  1. To add, was at Gander store today and got senkos for $2.50 a pack 50% off reduced price.
  2. An Okuma Helios reel had my eye on them for a bit now. They have rebate as well & with left over money get another 7'M/F Quantum Smoke rod for a 9.7oz combo right aroun $240
  3. Yeah the best $100 rods are the ones that are on sale for around that price. Last year got a Legend Elite, LTB, and Cumara for total all together of $345- oh and a Clarus for $30.
  4. No disrespect but I checked and at least one is sponsored by Seaguar so have to take it as pimp of the product to some degree. It would be nice if a person connected with a product would acknowledge the fact in their post.
  5. 8# PP and 10#S8S on my spinning reels never even consider going higher.
  6. You might give one of the hobbyshops in your area a try like Leisure Hour Hobbies they are big with RC vehicles that use bearings. I got 50E handle bearings at my HobbyTown there one near you about 1/2hr away. http://leisurehours.com/
  7. Here a test comparision on the Boca site http://bocabearings.com/dropin.aspx?f=Do-BOCA-BEARINGS-really-make-a-difference.txt&utm_source=BB_site&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=BB_make_difference
  8. If for icefishing I dont have any info I dont icefish sorry.
  9. Jiginfule what knot you using have you tried different ones? Im fishing like water & presentation you are no structure rocks just weeds and senko the like. All Ive ever noticed was right at the hook like 3-4" of line will fray after a few fish I dont use leader. Ive mention a few times in posts that with the nano knot I lost 2 fish that I feel the knot slipped but dont think the line actually broke. I have not had slipped knot issue since changing type of knot tied. Its not the easiest to tie but gets easier the more you tie it, give this a try just trying to help you Double the line a foot or so--run it through the eye twice-- and tie a Uni Knot 7 turn- cinch down leave 1/4" tag. I dont treat this line like braid with hard hookset powering in fish its a very thin line true to its pound rating this means playing the fish a bit more plus the rod I use it with is ML power Moderate action so it absorbs quite a bit of force. My personal feeling is most think of this line as a superline braid and fish it the same way which just wont work.
  10. Im a cash person. The bad thing is I used to carry tens twenties Im now needing to carry fifties hundreds yet not getting any more from what I purchase. IE used to fill up for $8-10 now $60+.
  11. Ive used it since it came out here some pro/cons Ive experienced Pros Line Management Sensitivity Casting Distance No Stretch Cons Finicky with knots need to experiment the suggested Nano knot isnt the best: Abbrasion resistance Price. though it seems to be lasting, so its not use for 3-4 months toss out type line Retie line more after 4-5 fish it starts fraying at hook area The retie thing some do this with any line as often but its needed, at least, with the 6# I use. For me the cons trump all the cons reasons are I use a better knot that gets me a little over 9# breaking strength with the 6# line. I dont fish where abbrasion is an issue. Price it lasts multi seasons. Works great on spinning reel no spray needed no coiling issues. The distance gets me to parts of the lake other lines wont I have caught fish I wouldnt have otherwise I use it with wacky senko, small cranks, nightcrawlers.
  12. I just tried Rage Rig vid and Shaky Head vid on Chrome & IE worked fine.
  13. I have a 7' M/F Smoke think its a great rod. If Quantum will replace it do that if not yeah return it. Even at a good price shouldnt have defect like that to fish with.
  14. I just got my 3rd 2013 catalog today one for each "office"
  15. Both. On calm days(15mph under) its thumb one brake light spool tention. On windy days use the brakes more like 2 or 3 if get a 20+ head wind.
  16. Op Op Op Oppan Wacky style
  17. Depends on make, model, lure rating and its characteristics. I have a BPS Pro Series Crappie rod that is 9' Light powered but feels more powerful (backbone) than my Med-Lt St Croix Avid 8' rod. Ive caught plenty of bass with the BPS rod even out of somewhat thick weeds.
  18. I have one of those. I toss it out set it down and right next to it have a Lenend Elite tossed out. The catfish, carp, sheephead dont know which one they are going to bite on.
  19. My Quantum Smoke rod at the low price of your range holds its own against my Croix rods. My 7M/F is 3.4oz , well balanced with light reels (5.9oz), handles 3/4oz lures. Its microguides though arent for everyone.
  20. SPRO http://www.spro.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=192 StrikeKing http://strikekingapparel.com/products3.asp
  21. I still have a bunch got'em for 50¢ a pack finesse worms, zero, lizards at walmart some years back.
  22. I like lighter powered rods but with 1/2oz-3/4oz jigs I use MH SC Premier or Shim Clarus. You need to factor in the nice RageTail Craw that will be on there as a trailer the weight of that and 1/2oz jig will shoot to 3/4oz or so.
  23. Get a quality 2pc rod and all these issues are negated. My favorite rod I own is 2pc 5years old never has it come apart extremely confident in the connection and the sensitivity on it is great. Way better than any veritas but then its not in the same price range still there are great 2pc rods out there. Like mentioned look into a USA made Croix for quality 2pc rod.
  24. Well there are a number of ways to rig them where you get numerous fish per worm. Wacky style with Heat shrink tubing, one or two o-rings, fuel tubing. You can repair them with heat or special adhesive(Mend-It). Ive caught 15+ bass with one senko and Ive lost $10 spinnerbait on first cast never a fish tapped it thats part of fishing.
  25. Damiki Hydras came out around 09-10 have you tried them if not I would say try a pack.
