  1. Go to Tinboats.net and look for the sticky on decks and stability. Good Info.
  2. Get the latest version of the GPS CSx60. Download the free state topo from the webs and go...
  3. When Pappy took us to Ontario he took three large tackle boxes yet when bass fishing the three of us threw the same coachman jitterbug, all day long. Often he would tell me where to throw mine and follow up with not there; here! and he would catch that bass under the dock, etc. I'm still thrilled by top-water action.
  4. Getting back into fishing around 15 years ago and quickly parked my Pappy's old glass rods for some graphite #19.99 Shakespeare from WalMart that I still use alongside the lighter and 'better?' rods purchased since. Just saw the picture pop up from 10 years ago, PB SMB around 5 # that fought like it was 10#...on that $19.99 wonder...Standing on the back of the boat and could barely hold the tip above water. Took 8 or 9 attempts to get it in the net. Will my 'better?' rods do any better...
  5. Growing up Pappy took us fishing in Ontario [I was maybe 11] to a lake he had been fishing since the mid 40's. We would go days with three in the boat drifting along the shoreline throwing the same jitterbug. Two weeks. same lure, all catching fish...lots of casts and some days better than others. 40 years later that lure still works. Naturally I have opted to explore a few other techniques but limit my choices to one or two...
  6. Mine was a driveway queen long enough to end up on Google Earth. Sat for a good 6 years, carpet became a chia pet of various fungi. anything added that was plastic was UV exposed to to death but I liked the wide beam and saw good 'bones'. I was the first to respond within minutes of it appearing on Face Book marketplace and immediately put a Benjamin down, mush to the disappointment of the horde that followed. Stripped it, sanded and re-primed, re-painted and installed new carpet, rejuvenated the lights w/ new lenses and LED inserts and more and added a 3.5 Tohatsu too.
  7. Got back into fishing after 30 years and quickly found that the old glass rods N heavy reels from the 50/60's just didn't cut it. While Ihve upgraded a few, I started out with a $19.99 7' Shakespeare spinning rod from Wal Mart that is still my 2nd spinning rod and over the past few years most of the larger bass have all been on that rod
  8. I carry an anchor for real windy days but noticed the way the wind usually blows on the lake and bought a drift sock to slow down the effect of the wind to slowly cover the shoreline.
  9. Is the engine and boat kept outside, maybe engine in the water? Even with neutral VRS direct drive, the engine half of the trans is still trying to turn over in cold, thick gear oil/grease... That has to add resistance
  10. I use O rings, every time I pull a worm back out I use the hook to move the o ring just a little bit, after a year or so, if I didn't loose it in a tree, the worm will crack and I get out another...
  11. https://www.fishandboat.com/Resource/Habitat/Pages/LakeImprovementPlans.aspx Look under Carbon county...This has lake structure improvements for the whole state......
  12. I appreciate the distance problem VRS the river's need for a jet. I'm 30 min to an hour from 3 county electric only lakes and a large state park with a 20 hp limit. My closest river ramps are tidal and I would never go there. I picked up a 3.4 hp outboard for the 20hp lake and will look into the sections up river. The Delaware has a lot of flat water between riffles and rapids that would be fine with the 3.5 and a prop but fishing a variety would be as much of a trip as the lakes or more for a smaller area to fish for the trip compared to the big lake.. On the other hand I can drag it a couple of hours to the Poconos and use the deer camp as a base for more of the river and a bunch of lakes... Could the OP rig an wide beam alum with the ability to add a Jet and start with a low HP outboard for lakes while finding someone to show him the ropes with a jet on the river?
  13. i have the same trolling motor with a box full of replacement parts for 3/4 of it.
  14. I just added the hook 4 w/ GPS to the rear of my boat. Works great for depth, temp and GPS. I have an older monochrome Hummingbird on my trolling motor and it shows better fish/bait cloud returns for actual fishing but is useless when I lift the TM and start the gas engine. The hook series is really plug and play, comes with everything, all the wiring, screws to mount the base and transducer, even the in-line fuse holder and a 3 amp fuse including two wire nuts to add the fuse holder to the positive lead. One warning, avoid simulation mode, the directions really don't tell one how to exit the sim mode. I had to call my bud with the same unit, from the lake, the first time I went on the lake and he had to look on-line and text me back....
  15. the octopus hook has the point aimed at the eye so when you feel something start reeling and as the fish spits it out they still hook themselves....haven't needed to go through the gills in years
