  1. No log book, I buy Shimano, maintenance not necessary
  2. You notice that it is on sale for $200 @TW
  3. Pike started biting off my lure regularly about 3 weeks ago. After about 6 loses I finally tied on my wire leaders and have caught 3 pike since no bite-offs. Get a leader of some sort wire, fluoro, tieable wire. Im only using 5" wire leader cause pike arent very big that Im catching 25" or so.
  4. Ive been using 12# Sniper and think its way too stretchy(especially for hooksets at fair distance) so stronger might help in this area. I know I wont buy 12# again but will buy Sniper again just higher test.
  5. If you mean the Medium it would balance very well but may not have the power you are wanting. I had a Veritas 1.0 M/F micro guide rod and if you want more power than your M/F Veritas 2.0 the Medium/fast Quantum Smoke wont have it. It seems to have more power than many other Medium rated rods but not the Veritas. This is another area that isnt standardized, company A's medium not the same as company B's medium. The Medium Heavy Fast Smoke like Smalljaw67 has may work better.
  6. I own and have weighed these as my lightweight rods bought under $150 new For WRB weighed on calibrated certified scales the lab has where I work. Gen 1---Quantum Smoke 7' Medium Fast 1/4-3/4 lure rating 3.439ounces- 97.522grams have good balance even with a Core50 5.5oz reel can be bought for around $100 still Okuma Helios 7' MH Fast 1/4-1oz lure rating 3.54098ounces- 100.385grams can be found around $130-$140. Helios definitely has more power for just a tick more weight.
  7. Thats how I do it. With braid I like to get it on very tight so go outside and have son hold the spool. I'll walk off 100' and then tell him to grap the spool and dont let go. Start reeling in at tight tension, get to him walk off another 100' repeat process. About 30' in on the second round he lets go and line spews off spool :mad5: I say a few choice words he says his hand got tired then we continue on. His hand doesnt get tired playing video games 8hrs at a time
  8. yeah cause then the problem would be it tilting to the side on a high speed retrieve like my war eagles do.
  9. Both the whole fishing season
  10. Well like mentioned overfilling the spool might be your isssue. I have a pic of the bottom of the CI4 and as can be seen the egde of the spool is very close to the frame and brace. Any fluff during a cast your line will be getting caught hindered but the spool will want to keep spinning. This gap is less on the CI4 than any of my other reels maybe yours too, this why it might not be noticed on those. I have a tendency to fill right to the edge but with CI4 cant do that my braid I could feel getting stuck so took some line off.
  11. Headed out west to Apple Canyon lake and did well, over 20 bass with 19" being the best of the trip.
  12. 63' if rod is spiral wrapped as well
  13. x2 I notice these gains on my Core50 very well cleaned stock bearings with one drop of REM oil vs boca7. Reaching areas of the lake not reachable prior to switch. They spin much more easily so a persons abilities will show more or less the advantages gained. If abec5 work the same not sure haven't used them but the 7's made a difference no doubt.
  14. I don't get wind knots with any brand so no issue there. SS8 is the strongest & quietest braid I have used. On moving baits is when noise is most noticeable for comparison to like Smackdown or 832 just nicer to fish with quiet SS8.
  15. Gander Mountain has spend $250 get $50 off, so a Chronarch CI4 would be $220 The drag is around 10pounds and this snip from a review "The Chronarch CI4+'s drag is amongst the smoothest, most consistent we've tested to date"
  16. If Im watching a fishing show I want to see fish caught so doesnt matter where they are public private. Now for state or world records I feel only fish caught out of public waters should count. A record crappie caught out of a 1-2 acre machine fed private farm pond in no way should be allowed(to me) but it is and where the record crappie in IL came from. Ive been on a pond with feeder and buddy just started the feeder and had it empty but was humming and the fish went into feeding, anything that got tossed in got hit. So the odds are heavily tilted for the better on private small feeder fed farm ponds
  17. Its not the dia that is important here as much as it is the weight of the line 10# braid will be lighter yet give plenty of strength for finesse, upwards of 15# breaking point. Throwing a light bait like say SK Bitsy Minnow at .0823ounces the lighter 10# briad will create less drag than 20#. Each person has their own aspect of what finesse is and to me 20# braid that breaks at 25+ isnt finesse line.
  18. Also War Eagle spinner baits they tilt over when trying to retrieve at anything over a moderate pace.
  19. Spro BBZ-1 Baby Shad havent caught a fish with it.
  20. Ive used 10#PP on a baitcaster for over 10 years once the coating wears off it behaves much better. I also use 15 and 20# braids seems like 20 is rather high for finesse IMO.
  21. Ive gotten little over 45hrs fishing this past week numbers good and a couple with size 16-18". Every bait I threw I caught fish spinnerbait, senko, ika, hydrika, fat impact, impact pretty good week this one 3.37# brought in on nanofil8# with weeds too can see trail this one made
  22. What I highlighted is pretty much what I have went to on scum/mats and have worlds better success. Like you just missed too many good hits and was backing those hits with a wacky rig well then started thinking why not just start with the wacky and be done with it. I can work a senko or fat ika on lots of the same places I work a frog and actually get places below surface a frog wont go so more versatility & way better hook-ups.
  23. Basically the same knot PowerPro recommends in their manual- through the eye twice 6 turn uni knot. I use it for all lines.
  24. Buy a bottle of MEND-IT for all your soft plastics, can fix baits over and over many times with the stuff.
  25. #952 senko
