  1. As far as I can tell they are the same, package says "by GYCB". I have & use both brands but the saltwater that is pictured is suppose to be a little different just havent tried one out yet.
  2. About 75% of my time is spent with one on, my favorite lure. I bought up all I could of the watermelon chartreuse (Kinami Palm Tree) they were discontinued on sale for $1.99 couple days later another box showed up
  3. THANKS ALL Yeah its the 0-6 with frog that is bugging me the most thinking one of them could have been bigger. On one strike about 8' from me saw its mouth and it was as big as PB fish mouth. I have to get back there and redeem my frog game maybe try Booyah Pad Crasher JR
  4. Two recent ones for me. Rapala Silent Rippin Rap Chrome Blue Pike took my last one cant get any more Kinami Palm Tree Watermelon Chartreuse discontinued but I did manage to source about 90 packs before they were gone so have to ration their use. I lost two to low hanging branches yesterday thought very seriously about wading out to get them.
  5. Got my PB today 21" #4-5oz at a lake I go to a few times a year. It also happens to be the lake I got my previous PB. My set-up was spinning Legend Elite 7'6" M/F, Supreme XT, #6 Nanofil, 5" Bama Bug Senko. In the 1st pic you may be able to make out a couple logs in the background (fish crib). I threw very close to the left side of the front log where there starts a patch of slop cover. I just let the senko do its thing after about 20 seconds I give a little shake but feel like I am stuck. I thought maybe Im snagged on log so give a little stronger tug and got a tug back. I set hook and fish heads directly left toward a big metal pipe culvert that connects to lake behind me. The water very clear so was able to get a glimpse of it and could feel it had some weight but still had to hold down to keep it away and managed to get it turned towards open water back right. Once in the open water just kept rod down so it didnt jump and got it landed. The rest of the day caught only small 12" 14" ones. I also had horrible luck with my IOBEE frog hook-ups went 0-6 So had some downs but the PB made the day. here a couple pics 2nd pic turned to get sun behind me
  6. I agree with you. Heck Id think I would never catch a fish with the "rules" I break. Ive got plenty of bass 2'-20' from me, spring fed tap water clear gravel/sand pits even wearing a bright yellow shirt using 10-20# (gasp) braid on a bc reel. By all accounts I shouldnt even be able to cast let alone actually catch a fish.
  7. I dont use over 20# braid on any of my bc reels and all of them have braid. I toss Bitsy Minnows up to 3/4oz spinnerbaits as the heaviest I go for a lure. I have 10-15-20#, 10# I used for years til I started throwing frogs then went to 20# on a couple reels only a couple years ago. If I had issues I wouldnt continue to use.
  8. I use braid it has the qualities in a line that I prefer and excels at them to the other styles of line.
  9. I like version of skirted grub as well especially on near weedmats. Here a post from the hot summer of '12 http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/104503-kinami-palm-tree-to-beat-the-heat/
  10. goofed something up trying to edit. Dont have scatter rap but other small cranks 1/4 and under that I used on Johhny Morris Carbonlite reel with ML and Med rods.
  11. But ask any Dobyns guy and they say balance trumps lightness in a rod. That a slightly heavier balanced rod feels weightless in hand. Ha JGBassinAL we had the same tought at the same time.
  12. OK I got to ask. Why are you guys offering up reels that weigh less than the reel he is using now and he says doesnt balance well for him???
  13. If the water is clear and you can see then SNAG them. 1/2oz lipless crank #2 treble hooks or bigger or just a big snagging hook like they use for salmon
  14. But it does have decades of Japanese proven quality backing it up with the SHIMANO name on it
  15. Im a southpaw I want handle on the right so its 50,100,150 for me
  16. Well Id say you have to at least give FC a try on bc especially that you already have the line. I tried it (sniper 10&12# ) and line management was much better than I though it would be didnt even use L&L Tatsu is said to be even better. The stretch though is what I dislike the most and going from braid to FC the stretch is very noticeable.
  17. Well if the TP at 6.7oz isnt balancing the rod well for your liking going lighter reel will make it worse. Too you wont want to go much heavier cause sort of defeats the purpose of very light rod. Could try 7.4 Curado I or Tatula type-R at 7.6oz. As a side test I think 5 quarters are very close to one ounce. Take 5 quarters put them on your reel and feel if there is any change. hehe get it change
  18. The faux pas reference (the way I read it) was to the use of lighter than 40# braid use on a bc. I agree with Cgrinder based on my use of 10-15-20# braid, never have used any heavier in 11 years. I started with 10# PP throwing small spinnerbaits to 3/4oz spoons. About the only time an issue occurs is with brand new line the coating I have noticed sticks to itself. This sticking may seem to a person to be dig in but after some use the sticking goes away. Ive mention catching a 23# carp with Tatula and 15# PPS8S and on subsequent casts not a hint of digging. I use very little braking on my reels as well and with light brakes any catch in the line would easily be noticed.
  19. Just scored some at Gander on sale plus 25% off right around $11.20 will see how it works out. PPS8S is the quietest Ive use so far. To me quieter equates to smoother.
  20. Worst Ive used strength wise Kanzen 15#. Worst Ive used noise wise Sufix Performance 20#
  21. Fat Ika, Keitech Salty Core Tube
  22. Fished both today. 50mg7 is a great reel for sure the size and weight paired with a very light rod is awesome in hand. If the size and weight are important to you then yes the 50 size would be the way to go. If smoothness and great casting (better than the core50 IMU) along with easier brake adjustment and the extra ease of x-ship then stay with CI4. Last week the 50MG7 was $270 but sold out it pops up about couple days a month at the reduced price. If you wait and get the deal throw some abec7 bearings in it and it shines. Right now you can get the Core100 or Chro CI4 for $220 at Gander- code JULY4. core http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Shimano-Core-Baitcast-Reel-100MG&i=410604 CI4 http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Shimano-Chronarch-CI4-Low-Profile-Baitcasting-Reel-CH150CI4HG&i=757812
  23. I cant get them locally but got mine at Tackle Warehouse( just got 5 more packs) and think Cabelas has them.
  24. X2 Got SS #7 for my Chro CI4 25% off.
  25. I jumped on another Quantum Smoke 7' M/F rod they are on sale plus the15% off Some ultra light 3/16 Rippin Raps, Keitech Salty core Tubes, Damiki Hydras, oh and long sleeve TW shirt.
