alot of todays reels. Chronarch=Quality The Jaguar of fishing reels
  9. Yeah, after pulling the sideplate and taking a few glances I think I'll let someone else(that knows what they are doing) tackle this. What do you charge?
  10. Ok. What about the bearings? I've heard of people taking the shields off of bearings, blowing the grease out, and putting oil in them. Is this common practice? Oil only for bearings. AFAIK, acetone bath until all old lube is removed and reoil after completely evaporated and dry. As far as I know????
  11. I think I can handle it. I've always done it myself. Was just wondering about putting oil in the bearings instead of grease...
  12. I have the oil that came with the reel. I just thought Hot Sauce was better??? Never heard anything bad about it, haven't asked either.

  14. Yesterday, somehow dirt or another foreign substance got in one of my reels. I am about to take it apart and clean it. Is Hot Sauce Reel Oil all I need to lube everything or do I need grease also. The reel is a Shimano Core 50.
  15. StrikeZone Shake Up Head worms Softest Hand Poured worm I've ever seen and are somehow as tough as a Zoom. :-? I also like Roboworms but they just don't hold up.
  16. I like everything about Invizx except it's stretch. It's enough to steer me clear of Invizx ever again. I was having some hookset issues earlier this year and narrowed it down to line. I knew I wanted to stick with FC so I checked out Tackletour's FC Line Showdown or whatever it's called. Sure enough, Invizx was by far the worst in the stretch department and also had the worst amount of deformity. This isn't all bad. It makes the line very soft for a FC and also allows for the use of a Palomar knot which alot of people will tell you is a no no with FC's. It's decent but the stretch is just too much for me.
  17. These just won't catch fish for me... 1-Paycheck Baits-The One...not from lack of use. I threw that thing into monster schools all summer. 2-LC LV500 3-Mann's Waker Elite
  18. Gander Mountain 10'' Ripple Worm. Just recently started using them but they are quickly becoming a favorite. Huge body, wide tail. It's a big boy and it's been landing big girls for me the last two weeks.
  19. I bought a used closed face Johnson Country Mile for kids to use that had Fireline on it. It worked decent but no better than mono. I've put small powerpro on a buddy's Zebco 33 and it hung up really bad. However, that reel is designed around ten lb. test.
  20. Same here. I have had the Alberto fail because I was tying it wrong by not coming back out the same hole. After I started tying it right it's been great. Make sure you have plenty of tag end on both lines so you can pull all four tight at the same time.
  21. Just out of curiosity, would the hi-vis yellow not work? I assume you want the white for visibility...
  22. Didn't get a chance to try it today. What was the biggest issue? If it has breaking or knot issues I'll just trash can it.
  23. This was still on the wall just moved down to the end. An employee told me they weren't going to handle it anymore. Could it be a year old....yes. Is it? Dunno. My Gand. Mt. is 90 miles from me so I don't get in there much. I'm going to spool up tonight and give it a rip tomorrow evening. I'll say this for it, it IS visibly smaller than Shooter Metan in the same test. Will it be as strong....we'll see.
  24. Just picked one up. Does anyone know how to use it? Basically the same as walking one on top?
