  1. Out today to try for the first time my new Strike King Ned Ochos. I did dip them in JJ's Magic for a little extra color. Catches today were at bottom 20 feet down. Caught 8 using same ned. 1st one Last one of the day at 1:45pm Used 8' ML moderate st croix Avid, 8# nanofil, daiwa rg-ab 2000.
  2. Get a precision oiler cost $2 and up https://www.amazon.com/Liberty-Oil-Products-Bottles-Stainless/dp/B07NKSLFSR/ref=pd_lpo_3?pd_rd_i=B07NKSLFSR&psc=1
  3. I use St croix Avid 8' ML Moderate and prefer it to my LTB XF or LE Fast. I can glide the ned across close to the bottom for some distance by just raising the rod tip up and its quite easy to notice even light pressure takes.
  4. Fat Ika can "walk-the-dog" subsurface caught fish a number of times this way.
  5. Yes its bad. The thumb bar could not stay open at times when you let go of it and then cause the gears to engage/grind while spinning at speed this lead to very rough gears.
  6. Thats the color of the 2 packs I bought. Also dipped the tail in JJ's Magic for some extra pop.
  7. My Curado 70 was getting loud on retrieve but otherwise smooth. I oiled the xship bearing but still loud. So I just replaced the xship bearing with new one, nothing else, and now very quiet again. Might get around to tossing old bearing in ultrasonic cleaner but for now Im good.
  8. I did get a few hours in using 1/16 ned cut-r. Got a 14" one on the 4th cast and one after about 20 minutes then nothing for about an hour switched presentations. Came back to it here and there in the rain and got a real dink 8" or so. I had an issue though with excessive line twist that I figured out was being caused on the fall. As I gave slack line I could see the worm spiraling to the bottom so fishing 20fow its twisting quite a bit. I also was just hopping it up 2 feet or so then let if fall and could see it again spiral. The worm was on very straight and tail out to the side. With steady retrieve no issue it ran true no twisting/spinning tail just flutter very nicely. I pulled the tail off and twisting went away. Will try 1/8 ounce jighead next outing see if added weight will stop twisting.
  9. Got 2 Ned packs yesterday going out to try them. I will be using 1/16 berkley half head jig with it.
  10. A Martens never gave any facts or data side by side comparison to back up his claim so its just his opinion. It would only be most noticeable with very light presentations so anything over say 1/4oz dont think it matters and havent seen any actual proof otherwise. On reels with smaller spools tatsv cu50/70 try to not use backing until needed to bring braid up to full spool level. Filling these spools completely with braid at the start saves line in the long run vs using backing and top shot of braid.
  11. Im asking the obvious ? Are the brakes "turned on"??? When you take the sideplate off and touch the brake shoes do the brake shoes swivel or are they firmly in place. They do need to be able to swivel meaning "on position" If firmly in place they are off. The dial isnt the only way to adjust the brake amount.
  12. Abu has a lot of experience replacing veritas rods you should be fine.
  13. St Croix Avid 8' ML-moderate with 8# Nanofil I use with 1/8 jighead and 2.8" fat impacts. It has good flex but actually recovers rather quickly.
  14. Yet some fishermen believe bass can figure out if fc or braid is attached to those lures and not hit the one with braid. If they could discern that acutely they would know those lures arent food in the first place.
  15. You can have distance without accuracy but you cant have accuracy without distance.
  16. I have President 20 with #8 Nanobraid on it, works great with inline spinners if you use good ball bearing swivels and leader of mono/fc. Had it on an UL but bought a St Croix Triumph light power fast action and its on that now.
  17. First year I used them had great success but last year and so far this year Ive nearly been fishless with them. The hooks also need a quick go over to check sharpness and have a couple that dont run true.
  18. St Croix Avid 8' Medium Light Moderate with 8# Nanofil.
  19. Interested in this one VTS710MLXF not much else. Would have liked to see a ML casting 7' or 7'6". To me way too many higher powered casting models.
  20. Had Chronarch Ci4 stock drag washers replaced to carbontex it was a downgrade not worth the cost as far as I experienced. CI4 stock was very smooth performing.
  21. 4# Nanofil on 6' Light fast St Croix Triumph actually gets respectable distance for that weight. My St croix Avid 8' ML-Moderate does even better.
  22. With 1" gulp minnows I go to 1/124 or 1/80 little jig heads
  23. Yep a little REM oil on qtip ran around the drum works great. All 6 pin shimanos get this 2-3 times a year.
  24. Kinami Palm Tree watermelon chartreuse. Used three yesterday lost one the other two used mend-it to fix the tears.
