  1. There you go good deals Mine would be a 7'1" *** rod($30) and a Tatula reel($40) I got new for $70 total.
  2. I saw at DSG the swing impact in smaller baggy style package
  3. Just eva vs foam not a factor in my choice. Though the feel type of each can be. Like a rougher feeling eva like I noticed on the full grip Tatula is a bummer to me. Or the rubberized cork handle of the Elite Tech not my preference.
  4. Would the $13 96mm MetaniumXG handle fit the CUI?? It fits my CI4 and Core50.
  5. My Okuma Helios MH/F 1/4-1oz is only 3.5ounces. Right now at walmart its $135. You know with walmart if you dont like it, its very easy to return. It has good balance as well even with a 5.5oz Core50 feel nice in hand. I dont have a 6oz reel but a 6.5oz CI4 and it is nice feel to it. I dont think it could be classified as tip heavy at all. Ive used/have heavier slightly better balanced rods but when the weight difference is in ounces like 2-3 Ill take the good balance very light weight rod over the heavier slightly better balanced rod.
  6. Sunglasses the physics behind polarization & lens tint enabling me to look into the water to spot cover/weeds/logs and even fish. Also the ergonomic physics applied to style/fit/comfort of frame to prevent me from getting a headache and not being able to concentrate.

  8. Who knows who that guy was maybe he just didnt want you there. If its not posted no fishing no trespassing fish til/if warden comes and tells you directly.
  9. I kknow when I was looking for my Sea Eagle boat shopping around saved some money here is a little bit less price. Hmm seems to NOT have the Slide in Skeg listed that is $29 but $130 less, add the Skeg and still $100 less. If you look under "additional information" the picture they have shows the skeg with the boat???
  10. What kind of prices you seeing on the 385???
  11. If you go the high speed ratio (or even if you dont) you could always get the longer 96mm handle from the Metanium XG. A little longer handle will get you a bit more leverage/power and its only $13.
  12. yeah they can be bought less than $130 just checked walmart they are $99.99 for Tatula & $135 Type R but tax is added there
  13. I very much disagree, the knot I tie(version of a uni knot) works much better and holds past rated strength. I have not had a slippage occur since I tried this knot. Ive used 6# for a few years now and I get little over 9# strength on my line still. The dbl palomar I only got about 7#. Im down to only 100' and throwing out the connection knot so its time for more. It has a home on my best rod cause it is very sensitive line, braid feels a bit numb when going back to it. It is not a braid and its not underrated on strength like most braid. Its more of a finesse line and when use as such it works very well. It was used to catch my PB and I had to redirect the bass a few times away from a metal covert and a fish crib the knot/line held. I did retie afterwards though.
  14. It can be productive you may have been missing out on some nice catches. Here some of my bank catches throwing out to open water nowhere in particular 100'+ out on the fall or dragging hopping lure back.
  15. If the spool tension is turned too far it pushes the spool outward so when the sideplate is removed spool will be out farther not able to be pushed back in easily. Lessening the spool tension lets the spool/shaft move in more allowing the sideplate to go back on more easily. The spool shaft is basically squeezed between the sideplate and the tension cap.
  16. I agree, but the discussion is about maximum and high amounts of tension not "normal".
  17. In a round about sort of way it does. The extra constant drag of overly tight tension can put added pressure on the gears. The gear mesh will be tighter all the time leading to wear on the teeth. Now how much this takes away from the life of the gears, maybe not much. But just the increased effort to turn the handle is reason enough to keep it loose.
  18. Many many people complained about lack of outside brake adjustment on shimano reels so they made it happen. They also gave the caster the ability use to less braking than what the vbs gives, what I wanted and can utilize. I think most just cant handle the extra speed and are spoiled, perhaps shamed by not being able to control the spool showing their overall lack of baitcasting thumb control abilities. The SVS spool can be set and forget just like the vbs. Mine is set on 1 brake and never changed from 1/8oz to 3/4oz cant be any simpler. I could almost guarantee people would be complaining if the new shimano reels left off this feature to adjust brakes externally.
  19. Oooohh you just missed the supreme xt's for $75 at cabelas
  20. walmart, menards, home depot, lowes
  21. I saw this price at walmart still kicking myself for passing it up
  22. I tie directly to spool with braid on my 50 size shimano reels. I dont use leaders so slowly work my way through the line. Once the braid gets low enough thats when Ill add mono backing to get the spool full again. You will be fine having tied directly to the spool.
