  1. A happy birthday to the bearded one!
  2. Any recent reports?
  3. Definitely a great achievement! Congratulations to the angler.
  4. Flipping, yes. But also skip under those docks. I learnt that from a fellow BR member. I was reading an article earlier today since it popped up on my Facebook feed: might be useful http://www.bassresou...ss_fishing.html P.S. There always are some, maybe a few, but still some, bass up shallow. They might not be the biggest (they usually aren't), but shallow bass are very often catchable bass.
  5. Caught a few "keeper" sized bass on a Spro Aruku Shad today.
  6. Me too! I like the idea and the design, but never got to test the theory, for the simple reason that I never caught a buzzbait bass.
  7. Nice catch for sure! If I were the fisherman, I'd claim that to be a 5 pounder,
  8. Looks great!
  9. I used to throw these almost exclusively at one time. Caught a bunch of big bluegills and crappies along with bass. The stock baits were not very durable IIRC.
  10. Fishing ultra-slow is a very productive technique, BUT, I have to have confidence/ know that there's fish where I'm fishing..
  11. That's the world record fish. The newer one I mean.
  12. Maybe they happened to read this thread!
  13. Three. That is the way I think too!
  14. What he said!
  15. Good stuff everyone. Thanks Bo, and J.
  16. Congratulations. That is a great achievement! Maybe you catch an even bigger one soon.
  17. I'm still a little fuzzy on who is going to get the jigs; rockchalk or I or both/ all 10 of us who like the page?
  18. I have a finesse version of that setup I use on spinning gear- 1/4 oz swim/ grass jig and a RI skinny/ big dipper. The deal is to have a trailer big enough so that it overpowers the jig head, if I understood Mr. Allen correctly.
  19. Thanks a ton guys. Hooligan, thanks for your input; A-Jay, thanks for posting Dwight's masterpiece. Stuff has been Ctrl C-ed and Ctrl V-ed without asking for permission!
  20. I was playing around with a Pointer 95 in a bucket of water earlier today when I realized that I could make it suspending, slowly floating or slowly sinking depending on the hooks I installed.. So I was wondering, when would you use a sinking jerkbait vs a suspending bait vs a slowly floating one? Also, when to use rattles and when not to? Not looking for specific brand info, just some general knowledge/ opinions; although the former would be appreciated, of course. I'm fishing for northern strain largemouths in mostly clear water reservoirs (visibility 10 ft plus). My apologies if this has been discussed before; in which case a link to the relevant thread would be great. Thanks for any pointers!
  21. 8.25#, back in November of 2010.
  22. Congratulations!
  23. Until two weeks back, 50% of my jigs were grass, and the other 50% were brush (and then I got some Nu-jigs, but I digress). To answer the original question, I'd use a grass jig in appropriate weight (not too heavy). I like backwater4's jigs, and also own some Siebert Outdoors jigs as well. Both are quality products, as are several other brands.
