  1. Favorite spinning rod to use with wacky senko St Croix Avid 8' medium light moderate, line 8# nanofil.
  2. I see in another post you bought Nanofil. Dont use Nanofil on a reel with a spool lip that looks that rough you will ruin the line real quick.
  3. Nanofil is my line of choice for spinning. Yes the recommended knot sucks. I found a knot that works, increases knot strength by 50% over rated strength and havent had knot failure with years of use dont use leader. Nanofil is not a braid so shouldnt be compared to them. Its not for everyone but it works great for me and thats all that matters. The bumps Im not sure about. I have two 4# spools, one 6# spool, three 8# spools including a 1500yd and checked them no bumps so maybe due with higher test dont know.
  4. My St Croix Avid 8' med light moderate rod is excellent for neds. The tip loads very nicely and fish stay pinned. I use 8# nanofil so the no stretch gives it better hook setting and perceived strength as well as greater sensitivity than braid.
  5. Ive been more pleased and impressed by my 100-150$ rods than my 300-400-550$ rods. With higher price comes higher expectations and my expectations just havent been realized with high end rods.
  6. The thread got hijacked OP didnt revise the rules.
  7. I didnt see mention of the type of line you want to use. I dont use leaders and only use braid/nanofil so my take is based off my use. I initially fill spool completely with braid/nanofil these types of line last for years on a spool. As I use line through knot tying wind knots and such I put backing on to get mainline back up to full spool level. When finally I get to about 120' of main line left, where the connection knot starts getting in play, I replace the whole spool. So I only throw out the 120 feet of line. If I were to split the initial spool of line in half or thirds to cover 2 or 3 reels I would use/waste more line. 240/360 feet of line being tossed. This is why people are WRONG to think they save money by splitting a spool of line over multiple reels. So FULL SPOOL of braid I say
  8. I have an Hg and XG no geary feel to them bought 2016. The HG I put in 5.5:1 gear set thats not geary with over a year of heavy use.
  9. If they kept the weight off like the Helios line 3.3-3.5 oz I could see getting one. I prefer my Helios rods over Kistler H3.
  10. Trokar if you want the sharpest hook it also very strong. Keitech fats fit great on them as well
  11. I recently purchased a Tour S3 and somewhat disappointed with the reel. There is a loud buzzing noise on the cast when brake setting is low like 4-5-6 clicks. It is on the shelf right now not being used because of this annoying issue. There is a service center about 70 miles from me might call them see what can be done. I have tried oiling the brake system, pins and drum, but that didnt work.
  12. I only use 16# Sniper Fc I have tried conditioner didnt see much benefit so the line that is on my reels currently dont have conditioner and dont miss it.
  13. Had one 1/2oz size one 3/4oz size each with a dull hook so check yours. I also have one 1/2oz that swims to the my right on retrieve as well thats a little annoying. Have around 10 others that I havent used/opened yet so dont know if any issues await with those.
  14. 120-130 feet should be doable
  15. This shows the rod attachment set-up
  16. Oh OK the link you posted is for the one that attaches to the rod and spins like in the video I posted.
  17. Is your station spinning like in this video if so it shouldnt be twist related.
  18. Fat Ike is like a solid tube and yes I fish in that manner. from: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/215968-fat-ika/?do=findComment&comment=2435731 "A person can also walk the dog at surface and subsurface with them that is good for hits throughout the year. Great for tossing on weed mats as well."
  19. I catch way too many fish past 100' with senko its just very effective. Use line with no stretch and hook-ups arent an issue. Its a rarity to not hook a fish if it bites. Limiting cast to just 60' will be missing out on lots of fish. If a senko is effective at 60' no reason it wont be effective at 120'. My comment based on wacky rig only as thats the only way I fish a senko.
  20. Yep thats my thoughts as well when comparing $100 reels to $200 reels not much to be gained. That extra 100 can get you a much better rod. -- Hook Up Tackle has demo NRX spinning rods for $415 get one and put the $85 on a Daiwa spinning reel when a sale some place has them 20% off or better.
  21. I have all weight sizes lengths and multiple colors. I prefer 1/2oz HAZE.
  22. When Tatula first came out FC line was putting grooves in the twing that issue was fixed. Want a quiet braid get Super8slick quieter than smackdown costs less and better knot strength.
