  1. So what to look for in a sb for faster retrieves? Smaller blade or style of blade or both.
  2. For that little savings I would buy local if product available, if it isnt I buy online. Last 3 rods were online purchased no issues but at 50%+ off. I havent had same luck with reels 3 of last 4 reels returned do to issues. One "new" reel I received I think was actually used/returned cause the inside plastic packaging was torn plus the reel had issues with sticking.
  3. SPRO BBZ1 Baby Shad scares fish away for me never even a nibble on it.
  4. Have you read other site's posts of issues with the NRX handles? Here a quote from Shimano rep on another site about NRX issue: Bantam1 "GLoomis has made 4 running changes now to correct the issue. The new foregrip cork has changed and the hole has been slightly enlarged to prevent it from splitting. They also went to a compressed cork section on the front to make it stronger. The reel seat issue has been eliminated now by changing the internal design slightly. This allows for a better bond with the epoxy that holds it onto the blank. A small carbon shim has been added to some models to further improve the contact area. Now to further explain before the panic starts. Not every rod had a problem. So far around 1-2% have come back with issues. These rods have been replaced under warranty. Certain models had no issues at all such as the spinning and lighter 2 power rods. So if your rod does not have an issue do not worry. We also saw most of the cork issues appeared to happen from people cranking down the foregrip too tight resulting in the cork splitting because of the clearance issue. This was changed a few months after the NRX was released. We are aware that not all reels may fit correctly in this reel seat. Shimano reels do not seem to have an issue. If you are using another competitors reel and have an issue then contact us. We can provide you with a shim that can be used to make the reel fit a little tighter in the reel seat. If you have a rod issue contact us by calling 877-577-0600 (US) and we will help you out with getting the rod replaced."
  5. SK RageTail 10" Thumper weighs 15.368 grams & .54205 ounce.
  6. I have the XT 30 its a great reel.

  8. You say wireless but you have cables connecting the modem the plugs may be loose or worn so reconnecting them fix issue for a bit . Try wiggling the wires next time you have issue see if it comes back. I found my phone line connector not fitting correctly once into my wireless router just pushed it in some and connection came back. Went bought new line cause the plug latch was broke..
  9. My all-purpose rod is 7' Medium power Fast action has a lure rating though of 1/4 to 3/4 ounce which is what other medium-heavy rods are rated. So be sure to check lure rating as well and look for 1/4-3/4 ounce rating.
  10. I use a dremel to take off the barb for my nightcrawler #4 hooks.
  11. The store brand reels I have bought all got returned for quality issues. Though a number of name brand reels I have returned exchanged as well do to issues so its a wash but will most likely stick to name brand from now on. I do have a BPS crappie rod that is very nice but name brand for rods in future.
  12. Well Its not a to the 4th power. Using your 90 degree triangle where A is the same distance as B so I gave them a distance of 3 for the fun of it. A=3 & B=3 we will square them and then add them getting A=9 + B=9 thats 9+9= 18 then to get- y squared- you find square root of 18 and thats is around 4.24 so y squared =4.24 roughly A to the fourth power is 3x3x3x3 thats 3x3=9, 9x3=27, 27x3= 81
  13. Might depend on how fishing lipless cranks. I like a fast rod for fishing lipless in through weeds seem to rip them out better/easier. Dont know how whippy the med mod Avid is but have MLmod Avid and it has some fair amount of flex which for small 1.0 crankbaits works well. 5/8oz if recall is upper limit with the M/M so may feel underpowered but thats just a guess Cant help much on reel but Im interested in the BB1 Pro it be used mostly for lipless crank, read favorable comments on its braking system.
  14. Yeah Ive noticed that as well. Ive been unlucky with them not running true more than half the ones I have veer left or right with fast retrieve. A slow to moderate their fine but just knowing they dont run straight causes me to lose confidence in them. The ones that run true are fish catchers though.
  15. My favorite rod is a 2pc 8' Avid dont think one would notice if werent told. If 2pc fits your needs find a quality rod and go fish. Depending on the surroundings you fish (trees and stuff on shore) you could get a longer 2pc rod that would give you more distance. Say you only have storage room for a 6' one pc rod or room for a 7' to 7'6" 2pc rod the longer rod throw farther.
  16. Nice catches Mitch Like you mentioned no one out. I went today only person out there but they were biting.
  17. 11/5/13 Got out today for 3 hours on/off sprinkle to deal with but they were biting. Was first throwing a Palm Tree then saw a bass chase two gills up to shore so switched to a lipless crank. First 3 bass were with a Rapala Rippin Rap biggest at 2 1/2# that bite stopped so went back to Palm Tree and got another last pic with Palm Tree.
  18. So what are your Biggest Bank Side catches this year? I have 2 that are very close in size aroung 3-1/2# 1. Caught with a Spro aruka shad jr oh 15' out from shore. 2. Kinami Palm Tree way out around 100' 1. 2.

  21. Is this the one you have Hummingbird Smartcast?
  22. Have you looked at wake baits??? I have BPS The Egg that has a wide wobble and stay very shallow 0-1' with only a 1/2" lip, just isnt narrow like you want. Here an old thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/2826-favorite-wide-wobble-crankbaits/
  23. Kinami Palm trees/ Fat Ikas most used lure by far now. Can use it many different areas and it catches fish form top to bottom. Plus it casts great too thing soars.
  24. Ah thats where our definition/technique differ bottom contact for me means constant contact even at idle with lure thus the dragging that I mentioned. The amount of feedback is greater during the drag meaning no slack.
  25. Salmon have teeth dont they??? Braid and teeth dont mix too well.
