  1. I can't catch fish because I'm stuck on the shore.
  2. Don't know. Scorpion dc reels exist though, just in case you're looking for one.
  3. Head style, line tie, weedguard thickness, hook gauge, shank length, hook angle... I'd start here:
  4. Don't know, but @Team9nine did some research on this.. http://www.bigindianabass.com/big_indiana_bass/mythbusting-10-of-anglers-catch-90-of-fish.html
  5. rate of fall Also, what changed between then and now? Other than the boat that is. Once (and if) you get off the banks, it's going to be a long day if you don't know exactly what (where) you're fishing and even if you do it might still be a long day... depending on the fish. (Not that beating the banks is usually an attractive proposition to begin with most of the year.) 1/4 oz rigs and 3/8 oz jigs are "standard" for me. Down to ~30 ft, and I usually don't fish deeper than that. I will experiment with different trailers/ baits and weights if the fish are not co-operating.
  6. especially with the information (knowledge?) at our fingertips, the electronics available... and the midwest finesse rig?
  7. Took out the yak to my "home" lake, and caught twenty or maybe twenty-five (didn't keep track) in about four hours; which actually is only about average here (unless you insist on beating the banks). Bunch of dinks, a handful of 2#, and two over 3#- one short and fat and the other long and skinny. @CybrSlydr Gotta get that yak bro, the fish are waiting.
  8. Location, depth, speed. Lures are just tools. Sometimes too much information can be detrimental.
  9. Maybe they don't want to come up and get your frog? Try punching. Some lakes are just not topwater lakes (as far as my skills go anyway).
  10. All my Curados (G, I, 71- and I have seven Curados including three 71s) can cast baits down to 3/16 oz (true weight) just fine, paired with the right rod. I don't have a need to fish baits smaller than that. I think you'll be fine with most 200 size or smaller reels. P.S. Low (almost enough to remove side to side play) spool tension and 50% or higher (depending on how aerodynamic the bait is) braking.
  11. Walked the banks for a few hours tonight and caught 8 or 10, all dinks. Forgot my jerkbaits, so the fish had a rather easy time. The biggest and the smallest.
  12. I have caught them shallow on it even in stained water, but at least the 90 size (I don't have a lot of time with the 80) sinks fairly fast which means you'll have to reel fast too. Matt Allen did a video on the duo and the jackall spinbaits. I seem to vaguely recall him saying something about fishing grasslines with them. Check that one out. Might give you a few ideas.
  13. I think it's rated for 1 to 2 oz baits. P.S. Based on my ebay/ amazon/ www digging yesterday
  14. Sounds like a very good reason to buy a bass rod now. Spinning, medium to mh power fast action, in whatever length you prefer.
  15. 1 oz = about 28.3 grams. Not sure what the GR part means... but there seems to be plenty of these rods @ 1.8 meters length on ebay. Any chance yours is ~6 ft?
  16. ^^ @fishnkamp fun fact. Shishamos got a 12 bearing handle. How about that?
  17. Not a whole lot, except that the usual spinning setup probably won't be very useful for punching/ frogs, and therefore there might be a lot of fish under the salad that are not targeted. I could be way off. I don't know where the OP is located. I do know for a fact there are a lot of good swimbaiters walking the banks of SoCal CPLs.
  18. Punching and frogs. You're welcome. From my somewhat extensive experience with the local small reservoirs here, 90%+ bank fishermen are not serious bass anglers and don't use casting gear (nor fish the right locations with the right techniques).
  19. If you're asking if an E6X Loomis and an NRX Loomis with the same specs are identical, the answer is no. The length, power, action, tip softness might be the same or very close, but the sensitivity, balance, weights etc are different. If you're looking to buy a new rod, tell us what baits you intend to use it for and the $$ you're willing to spend; and you should get some good choices to pick from.
  20. Lots of fish have been caught over the years on good old nylon mono fishing all types of baits.. just saying. A good spool of mono costs less than a good spool of FC too.
  21. Braid + leader should work well. 8# FC seems awfully thick and unmanageable for an ultralight reel. A line with a smaller diameter would probably cast further too. To answer your question in the title, I believe in using the lightest line I think I can get away with. Lures seem to have better/ more natural action.
  22. Breaklines (on the bottom) are edges of structures. Structure = distinct part of the bottom. A piece of structure has to start and end somewhere. Topo maps, depthfinder, dragging a jig. Sounds like a bottom composition breakline to me (at the very least)...
  23. Matt and Tim has a new video out. I thought it was fairly basic, but it does answer OP's questions. Look for *Where Do Bass Go In Fall And Summer?* Matt seems to prefer the terms "transition" and/ or "edge", I did hear him say "break" once or twice though. I don't think he ever used "breakline". Anyway, it's the same deal. Watch it @Buffdaddy54
  24. Haven't fished in almost a month... anywhere.
