  1. I have two 70HG reels and they are really, really nice reels. Properly adjusted with brakes. outside dial and cast control cap, no back lash at all. It takes care of itself on the cast. Both of mine have 12lb fluorocarbon for plastics fishing.
  2. Too much grease in the bearing under the handle??
  3. Where is the big sale on Aetos rods for $95?
  4. I have three Chronarch Ci4's and each is spooled with 14lb fluorocarbon mounted on 7' MH BPS Carbonlites and I could not be happier for the combinations to throw Texas rigged plastics and they did not cost me an arm and a leg. Incredibly light and sensitive and now going in to year two fishing really heavy junk on the tidal Potomac. I have two more like them with Curado 70XG's doing the same thing.
  5. Pretty much the same here. December and January cold days are for reel cleaning. I do have a couple of favorites, which during the year I will clean and re oil the bearings on because they get a real work out compared to others.
  6. A 15lb 1000yd spool of InvisX is on Amazon for $89.00. The 15lb is .013 " in diameter. That is a really huge savings if you want a lot of it on hand.
  7. Ordered a 7' Carbonlite rod from BPS two years ago and the rod was packed properly, but when UPS brought it to the door, three quarters of the way up the tube they had bent it out on a 30 degree angle. Needless to say I was convinced the rod would be trashed, but it survived and I am still using it. It boinged right back into shape.
  8. You can use them either way, but I put a light wipe of drag grease on mine.
  9. Use Elmers Golden Oak wood filler, let it dry well and sand lightly with 120 grit sand paper and they will look new.
  10. I get two reels in their box in a flat rate medium post box with a little room for bubble wrap.
  11. I am biased to the CI4 and I have both reels, but the Chronarch is one smooth reel. The Chronarch is also salt water safe with anti rust bearings and a body immune to salt. Never worry about a Shimano reel made in their Malaysia facility though. No difference in quality. Remember the Citica 200DSV? Built in the Malaysia Shimano facility and a work horse of a reel. I increased the gear ratioj in mine to 7.0:1, fished it for years and sold it to a guy in Texas who is still using it and loves it. The Curado70 series is from the same facility.
  12. I Senko/plastics fish and always have with BPS Carbonlite 7' MH fast tips and they work perfectly and you can't beat the price on sale. They seem to get a bad rap, I fish the tidal Potomac and that water can be rough on a rod, but I have never had a rod failure.
  13. I just use plain old monofilament in 8lb on my spinning reels for Senko baits since the water is usually murky. Never a problem with big bass in the grass.
  14. I read that according to Shimano, there will soon be little difference between the JDM and international models.
  15. I assume you are talking about a spinning reel, correct?
  16. As said above, the Curado 70 is a smaller reel than the Curado 200i and comes with different speeds. Curado 200I 6.3:1 Curado 200HG 7.2:1 Curado 70HG 7.2:1 Curado 70XG 8.2:1
  17. Great braid knot and never fails is the fishing fool. Basically a uni.
  18. I fish my 90 on a 7' MH Carbonlite on 14 lb mono. Works great.
  19. I had a 2500 BPS spinning reel for 12 years and simply wore it out.
  20. Don't overlook the new Curado 70, which comes in an 8.2:1 version in the 70XG model.. I have two and they are really incredibly great reels. Shimano really hit the jackpot with this reel. Small, light, fast and smooth, but $200 a pop. They have a smaller line capacity, but I have not noticed a problem because of it. Both reels are spooled with 12lb fluorocarbon with mono backing on 7' MH Carbonlite rods and I use them for fishing plastics. I like them more than my Curado 50E's.
  21. InvisX 15lb is only .013 in in diameter compared to BPS 14lb fluorocarbon, which is ,013 in in diameter. InvisX is really great line.
  22. A BPS 7' Carbonlite MH fast tip. You can throw it all day in comfort. Very, very light and inexpensive. I have five of them. I use 14lb fluorocarbon on the Tidal Potomac grass beds and no problem.
  23. The Chronarch frame is carbon fiber infused composition. It is incredibly strong, light and expensive to make. The Chronarch spool is a little higher quality than the Curado and it has anti-rust bearings throughout. The drag system is identical in both reels, four shoes which tip forward on a brake ring, further tuned by an outside dial. The Curado has no handle bearings.
