  1. A shallow suspending jerkbait might be worth a try.
  2. It's not the "what", but the "where". Sorry if that sounded like a smartass comment, but from my limited experience of chasing big fish (bass), it's true. BTW, is your pond really a pond, or a reservoir? (Does it have a creek channel). Once you located the fish you'd like to catch; I'd suggest fishing there with your favorite baits, slower; and as often as you can during different times of the day.. Good luck. P.S. I haven't fished a lot this year (too much work); but the two 5+ fish I caught so far came on a jig and the bluegill swimbait you see in my signature. The only three baits I really need. Your mileage may vary.
  3. Slow-sink Mattlures albino Hardgill/ Mattlures MH swimbait rod/ Shimano Curado 301E/ 15 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Estimated to be in the 5 lb range, but feel free to post your guess if fish looks smaller!
  4. I like a slight nose down attitude on the pause (while the bait is suspended).
  5. St Croix sells (or at least used to sell) a crystallized glue on their website. Worked well for me the one time I needed to replace a rod tip due to the insert falling out.. I believe Mr. Frachot recommended that to me when I was doing the research you're doing now. I just used a cigarette lighter to heat the old tip to remove it. Be very careful when taking it out, (don't break the tip of the blank). Put some of that crystallized glue (it's powdered) inside the new tip top. heat the new tip top, and slide it on the rod so that it lines up with the other guides.
  6. So "bro", do share why you think the G is inferior to the B-series. I am very quick to get rid of reels I don't like; but I still got the 201G's I bought 4 months back, but I'm not a re el me chanic, just a fisherman.. P.S. Why is "re_el me_chanic" getting censored?
  7. Yes, it is.
  8. I thread the trailer onto the hook like we usually do, and embed the keeper onto the belly of the trailer to hold it in place. I don't like the design; tears up the plastic too much and doesn't do a very good job of holding the trailer in place, especially after a few fish. I like the jigs though.
  9. Promar LN 501B. ~$40 on TW. Works for Matt Peters, works for me.
  10. Lurecraft makes and/or sells some soft plastic paints. The ones I have are not spray-on (liquid, I apply them with a Q-tip), but maybe you can find something there.
  11. Baitcasters: Shimano Citica D (~$60 used) Spinning: Shimano Symetre or Sahara- older models (~$50 used)
  12. A guy I know from another forum caught a 8# in Oregon (2/3rd of state record)... but it was on a Trash Fish, not the Berkely bait.
  13. Wow good job PR! WTG.
  14. Might be of interest: http://www.mikelongoutdoors.com/proper-bass-handling/ Although most of us can only dream about the fish Mr. Long catches.
  15. Good job CP. Quick question: where are you finding "new grass mats" this time of the year?
  16. Don't give up on those jigs just yet. Check your PM box Felix.
  17. Aruku shad is a decent bait; picked up some McSticks after watching McCleland's (sp) videos on TW but haven't got around to fishing the later yet.
  18. Never caught anything on the big husky jerk, but I've caught plenty on the 128 size regular pointer and the 127 size smallie pointer.
  19. What's a pole LOL? 7'+ rod that loads a bit into the blank (fast/ moderate fast) with braid and leader. Spinning or casting depending on weight/ size of the bait, Straight braid leads to too many foul-ups for me. Despite what I've heard about the lengths of rod, I do just fine with longer rods. In fact, I own only one sub 7' rod, and that's my ultralight.
  20. A topwater like a spook or a popper if conditions seem remotely favorable.
  21. Lakes. Ponds can be fun too.
  22. What's the model number for the Endurance? Is it a 3 power or a 4 power. I have a couple of 753 Maxes, and might be of help regarding info on the Powells.
