  1. Its the subpar knot recommended to use by Berkley it just slips too easily. People think of it as a braid and think it should be stronger than rated like most true braids. Once I figured out a knot that increased my strength by 50% to the rating Ive not had a lost fish due to knot failure, pike bite offs yes.
  2. And the braking system is different. IMO the new braking system on the 70 is much better.
  3. It will work the 7' H/F weighs 3.9ounces Okuma Helios has a 7'6" H/F if the extra length isnt an issue, the weight is only 4.2ounces and at walmart its $134 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Okuma-Helios-7-Medium-Cast-Rod/34742964#about-item On site under ACTUAL COLOR choose Multi color then under CLOTHING SIZE pick the 7'6"1H I have a 7' M/F and 7' MH/F they are very nice rods.
  4. This one here the Curado 70 http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/shimano-curado-70-low-profile-baitcast-reel#repChildCatid=3516439
  5. It gets asked on this site often thought I would toss it out there maybe inspire another to ask. Actually it has merit as mentioned in this video Rick Clunn used only a spinnerbait for the whole Tx 18:30 timeframe
  6. Got the Whopper Plopper 130 Bone along with some Hydras that were on TW sale.
  7. If you could only use one lure during the next tourney what would it be?
  8. Not sure, this is starting to get over hyped like the SV105 did. Quite a number of users found it to be less than stellar. Then it has issues with poor fit of spool shaft inductor parts hope they fixed that for Tat CT reel.
  9. I have 8# PP on 20 size president for a number of years no issues ned rig bitsy minnows bitsy jig small spinner baits in-line spinners and at times senko. It will hold to 12pounds or more. Tip, dont overfill spool if you do the out going line will pull off line underneath and you get knotted line some might call it a wind knot but its different.
  10. Okuma Helios 7' Medium Fast for $107 at walmart. You will be hard pressed to get a better current new rod at a cheaper price.
  11. People that discredit TT need to post their reviews of rods reels tackle for our critique.
  12. If it has a light tip how would NED rig fair??? Ive liked the ned on M/F rods of mine.
  13. Weights will vary a little the Okuma Helios rods are light yet still have good power. For $107 at walmart the 7' M/F Helios rod weighs 3.3-3.4oz. My 7' MH/F Helios weighs 3.5oz its $135 at walmart. These rods also have good balance with light reels so thats a plus. My gen1 Quantum Smoke 7' M/F rod is 3.4oz can be found on ebay 100-120 I feel its a better rod than the Helios So if getting 7' M/F Helios $150 left for reel. BPS White JM Carbonlite is 5.8oz $120, at times, on sale for around $90. How good the reel is I had the black and took it back lacked smoothness but good caster.
  14. Senkos are the best by far. There is a reason all other sticks get compared to the same one stick, its the best stick there is.
  15. I have both but my Ci4 has upgraded bearings 70 is stock. The 70 matches very well next to my CI4 though I havent got a lot of hours on the 70 extremely pleased with its purchase. Let the Ci4s handle the larger line long distance casting of the top water and swim baits. Get a 70 for close quarter rigs even ned rigs.
  16. Here weight comparison ZMAN TRD 2.75" 3.913grams------ 0.1380oz ZMAN BIG TRD 4" 6.540grams------ 0.23070oz
  17. Also the tension adjustment has an effect on the handle turning resistance. Increase the tension and the handle takes more effort to turn, feels tight. I like my reels loose so keep spool tension to a minimum.
  18. Id use 832 over reg PP but as a whole 832 is down on my list like 6-7 place, solid line though. Low enough to where I wont but any more of it.
  19. 1/20 jighead w/trd 2.75" ned rig
  20. REM-Oil for SS bearings, run hybrid ceramic bearings dry.
  21. Most here seem to think its the Linders jumping brand to brand for the $$$. Maybe the Brand company is getting short on $$$ needs to cutback and didnt want to pay for sponsorship anymore.
  22. Ive trout fished with UL Ugly Stik, St Croix Avid 8' 2pc and Loomis GLX 801TSR. The fish I caught wouldnt strain any of the rods and the trout didnt seem to care what rod thew the lure they bit on. Now these were stocked trout in a pond/lake not real trout fishing in a stream. I will say the longer 8' Avid was my favorite to cast. The Ugly was very short 4'9" so seemed too short fishing them side by side. The rod expense really didnt change/add anything but the form/length/power/action sure made a difference.
  23. This spring is now in stock and I have one ordered. Will look forward to seeing what difference it has on performance. http://kenken-020412.blogspot.com/2013/09/sv-spool-fault-and-remedy_3.html I have fixed my stuck inductor by following this procedure of filling the gap in the poorly toleranced piece. Trying to get the inductor to stick even by hand (which was easily done prior) is not happening so it does seem to work. I did take out the Tatula spool and the spring in there feels stiffer than the SV105 spring so might have a couple of options on spring rate.
  24. I checked and your Producer 40 is a 10oz reel going to a lighter reel balance will be worse with 1000 or 2500.
  25. 60% more cost for maybe 5% more performance for some its worth it others not so much
