  1. I have a good one but I was the person who got the other guys fish. One of my friends I go fishing with has never caught a bass so I usually try and help him more than I try to catch fish when he goes fishing with me. so one trip out I suggest he try using a crank bait all morning instead of switching lures every other cast. He took my advice initially but by about 10:00 he was bored with a crank so he hands me the pole he's been using and jokingly says "watch your going to catch one right now" and the very first first cast I made I got a nice little 2 lber. He wont ever let me live it down.
  2. Hi guys im local to casitas also I am over in camarillo its cool to see some people on here that are close to me. I have been fishing this lake for years and never caught anything from shore and I stil get skunked often in my boat. so I am probably not the best person to give advice but here is some anyways If you are stuck on shore next time you go I suggest you try the cove by the model airport and fish it with night crawlers as boring as that is. That seems to be what people have the most success on from shore. good luck
  3. I was at my lake yesterday and noticed a guy onshore using a rig I was not familiar with and he was slaying them. Today I was googling around and discovered it was a spinner rig, It seems like it is not a very popular largemouth bass presentation, so my question is Does anyone here use this rig?
  4. out of the two options you suggest I would prefer the second, but I would prefer, over anything else, simpler packaging that wastes less. like some of the spinner baits that only have tags on them. I think that when it comes to packaging less is more.
  5. I tried it on one of my rods but it was not as durable as big game that I usually use.
  6. I just picked up an older st croix spinning rod it is fiberglass 8'6" and has a fairly parabolic action. It says double power on the logo and has the model number 1103sp. I am wondering how old it is, what they marketed it as and any other information about it. thanks
  7. My idea is; If you tie a loop in your line large enough for the lure to pass through you could string your line through the line tie on the lure and then pass the lure through the loop in the end of the line to attach them together. You could use this like a snap swivel without the extra bulk and not have to retie for every lure change. Why will this/won't this work?
  8. you could be thinking of a criag cat
  9. There is a lot of energy stored in a fishing rod. This reminds me of one time i was practice fishing in the backyard with only a 1/8 egg weight tied on, I got it stuck in a tree and gave it a good ole tug to get it loose, it did come loose and flew directly into my upper lip. I could have easily chipped a tooth or broken the window that was right behind me. I'll chalk it up to a good warning shot.
