  1. Ive collected sport figures for many years now. Being the Olympics and 20 years since the 1st DreamTeam I got out this package to show my son. Its an awesome little set but not worth much.
  2. yes this stuff makes my premier sound like a violin.
  3. Frogs are my favorite just from the excitement of the topwater strike. Im not however very productive with them. Most productive IKA/Senko
  4. I feel your pain brrrrrrother
  5. Ive read that the Extremes Recoil guides and braid line dont mix well. All I use is braid so passed on it price diff didnt matter. The LTB have aconite guides same on my Avid so know how it will be with braid. From this and having an Elite I picked-up the LTB69MLXF. The ACS-NCS doesnt matter I have rods with each already. Here is a thread with .RM. mentioning about the recoils this is just one of many reports of noise from braid/recoil use. If you dont use braid then LEX, I picked LTB. http://www.bassresou...s-braided-line/
  6. Strike King Bitsy Minnows- chartreuse black
  7. Unfortunately Im in the same boat you are I dont catch big fish. I think for what we get in fishing reels the prices paid are way over-the-top compared to other hobbies that use bearings, graphite, Al ,cnc, engineering. I can get VERY nice radio controlled vehichles that use lots of cnc'ed parts have nice little engines a radio system that is much more technical than the poles/reels we use. At times 1/2 the price of a little fishing reel that has 1/4 the machining. Gets1000 times more abuse in one 15 minute race than a reel sees in a lifetime. But the market bears it cause we allow it.
  8. I have only 2 MH/F rods one spin(premier) one casting(clarus) rarely use them. I think its the lightness factor My 7'MF Smoke rod with JM Carbonlite reel is at 9.2oz and balances nicely so when going heavier its quite noticeable and to go any lighter will cost big money. I put a 50E on the Clarus and it is a bit tip heavy along with being heavier. I think mostly though I just dont catch big fish never feel underpowered or fish much where the extra power is needed. I just bought a ML/XF casting rod so going lower not higher.
  9. Had one now for a few months havent used it yet.
  10. Praying may help but hasnt helped me. I had beginners luck with my PB in fifteen minutes of using one the first time but since its been horrible hook-up ratio. I have that trailer hook too and it hasnt helped me. I had 12 strikes in this grass area only one actually got a fight out of and it got off after about being pulled 10'. I saw the strike it took the frog down about 4 feet set the hook and brought it up and on the surface then splash gone. Another strike the frog got pushed in the air about 6" this fish missed totally. The trailer hook though was 100% weedless never getting caugh-up in this spaghetti type weeds.
  11. Ive searched a bit and came up empty on any further info. Like what are the blanks made of, guide inserts, weight. There is one video that claims 40% more sensitive cause the guides are closer to the blank. http://www.worldfishingnetwork.com/videos/channels/getting-school-d-with-jp-derose/ducketts-white-ice-fishing-rods-230621.aspx
  12. How would REM OIL go with OS7 or SS7 bearings? Ive been using this for stock and it is very thin oil I add bi-weekly(40-45hrs use) so oiling often for me wont be much of a change. I saw a chart and REM oil was the thinnest on the list plus have it locally and very good price. Can any give a distance gain from use of upgraded bearings 5-10-20' or 10-20yds gains? I found the chart here are some oils and ratings zebco needle 245 red rocket 93 reel x 74 yelow rocket 59 3n1 40 hot sauce 25 tour rocket f 4 rem oil 3 water 1
  13. 7'3" just because. I dont think 3 less inches would make much of a difference even in slightl tigh quarters you can bring your arm in a little bit but you cant make it any longer than it is. 3" is negligible I use 8' & 7'6" rods in amoungst trees & brush shore fishing the extra length comes in handy for reaching. One other thing, handle length, are the reelseats of both rods the same distance from the butt? Sometimes the seat on the longer rod is a bit further up so the effective length in front of reel can be closer than the 3" difference in length but this isnt always the case.
  14. From my experience fish (Bass-Pike) get attracted to the fight of a bass. If I take a little bit to land a bass Ive seen others swim up very close. I have even thown in with another set-up to try to catch the bass investigating. Ive seen this on fishing shows as well about watching for trailers while bringing in fish. Pike too will go after bass and other pike being brought in its basically like a live bait presentation to them. So my first-hand experience differs from the chemical warning scenario
  15. I dont use higher than 20#. My 50E, JM Carbonlite have 15# PPS8S, I have a Pinnacle bc with 10# PP, Abu C4 20#. You have might as well give it a try.
  16. top of list noise/vibration= walk very softly movement=slow . . . , . . . color of clothing=doesnt matter bottom of list my favorite shirt is bright yellow I catch many fish within rods lenght of me- clear water
  17. My biggest bass this year was from a weightless nightcrawler. The gills just got so bad that went artificial plus what I have been using has been producing numbers just not size.
  18. Well I have been trying Owner Wide Gap Plus 4/0 and have lossed a few in a short time of testing so not liking them plus its a thick hook and tearing seems more. Before was using BPS Wide Superlock 5/0 with much better success. Will be trying the threadlock style next Im out for longer life/use per ika
  19. A Dremel will cut it if you just want to make prototype and file it and sand it. A bandsaw a hacksaw. Tape the point where you might drill a hole. Wear mask safety glasses
  20. For my pennies the Avid is a better value thats why Im more pleased with it.. To me there isnt $130 difference in sensitivity nor balance with a stradic 1000. I dont have like rods Elites dont come in the Avid I have. Im comparing Avid 8'ML Mod to 7' 6" MF. Maybe a 7'6" ML F Elite would WOW me but the MF just doesnt. The Avid balances about 3/8" closer to the reel than the Elite does not much at all really to notice a difference. There is just a point of diminishing returns and the Avid is that point I feel. I would feel better telling a person to pay full price for an Avid more so than I would an Elite. I wouldnt pay full price for an Elite I would look at other brands. If I had to put a price on it I would say $250 max is what I would be comfortable paying for an Elite luckily though I only paid $130 for mine out of the bargain room.
  21. I think the best benefit of mono that hasnt been mentioned is as a backing to braid. This is the only reason mono is on my reels. I think braid is more cost effective over the long term as well. I have my 1st spool of braid from 10 years ago that still gets use often on my sons reels.
  22. Same here Im very glad I didnt pay full price for my LE this speaks more to how good my avid is
  23. I try shaking it short & quickly with out actually pulling on it or then quick jerk but yeah the eye end usually is what gets the weeds more so than the point. I dont skin hook at all just have snug against it.
  24. Some gills are on beds up in IL right now.
  25. Yes had the same thing happen last Thursday. Went out after a rain yet still very cloudy for like an hour no bites. The sun came out and bam bam bam 6 fish in and hour. Then it got cloudy again and no bites for another 1 1/2 hours. Sun came out for about another 10 minutes caught another bass. Left and on the way out talked to a man about just this, sun coming out catching them.
