  1. Shore fishing- 3 of my top 5 bass this year have been hooked at over 100'. My #1 & #5 though were about 15' out I sighted them and got 'em. Braid does help very much at the distance. Ive been using Sniper 10# fluoro and have noticed at the 100' + range missed hooksets, it just stretches sooo much reel setting yep is needed. Went back with trokar hooks this helps had VMC hooks on but trokar just sharper. @100' No issues with VMC hooks and braid or closer in say 50' with fluoro.
  2. Yep can be used with any action. I have it on moderate, mod/fast, fast, exta fast rods
  3. Campbell is my favorite, think Payton was the best and Peterson is who I like current player .
  4. I never make first contact go up to some person and ask just not that forward. I will though talk to any that approach me (not often) asking how day is going. Ive noticed that people will actually skip past me like ask person 100' to my left, pass me, then ask person down to my right. Might be cause I wont look at them or acknowledge them going by Depending what waters Im at I usually dont get very specific on lure Im tossing. Ill say using lipless crank not say that its 1/2oz RES Chrome Blue. For like wacky senko will say rubber worm hopping off bottom.
  5. I had a Helios and put the sep2 knobs on it but wound up returning reel do to a couple issues. Cabelas didnt have another Helios for exchange so traded for CH50E put sep2 knobs on my 50mg.. No pic with the knobs but here one next to my 50 size shimanos for comparison of size.
  6. FYI Walmart has the Helios for $132 I dont use that big of braid so cant really say how long it last just letting you know about walmart price. oh and if you do get it, shimano chronarch knobs fit it and you can add another bearing in each knob for 2 bearings per knob.
  7. Nice bass Nice_Bass
  8. Noise is nicely reduced to near nothing. For frog use on slop and fibrous weeds S8S picks-up much less debris I took notice of this with micro-guides on my rod they didnt get clogged nearly as much.
  9. The curado 50e has composite dragstar same as chronarch50e so no downgrade there. The handle on the CH50e only allows 1 bearing per knob the curado 50e handle allows 2 bearings per knob.
  10. Nice catches slonezp!! My smallmouth catches are very limited managed only maybe 12" one this year but still took a pic of it. I saw it cruising by about 2 feet from shore tossed a crawler to it and got it.
  11. Yeah over time you will get to know the rod better and fishing it then going down to the smoke you notice those subtleties BUT the Smoke rod is no slouch. I have a 7 M/F Smoke its an awesome rod I too have a 7'6" SC Elite let me tell you I felt the same way that somehow the Elite should blow away the smoke but it doesnt. There are differences but those differences to dollars varies from one person to another. I got lucky and only paid $130 for my Elite and glad for it. I too have Avid and LTB the jump to Elite just isnt to me worth it full price. So fish just the Extreme for a while only it nothing else then go back to the Smoke Falcon then you should notice.
  12. How was your guys Labor Day weekend fishing? The fishing in my local lake turned on, well for a pressured small lake these are very good catches anyways had 30+ hrs fishing this week managed two 18"ers.
  13. Do you clean the bearings and oil them yourself? It really helps.
  14. From my use anything from 1/8oz buzzbaits to 3/4oz spinnerbaits spro frogs senkos KVD1.0 and yep rapala 5 like my rippin rap 5/16 lipless crank great for that. I would say most options are open for you depending on rod choice. Havent used those big swimbaits so dont know there.
  15. This the one you wanting? http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-XPSWeight-Balance-Kits/product/15083/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT
  16. Thanks I just received my 10#Sunline Sniper from Gander only other fluoro I tried was Trilene 100% wasnt that good so hopefully this will perform on a shimano 50 reel. I have L&L but will try the line bare cause its low test but if it needs it it will get soaked. I'll try that Shaw knot as well.
  17. I would have liked to know your results without the use of conditioner, would be a truer representation of the line for me. Sort of like a before/after cause the way tatsu gets hyped it seems like it wouldnt need any in the 1st place but maybe that size test does. What knot are you using with it?
  18. Sounds like your describing my Seagur Kanzen wish you better luck with Berkley CS than what I received from Seaguar.
  19. #1 Kinami Palm Tree with lipless crank Rapala Rippin Rap 2nd and Senko(bama bug) being 3rd SK Red eye Shad 4th.
  20. At times yes but the sinker gets worm on bottom quicker and out a bit farther so it helps. Now take weight off just crawler and gills get more involved. Water I fish is rather clear so can manuver away from gills or sight target cruising bass while walking around lake. Seems like with splitshot on and in weeds the gills dont bother but bass still hit.
  21. Its an AWESOME AWESOME FUN FUN rod to fish with. Wife got me it for our 10 year anniversary. Ill at times rig a split & SK 3X super floating 7" finesse worm.
  22. Chrome Blue works well for me
  23. Sweet fish there
  24. bb sinker, #4 hook, nightcrawler, on 8' ml mod Avid, 6# nanofil.
  25. Ive looked at the tables on occasion after I caught a good bass that particular day and found it was caught during the "poor" time to fish, go figure. My PB was during "poor" time. I just looked and for 8/22/13 two seperate sites give differing "peak" time periods so which one to follow??? 11:13am-1:43pm or 2:20pm-4:20pm. The good thing is the rain should end around 9 here so head out then will be out fishing during both time periods.
