  1. Used Curados, Zillions, and Revos until fall fishing last year. Now I use 4600's, 5500's, 5600's, 6500's, and 6600's. Even have a couple of the older 5000s. Even though I have small hands I enjoy using the Amb more, seems to give me more confidence in my fishing. Have given a lot of my low profile reels to grandson. Use the 4600UC the most for 75% of my fishing.
  2. DT 10 is a great crankbait. Have caught LM, Sm, Kentucky Bass, and stripers on it. I really do not see why it will not work in your pond if you fish it correctly.
  3. Rods: Shimano Reels: Ambassedeur Line: P-Line CXX casting Spinning-suffix Jigs: Dirty jigs Hard Baits: Rapala, Poes, Bombers, Bandit Hard Swimbaits: Triton Mike Bull Shad Soft Swimbait: Reaction Plastics: Zoom
  4. I switched to Megastrike last fall and am very pleased with the results. It works better for me than the other scents.
  5. Last spring I was looking at a KVD Tour edition baitcaster with the 7:1-1 ratio at the local Pro Anglers Shop. While I was handling the reel one of the lcoal pro's told me do not buy it as it will not last. This put me off a bit but purchased reel and have used it since kast spring. No touble or issues with it so far. Have Shimanos and Daiwas but see little difference in them. Of course the Quantum was over $100 more expensive than Curados.
  6. Always change my trebles on crankbaits, one size larger on belly hook and to Owner cutting points. It seems to really make a difference in hookups.
  7. Do not think it helps much. SoFlaBassAddict is right on about retieing. If knot is crap you will not be able to land a Bluegill with or without super glue.
  8. I do not switch hands as I am left handed and cast with left hand. I also put the cranking handle on spinning reels on the right hand side also.
  9. J Franco is there anywhere i can get one of those reels. also 119 does Jerry Foran have a web site or a Phone # where I can get in touch. Thanks Mike
  10. I have also been using the curado's, Core, And Calcutta Shimano reels. Also Daiwa Zillion and Revo Toro but have gone to Amb 4600, 5550, 5600, 6500, and 6600. Use 4600's for casting cranks, Worms, Spinniners, and all other except swimbaits. Use the 5500 & 5600 for these same baits some but mostly the 5500, 5600 and the 6600 for swimbaits. Admitley the other reels are a little smoother cranking but they will not cast futher and much lighter lures and I like the round style of these reels. Just have about relagated the more expensive reels to the rod box and in the rod stands in the garage. Just my personal preference and I may be foolish for using the AMB but I really like them for my type fishing. I feel they could be the most overlooked baitcasters on the market.
  11. Have the MH, H, & XH rods 7'11". I think they are great rods and really have the backbone to handle any lure or fish you get on. Mainly use the H & XH for the swimbaits. You can throw the larger cranks and 1oz jigs easily with the MH.
  12. Owner hook with cutting point.
  13. Have been using Megastrike but last month called a order in to a major tackle distributor and just asked what fish attractant they sold the most of and they said it was the KVD. Has anyone used KVD attractant and how does it seem to work, is it on par with Megastrike or does not seem as good. Thanks.
  14. Use Triton Mike's Bull Shad swimbait. 5" will catch more #'s but the 7 & 8 inch are for for trophy fish. 6" is a good all around size.
  15. I ordered one for my Amb 5500. Went on without any changes to handle or reel.

  17. Mono-Trilene XT Fluro-Bass Pro Shops XTS Braid-Suffix
  18. Missfit you will find that the Sexy Swimmer will break at the joints. I have broken 2 of them but keep buying them back as they will catch fish. There are times they will not work but when the fish are on that pattern I find they will catch fish nearly as well as the more expensive hard swimbaits.
  19. Try the 3:16 Mission Fish or the Minnow. Also good is the Reaction Strike Fathead Jr 5".
  20. Tackle Warehouse has the X-Tools X Grips Tourn Scales on sale for 29.99. They are normally over $129.00. The saleman told me they had them in the warehouse for 7 years and the batteries would not be good. He was right but put new batteries in it and checked it aganist some other scales and it was right on. It also has 7 tourn clips that are numbered with it. It is well worth the money.
  21. I received a Crucial Swimbait Rod 7'11" H action. To go with that an AG Ambassadeur 6500 reel and a large spool of P-Line CX green in 20 lbs. My grandson and daughter did a great job in selecting my Xmas present. Now if the weather will co-operate I will get to use it.
  22. I started fishing in the early 80's and due to professional obligations I had to stop in the middle 90's. I retired in 2008 and started fisning again. Started using my grandsons computer in July this year and found this site. I read it daily and when a bait is reccommended more than 3 or 4 times I usually buy it. The bait monkey sits on my shoulder 24/7 now and this month I have spent a small fortune on fishing equipment for myself and grandson. If I had to stop buying baits now I would have the withdrawal symptons that would require medication.
  23. I have also been using the Owners but now am trying the Mustad KVD trebles.
  24. X2 on what Sherlock said. Very good swimbait reel as I use 2 of them on Crucial rods. Also use the 6500 on my Crucial XH for the biggest baits. Look them over.
  25. Rob, do you have a link to the Lock & Haul. Thanks
