  1. Thanks Dwight. Appreciate the info. Could you compare between the 100 size Duo and the Pointer 95 silent, other than the rattles, that is?
  2. Nice ceiling fan bigbill. Where's the frog again?
  3. Can't find very many threads discussing these; or maybe I'm not very good at using the search function. Anyway, how is the action of the different sizes (100/110/120)- aggressive, subtle, somewhere in between? Specifically, where would you place these in the spectrum of Regular Pointer/ Slender Pointer/ Silent Pointer scale? I'm familiar with almost the entire Lucky Craft line, so if you could compare to one or more LC jerkbaits, I think I'll get it. Thanks,
  4. Braid isn't very good at transmitting vibrations on slack line. Don't bother to hold the line. With mono/ copoly/ fluoro; yes, it makes a difference. I don't care if you're fishing an NRX (I do).
  5. Matt Allen has a new video on his site about jig trailers. He talks about chunk-type trailers, beavers, DT grubs and rage-tail type trailers. Might be a worthwhile watch for some of you.
  6. Plenty of fish today; just wrong species and/or wrong size.
  7. "Let's go where we never been before" sounds like the title of a movie. I don't want to get banned, so I'll stop before I divulge the storyline. As for the rest of it; I have no idea what you're talking about, and I'm not sure I want to find out either. Merry Christmas BigBill.
  8. Awesome. If it's good enough for Tom (WRB), I bet it'll be good enough for most everyone.
  9. Punching, and a little on texas and florida rigs.
  10. 4.8; quarter oz swim jigs.
  11. Try PLine PF Original. Check the line diameter before buying (breaks closer to the stated lb-test than other brands). It's a copoly though. Also research Sunline Armilo (no first hand info on that one).
  12. So I tried it out today, and the dang thing SINKS. I **** you not! (On braid + mono leader) Water was in high 40s, and IIRC, warmer water is even less denser. On the plus side though, it sinks only about a foot every five seconds; so it's not a big deal. Casts super well too; further than a 112 Pointer anyway. Think I can make it work. Didn't catch anything on the 110; did catch a few on the 112 which I tried first.
  13. Bass, trout, bluegill, and some heavy metal just 'cause I'm too young to rock and roll.
  14. Killing them!
  15. I have a basic cellphone with Sprint. What are my options if I want a cheap smartphone (to check emails and forums like BR) and don't want to sign a 2-year contract? Thanks guys!
  16. I believe it has the same braking as the Curado I's. This is what I do with my Curado I's (different from how I set older VBS reels). Set the spool tension to take out the side to side wiggle (just enough, and no more than that). Set two inner brakes to ON. Set outer brake dial to 3. Cast/ pitch and adjust outside dial as needed. I thought the VBS couldn't be topped for casting distance and ease. Well, Shimano proved me wrong with the SVS. (For VBS Shimanos, my spool tension is set higher, and brakes lower. Took me a while to figure out what works for me). Good luck.
  17. Negative. It's a Lake Fork Flutter spoon, and apparently you're supposed to fish it like a texas rig. That's what I learnt from a couple youtube videos anyway. Never fished a casting spoon before this morning; lots to learn..
  18. Caught a few on a spoon and a couple on a jig earlier today. Mostly small and barely legal.
  19. Does the *stock* Alphas SV (103/ 105) cast regular size (3/8- 1/2 oz) baits any further or easier than most baitcasters? The answer seems to be no to the former, and a maybe/ yes on the latter? I sort of need another reel, but if the Alphas SV isn't all that great, I'll probably go with (yet another) Curado I and save a bunch of money. Thanks guys,
  20. Buy some lower priced rods and reels, maybe? Just an idea.
  21. If you like Abu Garcia reels, get the Revo. If you like Shimano reels, get the Curado. If you like Lews reels, get the Speed Spool.
  22. Buy a thermometer with a probe.
