  1. I routinely fish senkos 20-25 fow wacky rigged. I prefer braid for this use over fc due to stretch of fc there is a lot of stretch throwing 100 feet out 25 foot down. Hooksets are much easier with braid. If there are weeds to deal with braid will get through them with much less hassle while dragging the senko.
  2. Senko got the big one of the outing right at 4 pounds. St Croix 7'6" Legend Elite, Daiwa RG-AB, 8# Nanobraid. Hit about 20 feet out just past a weedline in 2-3 fow.
  3. I know the back play you are mentioning while the drag is loose. My Lews does it my Tatula does it and all my shimanos do it. The Daiwa SV105 & T3 dont do it. Tighten the drag about one turn and the handle back play goes away.
  4. Ok lets get some corrections. 1st G-soul X8 is LESS expensive than Smackdown Example from TW 40# G-soul is $29.99---40# Smackdown is $34.99 2nd You get more line per spool with G-soul X8 200m (218.723yds) vs 150yds of Smackdown 3rd The sinking yellow G-soul is different line not the same as green G-soul X8. Example 20# yellow sinking G-soul SS12 has dia of .009 inches, 20# green G-soul X8 dia .0067 inches I have 60# G-soul X8 that is .012dia, 40# Smackdown is .011dia. 50# Smackdown .015dia I have 30 and two 40 pound Smackdown spools but unless I find it on a sale of 30-40% off wont be buying anymore of the line. They all are about the same stiffness not limp like Gamma Torque or Samurai. I would purchase Samurai, Gamma, Super8slick, G-soul X8 over smackdown again. Dont see any benefits to the more expensive smackdown line. You dont get quieter line you dont get stronger line you dont get more abrasion resistance you just get less money in your pocket.
  5. This guy uses 3n1 has pretty good credentials "Not to brag but I won 5 National Casting Championships with 3&1 oil and still is my choice with all my conventional fishing reels. Hope this helps..." Ron Arra http://www.stripersonline.com/surftalk/topic/26801-rocket-fuel-3-in-1-oil-owl-snotwhat-reel-oil/?page=3
  6. For a true braid Im using 8 pound Sufix Nanobraid and like it a lot. It would be my choice for a spinning reel braid going forward if I choose to use braid again. My favorite line that some seem to call or mix in with braid (but it isnt a braid) is Nanofil. The sensitivity of Nanofil is better than braid. The casting distance with ease is better than braids. But for all around yeah use Nanobraid gets my vote.
  7. If using a shallower size spool backing not needed. If not using a leader but tie direct it actually saves money putting on a full spool of braid.
  8. Would like to see it required in the Flea Market at least
  9. Going by price Between my T3 and Core50mg7 I would give up my T3 without hesitation and keep the Core . Between my SV105(a disappontment) and Chronarch take the SV105 from me. Between my Tat and 70 adios Tatula.
  10. BOOMER . . SOONER
  11. The rods I feel were way over-hyped. My first rod had quality issues so exchanged it. When I got to finally use it the fit for me was not there. The grip just too small/thin for my liking. The sensitivity isn't as good as another rod I have in the price range and it's a bit "heavy" for its power length compared to my others as well. I gave the version 2 a try and that didn't impress me either balance off and once again it was heavier than others so a double whammy in balance/weight. Gander had some 40% off I passed don't feel they are worth it at that discount. So it's the product not this site that has me not wanting to use the brand.
  12. In my area a 14' boat and trailer can be found for $200-$400, $600 if it has a 3-5hp motor so your boat if its your avg run of the mill 14' jon no trailer but with trolling motor $250-$300.
  13. 25 size The 20 size has a very small spool might have line management issues with fluoro. I use 8 pound braid on mine. The 30 is big and might weigh too much, at nearly 9ounces, throwing off the balance a bit. The 25 will give you a bit bigger spool and in the middle weight yep have read of quite the number of veritas rods breaking.
  14. I havent had an issue with JJ's on ZMAN TRD
  15. Have you seen this video skip to 15:33 to 20:00 for results of test and comments about the control each reel had with the weight.
  16. The lightest I have easily went so far is a 1/20 oz jighead with 2.75" TRD ned rig toal weight of around .1969oz. A 5" senko weighs around .364oz.
  17. I owned the ETB 7'6" MH/F didnt think much of it. Even at 40% off wouldnt purchase it again.

  19. Kinami Palm Tree watermelon chartreuse discontinued. Was able to source around 100 packs before they were all gone. And MEND-IT has made it possible to prolong the use of these as well as other costly plastics(Keitech Swing Impact Fat paddle tails.) so Ill mention that as a legendary product to use
  20. 1/8, 2/0 short shank, strong wire, very sharp, oh and on sale http://www.cabelas.com/product/TROKAR-BOXING-GLOVE-JIG/2332881.uts?productVariantId=4468842&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=BingPLA&WT.z_mc_id1=04346648&rid=20&gclid=COjgmvjOp9UCFUzEgQodW8oNXQ&gclsrc=ds
  21. Most of the many braids I have tested the knot strength has been higher than rated test. Seagar kanzen and smackdown are two that break under their rating. My 15# rated kanzen the knot breaks 9-12 pounds. My 30# rated smackdown gives out around 22 pounds. 15# powerpro super 8 slick holds to 19-20 pounds. 20# pps8s holds 24 pounds. Knot I use to test Palomar and fish-n-fool.
  22. I have a Shimano Cumara 7'6" ML/Mod-fast I throw crankbaits with also a ned rig at times or light-ish 1/8 head w/4" swing impact paddle tails. I have a St Croix LTB 6'9" ML/XF I throw senkos ikas and will use heavier jighead 1/4 w/fat paddle tails.
