  1. I have had my Dremel for 20 years and it has really been used extensively over that time. Excellent quality.
  2. I have been using the XPS Flouro for 8 years on the Potomac in 14 an 17lb and have no problem with it at all. The BPS sale is the time to stock up. I do hose it down through out the year with KVD Line and Lure Conditioner. I really find it pretty limp with no casting problems at all.
  3. Don't leave home without them. I have reels 10 years old that look new and spent a lot of time in the pickup bed. I also have a large rubber mat on the deck where they lay during fishing. No carpet rash.
  4. When there isn't enough line left on the reel from re tying.
  5. They have taken a lot of flake by the nay sayers, but at the same time you will find anglers who use them and say they are a pretty good reel. Your call I guess.
  6. The appeal to me other than price is the 7' rod weight--3.5oz. That is light.
  7. Been using 10lb inexpensive mono forever as a backing for all lines.
  8. WOW! Sounds like you need one of the reel doctor services on here. It could be any number of things.
  9. That is what I like about Shimano reels. Their engineering design places few bearings in places needed for maximum reel performance. I believe the expensive Core does not even have bearings in the handle. I have replaced drive shaft bushings with bearings and frankly, I cannot tell the difference.
  10. This site may be of help to you. http://pages.infinit.net/fishing/bait101.htm
  11. I have used my orange Wild for cranks for two years no with no problems. Got it on sale at the time at Gander for $80.
  12. I have been using the regular BPS fluorocarbon in 14lb for 8 years now for worms and crankbaits and am very pleased with it. Thank you BPS for the sales on this stuff. I like its relatively smaller diameter (.013") than some other Flourocarbons.
  13. I use different colors on various reels to identify the type reel laying on the deck.
  14. I have the new Chronarch. C14+. It is a very smooth reel and I have it on a BPS 6'6" MH Carbonlite with 14lb flouro. It comes with two of the four brakes on, so I set the outside dial on 3 (there are 6 settings) and a flick of the wrist send a Senko a very long ways with no effort at all. Love it. The first thing I did was take it down, clean the excessive oil from the bearings and grease from the gears and relube. This reel has two bearings under the cast control cap for spool stability under a heavy load, which Shimano refers as the "X Ship" feature. All bearings are anti rust and the spool bearings are very fast.
  15. I just received an email from our BPS north of Richmond and they "hope" to have the new Curados in time.
  16. I just received my flyer in the mail today, Feb 20. Read it carefully because everything is not available every day.....dates vary.
  17. This the pinion bearing on my Shimano baitcasters. I just found a fellow on Alan Tani's site who has been using only TSI 321 on his pinion bearings for two years now with no problem. I am waiting for his response on how often he cleans them and with what before he reapplies TSI 321. Of course greased gears has always been the way to go.
  18. This would strictly be a dipped pinion bearing, in addition to the two-year old TSI spool bearings.
  19. At this point I am thinking to just run a test on one. I normally strip down my reels once a year, I might just dip one now, run it through the summer, and see how it goes after three month or so. It really isn't a load bearing bearing anyway.
  20. I run two reels with TSI 301 dipped bearings and they are going strong after two years. I know there are other TSI fans on here and I am wondering if TSI dipped pinion bearings fished in fresh water would be as protected as packing them in grease? Comments welcome.
  21. Our BPS store manager in Richmond says he "hopes" to have the new Curado when their classic sale starts, but they will not be a sale item.
  22. My BPS store manager just told me they "hope" to have the new Curado by the end of the month. Shimano says no 50 size coming.
  23. The Shimano rep on other sites known as Bantam1 has long advocated that anything over ABEC 5 is completely unnecessary for enhanced reel performance since baitcast reels do not reach the level of RPM's requiring anything more.
  24. Any BPS employees on here know if the BPS stores will have the new Curado for their Classic sale at the end of this month? This is the rod and reel trade in time.
  25. I am currently throwing 14lb BPS Excel mono on two BPS micro Carbonlites and it is smooth as silk.
