The new CL rod has a line weight indicator on the butt section. Comparative 7' length M power the old Smoke was lighter than the old Carbonlite by 1/2oz or so.

"One $200+ Rod, Or Two $100 Rods?" Well I mentioned it because he mentioned he was looking at LTB for 200+ rod. I havent used the Champ or X so didnt compare to them.

Id pick 2 Quantum Smoke rods over one LTB. I fish them side by side prefer the Smoke.

try 5/16"id on the 5.5" and 1/4"id on the 4.5" thats what Ive put on mine.

My Oakleys saved me once. Was bank fishing around big rocks up about 4' from the water. Using a jig and caught one, trying to reach down and lip the bass the jig came loose. The jig took aim directly at my right eye. The impact knocked my glasses off and my hat. The lens had a little scratch but didnt break and I thankfully was not injured.

Ive weighed a 4" Dinger and it came in at .23005oz so with hook you're around 1/4oz. Ive owned a Helios and yes would say the Air would be quite capable, the Helios was.

At 1/8oz what do you guys feel would be a respectable distance for sub $200 reels?...sub $100 reels?

Ive read posts of people having difficulties putting the curado sideplate back on and spool tension was to blame. I guess if person was to press too hard putting plate back on something could fail/crack/deform. I did just go and try my 50E tightened the ccc a turn. The side plate was more difficult to take off. When going to put back on the twisting lockdown was even more difficult to twist/lock. I keep the spool tension to a minimum, as should be done, so not an issue for me.

For around $100 Quantum Smoke 7' M/F 1/4-3/4 lure rating, 3.4oz weight, very well balanced with down to 5.5oz reel.

Even regular bearings can handle any speed a spool achieves. Like these cheap ones rated up to 67000rpm, fishing spool not going to touch that speed. Have you tried any hobby shops that have radio control vehicles, planes, boats etc . Any HobbyTownUSA stores in your area? The brand Trinity has micro oilers sold at hobby shops & other brands as well.

I have but not regularly. A Croix 7'6" Elite M/F with 10# PPS8S. The rod has a good backbone and the no stretch helps with loooong cast hook-ups. You will get long casts with this lure on spinning gear. The lure though will spin a lot creating line twist so this coupled with spinning reel I would be careful/mindful with other line types. I prefer/have a dedicated bc set-up for ikas.

I like Pinnacle and Quantum. Now if they both could get more placement in actual stores to get hands on item. Quantum has a little bit of presence but Pinnacle has zero.

Just not Owner 4/0 wide gap plus or 4/0 Rig n hook. IKA doesnt go well with these hooks from my experience. A few that have worked well Trokar TK110 EWG 4/0 VMC fast grip wide gap 4/0 Gamakatsu Deep throat 4/0- there is much more open area between the body and the hook shank compared to the Owner so the ika can compress more exposing the point better

My Quantum Smoke rods and *** rod I feel have better sensitivity and balance. Smoke rod smokes the LTB weight wise. Handle on the Smoke is more comfortable to me. Im going out on a limb and will say my Helios will meet or exceed the LTB as well. It already does balance, weight, handle comfort wise. Sensitivity still needs to be tested more.

And you should be. The grip area is short this combined with not the best balance sort of digs into my palm some through a days use, not comfortable. If it was 1' to 1-1/2" longer I think problem would be solved. I also agree with S Hovanec.
