  1. Oh forgot to post this. I had the Dahlberg frog out weighing (.5757ounces) it at work and the eye popped off. Havent even used touched the water and its falling apart. Gorilla glued it back on though so no biggie.
  2. I read once from the shimano rep that right hand reels outsell left up to 50:1 on models so its a numbers issue.
  3. About the only reason I use backing is a 150yd spool wont fill my spools so mono is used to be able to fill it.
  4. I have one too and it works fine. I weighed a small safe at work on a certified scale. The weight was 1415.63grams and on my RMS it reads 1.41kg thats good enogh for me.
  5. Have you ever been on the same lake with others during windy days? If not I would suggest, instead of staying in, take a drive to the lake/dock area and observe the water take notice of how the other boaters are handleing the wind and what the wind is doing to the lake. Maybe get a chance to ask specific boaters coming back in how it is out there. Sort-of like a scouting report.
  6. There is a video there post #5 I see it
  7. Most likely if it sees what it wants. Havent most of us caught a fish at one time with a hook left in it? I have on several occasions. Ive missed fish at times and thrown back at 'em and caught them. Had frog hit multi times from what had to be the same fish I believe.
  8. Well add another purchase to today. I just ordered an Okuma Helios reel from Cabelas. On sale for $160 & $30 rebate & Free Shipping.
  9. I just ordered me one. Cabelas has them on sale for $160 minus the $30 rebate puts it at $130 & Free Shipping as well. Should be here the 25th the water still froze around my area but by then should be able to use it.
  10. I ordered 2 replacement top sections for my 2pc Avid. Back in Oct My buddy stepped on the rod, getting into his boat, and snapped it.
  11. With other brands I have only cent brakes I will use just one and no issue at all.
  12. My carbonlite had 4 settings for cent brakes; OFF- position one had 2 brakes active- pos two had 4- and pos three had 6. Position one is where mine stayed and just turned mag brake as needed usually 2-5.
  13. I guess you have to relate the wind to how your particular lake behaves. 15-20mph winds is quite common where Im at and Ive been out in 20mph with my inflatable with a 55# TM. If I didnt go out in 15mph I might as well not own a boat. My lakes are small though 40-300acres so think that helps. I can crosscut to otherside going head-on is slow going but doable. I used to have a 14'jon boat on the same lakes with just 5hp & 30#tm and it handled 15-20.
  14. Fat Ika/Palm trees Damiki Hydra Senko
  15. The Smoke rod is awesome for its price point (non-BPS price) a sleeper due to name only.
  16. X2 Easy to try and cheap. Some would say to use a heavier reel but you can use much less weight on the butt end. Here a pic of the bit of difference one makes. Now the reel pictured is a 50E at 6.9oz even with a 10oz abu reel the balance wouldnt be as good as the cap.
  17. Nice, this early and a PB hope the rest of the year is productive for you.
  18. I got a Shimano Core 50 & Cumara 7'6" ML Reaction rod. Wanting to get an Okuma Helios bc shortly.
  19. One wrong way I can think of is not getting the line on tight enough. Ive used 10# PP on a Pinnacle bc for 10 years from senkos to frogs & 3/4 spoons. 15# PPS8S on Carbonlite and 50E reels. 20# PP and Performance braid with ABU C4. 15# Kanzen is going on my 50mg7. If I had any issues at all I wouldnt continue to buy/use the lighter braid. Backing or no backing get the line/backing on tight. Once spooled squeeze the line any give or squish re-spool get it on tighter should feel solid. Just the act of casting retrieving shouldnt cause digging with 20#, a force of like pulling very hard to free snag is what could cause digging. Oh one braid I tried Stren Super Braid had an over amount of coating and actually was sticking to itself a bit and gum-up/coat the line guide. I sprayed it with Reel-magic and that helped quite well.
  20. I use 8# PP A couple isssue that are actually operator error but blamed on the line, I think, are as follow. 1st, filling the spool too far. This along with the light subtle braid will cause twists/knots in the line during cast, the line will catch on itself and pull an amount off with it. 2nd, loops over the spool if bail not closed by hand. A little piece of line will not lay on the spool but go over it and on next cast or so the line going out will catch and twist/knot formed in line. So close bail by hand and dont overfill spool.
