  1. Topwater tonight. Caught a dozen or so, some hanging out in a foot or two of water. All on a Gunfish 115 that I got from @Bluebasser86 about 8 years back in a trade. Glimpse of some wildlife on the way back:
  2. I almost got a headache trying to find your bed(s?) lol. My first cast with the 68 yielded this today: Guess I will take it.. especially since it's the only one I caught. First cast curse?
  3. Oneten plus one doesn't discriminate.
  4. Right on! Good to see there's at least one good one still swimming around in that place. Congrats!
  5. Yep, today was a good day; until I ran out of rage tail baby menaces, and then the depthfinder battery ran out too, so I left them biting. Nothing really big, but I did catch a lot of fish, including some decent ones.
  6. So the fishing (catching) has been pretty lackluster the last 3 or 4 trips as far as quality is concerned. Tried different locations, depths, speeds; caught probably 60+ fish in all, but nothing over 2#. Can't really get out to fish early or late, and I guess the bigger fish don't want to play in the middle of the day. (That even rhymes ha!). Cookie-cutter: The other species are keeping me company though, so it's not all that bad. I'm glad everything out here eats jerkbaits. Big crappie: Citation perch:
  7. Got me a new rod, so of course I had to test it out. Only had a little bit of time. Rod (903C MBR) works great btw! And another one, before I had to leave.
  8. Fish from the shore or the back of a boat, and you'll learn the backhand cast pretty quick!
  9. Fished for a bit from the banks tonight, and caught a good one. Not sure how/ why I only catch decent ones from the shore line here. Of course, now I have to take the kayak out on Saturday, and will catch one dink in five hours (again!). Wasn't having much luck flipping jigs, and it was getting kinda dark. I tried a shallow jerkbait before calling it a day, and stuck this one. Stiff jig rod, light treble hooks, drag backed off, and timber around. Could have lost both the fish and the bait lol.
  10. I have this AcuRite thermometer with a 10' wire/ probe. I've tied on a small sinker to the actual sensor, and throw it out a bit, so that I'm not measuring the temperature of the water real close to the shoreline. Seems fairly accurate, and has been going strong for at least 4 years.
  11. One dink in five hours on Thursday, from the yak. Brutal. ~Eight more in about an hour and a half yesterday, from the bank.
  12. You even had a net. I think that jinxed you, lol.
  13. Cold, but at least it was not windy. So I did some more bank banging with a pocketful of jerkbaits. Caught about a dozen small bass... and some dinner.
  14. A little off-topic. Not sure how advanced your depthfinder is, but if you can mentally translate/ interpret the 2D picture (or a topo map for that matter) to/ as 3D, that will help a lot. Also, I have basic 2D sonar; and buoys are a very useful tool for me, usually deployed in pairs to mark a breakline I intend to back off and fish. Sometimes I'll throw in an extra one to mark a feature/ spot on the breakline.
  15. A little more "experienced" than @A-Jay's GP Pro Perch. I probably have 30+ different kinds (not colors) of jerkbaits, but here are the ones I like the best (top to bottom): Flashminnow 110 Pointer 112MR Vision 110 Type R Ito Shiner Vision 110 plus 1 Staysee 90SP KVD deep jerkbait Vision 110 plus 2. Have fun.
  16. Been a while. Love me some bluebird skies. Cold, and windy too. Fish were biting though. Too windy to take the kayak out, I walked the banks for ~3 hours and caught maybe 15, not counting quick releases. One rod, one reel, and two jerkbaits. This one was the largest.
  17. Been a month or two since I last fished. Caught 6 little guys and this not-so-little one today.
  18. Big mouth billy bass on a little brush hog. Also, I think I finally found a swing jig head that I really like for fishing vertically in different types of cover and then swimming the bait back. (Zman makes these.)
  19. Well done Minor. Slight change of plans, but we'll root for you in the 2020 Classic then I guess.
  20. Not quite what I was hoping for, but apparently Tiny Swimbait doesn't discriminate. Caught this one on a jika rig, and life was good. Had to sit out a couple thunderstorms, but still got rained on. Rain stopped, I stuck another decent one, and called it a day.
  21. Not sure about the BPS knockoffs, but Ken Huddleston's 8 inch hudds catch these.
  22. So I learnt today that: 1. A 6-pack of beer (cans not glass bottles) weighs roughly 4 lbs 13.5 ozs and that 2. My old Berkley digital with a 2 year old battery is still super accurate.
  23. That fish looks bigger than all of @EGbassing's 10 pounders!
