Hi folks - I am having trouble with a finesse Carolina rig I am throwing on spinning tackle for smallmouth. The weight keeps wrapping around my line and swivel. It is just the few inches of leader line right around the swivel that wraps around the weight and swivel and twists up. Any solutions would be appreciated. Thank you!

fourbizz - do you use the football jig even in weeds like cabbage?

gobig - nDo you find them to be fairly snag resistant on the rocks?

This is driving me crazy. I can see the smallmouth cruising in and among the cabbage weeds in about 6 - 8 feet of water, but I can't catch them. Tried all kinds of topwaters and burned a spinnerbait over the tops with very minimal success. How would the experts/pros on this board catch these fish that are so visibly present. The cabbage weeds are quite lush and vibrant. Thanks a bunch for your help.

Purchased four packs of the Hud-Bugs. They look awesome and I hope they work for smallmouth. Now that I have the Bugs, can anyone tell me how best to fish them. I wanted to use them for smallmouth in and around the cabbage weeds. Are they relatively weedless if I hook them using a Gamakatsu weeless hook. Was hoping to drag them around the weed edges and even through the weeds where the big smallies spend the day. Appreciate any tips and advice. Thank you!
