  1. Senko type baits Zara Spook Siebert Outdoor jigs
  2. Welcome from a fellow SC resident
  3. After doing a good bit of research on this site and others I spooled my setup with 17 lb Seaguar AbrazX.
  4. Got a PQ as my first decent bait casting setup. I'd recommend it to anyone because it has been near flawless for me and is tough to beat for the price. You could use the money you save getting the PQ over the Curado to put into a better rod.
  5. Chrome has been my go to. Truthfully I've caught so many numbers of fish on it that I haven't worried about different colors, but if did it would be the bone.
  6. My casting Carbonlite micro guide is awesome. Sensitive, light, and handles the fish well. I just got mine last Fall though so it hasn't been tested all that much yet.
  7. I just got a Clarus and paired it up with a Sahara 3000. Great combo and ended up pulling in my first two bass of 2014 yesterday afternoon. The tip has some nice flex to it and I can sling a senko type bait a country mile. Sensitivity was brilliant on the two fish I caught yesterday as I felt the bite all the way through the rod.
  8. That's encouraging to hear. I've heard so many good things about Lews products that I had to give it a go.
  9. Yeah I like the idea of a heavy duty handle, but the Revo S actually has a heavier drag at 20lbs versus the MG's 14lb. Having a tough time deciding between these two. EDIT: Going with the Lew's Tournament MG. Can't go wrong either way and I've been eager to try out a Lew's reel.
  10. If I throw an A-rig it'd be the smaller 3-arm one or one of the new Boo Rigs. I love topwater though so it'll mainly be a frogging rod with a chance to use some heavy jigs if a situation presents itself.
  11. I'm a bargain buyer, never pay full price.
  12. About to get one on these to put on a 7ft. Veritas or Ghost to use for frog fishing with an occasional A-Rig throw. I'll have 65lb. power pro spooled on as well. Just curious what you guys may like or dislike about the reels listed. Thanks in advance.
  13. You're going to hear Pflueger President over and over again. Great reel.
  14. Not many SC fisher's on here and most guys I know fish Hartwell more than Keowee. Got this off the DNR's website though.
  15. More casts into the water and let the rest take care of itself. This will be the first year of my life that I'll be able to really fish in the Spring so I'm pretty excited about that.
  16. While it does catch a lot of numbers, I also missed what would have been my PB last October. Likely 8-9 pounds and she flattened out the one treble hook that was holding her.
  17. Zara puppy is my go to and favorite bait. Walking the dog is also my favorite technique to catch bass.
  18. Appreciate the feedback. I'm going to go with the 17 lb. AbrazX since it'll be on a casting reel. I already have some 12 lb. YoZuri that I can tie on as a leader for my spinning setup.
  19. Looking at spooling a MH rod for fishing jigs, cranks, and spinnerbaits. Just curious what you guys thoughts were on the differences between the two lines. Obviously the InvizX would be a little more discreet, but I don't think I'll worry too much about spooking a fish when using the baits I mentioned earlier. I've also read that InvizX has a good bit of stretch as opposed to some other fluorocarbon lines. Haven't been able to find as much info about the AbrazX but if it's really more abrasion resistant along with being a little stiffer I think it'd be a good line to go to. Feel free to share any of your thoughts and impressions. Thanks in advance.
  20. Johnny Morris Carbonlite is awesome. Echoing many others in this thread.
  21. Great article on fishing with braid and opinions on whether or not to use a leader. http://www.in-fisherman.com/2013/06/12/finesse-news-networks-braided-line-and-leader-debate/
  22. +1 This is what I'm about to do in my kayak and I've read where a lot of other anglers have had success using this method.
  23. Kayak and a couple of my favorite baits. Also ordered myself a Shimano Sahara 3000 & Shimano Clarus with money I was given.
  24. I'm probably 3 or 4 days a week when it warms up. If I had to guess I'd say around 70 days out of the year.
  25. Just got my 5 jigs in the mail yesterday. Things are absolutely gorgeous and will probably get their first test run tomorrow afternoon.
