One of my great friends and fishing buddies fishes out of a polar kraft. It is his 2nd or 3rd one and the only aluminum boat he will own. He loves them and has been fishing out of aluminum boats for 20+ years. I have an aluminum boat, but did not go with polar kraft even though that it what I looked for at first per his recommendations. Not a ton of used ones around and the local dealer I went to was a jerk, so I actually traveled 2 states away and 4 hrs to pick up my new boat at a different dealership, and only save $100. But it was worth it to me to buy from someone who appreciated my business! You should check them out as well. They are much closer to you, right down in Alabama. Backwoods landing. With 13k budget you should be able to get a real nice tin boat!

ummmm....yes. But mainly they eat small forage fish, worms, bugs, sculpin, mudbugs, crawfish and smaller trout. Stockers generally will not eat other trout until they have been in the wild for a while and gotten the pretty pink hues to them and all of their fins are full. The easiest way to tell a stocker trout is their general grey color and most of their fins have been rubbed down due to the concrete tanks they have grown up in. At least in my parts!

I have been going at sun up, but not really getting bit until the sun is actually up in the sky and the water is getting direct sun light. Cant keep me away early, but if I had only a couple hours, I wouldn't get there until 9 or so this time of year to maximize my time on the water!

x2 on all of this, and as I forgot to mention structure, my number one "spot" for brown fish(smallies as well) are eddies! Big lazy fish staying out of the current and waiting on an easy meal!
Jeff
My suggestion is a ultra light spinning rod (ml) with 4 or no more than 6 lb line, while drifting either wax worms, red worms, sculpin, or shad. If you prefer the artificial route, I recommend countdown rapalas or little cleos. Be careful, brown trout are VERY addictive!

If you do take a boat out in the salt, use a common yard sprinkler to put under your boat and trailer and let it run for a couple hours afterwards! Will help was the salt off!
Jeff
He is awesome! I got a ton of my knowledge through talking with him as well as researching his builds! He is nuts when it comes to building boats, and if I could have afforded him/waited as long as it took, he would have modded mine a little more than I have it now!

x2! Always have 2 people on boat that are experienced enough to run the boat very well while on the river and especially with lots of water like now!
Live bait was used!
