  1. The premium Ultimate bunks have an aluminum rail screwed to the back in which the bolts slide to bolt them on. Not an expert, but it seems stange that one in a 2x6 nine feet long would sag. But then they are the experts.
  2. I forgot to mention that when i was dropping my G3 with a Yammie 60 in the Potomac at the state park ramps two guys pulled up with a 40' white Fountain with twin monster V8's. I said that looks like a 90mph boat and the owner said oh yes and then some, but i keep it at 80 or less. When he started it up the ground shook and then it was out of site heading for D.C. 40 miles up the river. He had a good laugh when i asked him if he wanted to race. He said the boat was one of Pete Fountains' at one time. What a boat, what a boat.WOW!

  3. I do know that the generally, normally accepted way to fish a weightless Senko is on medium, spinning gear, but I have always used a MH bait caster with 15 lb invizx on a a really fast bait cast reel and that is because I have to deal with really thick Hydrilla beds. Even off the edges of a big bed there is a layer of the stuff from which you have to fight to retrieve your bait.
  4. All did not go well today and only got two changed, a 5' and a 100" next to it. Problem is the other two are also rotten, but the bolts will not come out. Just enough strength that they spin, but will not let go. They are really big lag bolts. One day next week it will be a battery saw and and crow bar and cut the doggone things up to get them off. Nothing is easy. Good news is I put the boat back on the trailer OK
  5. As of today( Sep 16) I not heard any more about it.
  6. Tomorrow is the day I pick up the boat from the state park storage yard, pull it down the hill 200 yds to one of the two monster launch ramps, drop it into the mighty Potomac and swap out the bunk boards for the Ultimate Premium bunks. I love the Potomac, but it just eats the daylights out of everything (salt content) since I am only 20 miles up from the ocean and periods of no rain results in the salt line creeping up the river and it happens every year. In this case, I bought a new galvanized trailer just nine years ago (the river ate my original powder coated trailer in just 11 years) and one of the bunks has completely rotted away, but the galvanized trailer is holding its own. That will end with the Ultimate Premium bunks. I will change out two 5' and two 100". I will try to post before and after pics. Ah, so goes life on the Tidal Potomac.
  7. I fish mine on a BPS 7' Carbonlite 2.0, medium spinning rod I grabbed on sale for $99 with a Shimano Sahara 3000 Hg spooled with 8lb BPS mono (I traded in an old BPS spinning reel on it at the Spring Classic sale) and could not ask for a more more comfortable rig on which to throw the fluke all day if I had to.
  8. That happened to me and it was a loose factory installed clamp on the live well pump. Easy fix once I found out what it was, but so minimal it was hard to find. I put on a new clamp with sealer and no more leaky. Bone dry since unless I reverse too aggressively and get water over the stern. That has to be a welded hull and I doubt the weld is leaking.
  9. The current issue of BassMaster has a good article in it on how to choose the right rod. The article does not go into the manufacturers, but discusses the types used for various baits and correct action, etc.
  10. My two Curado 100B's are now 15 years old and fish like they just came out of the box.
  11. I frog on a robust KVD 7'MH rod with 50lb 832 and never do a drag lock down....tight, but not locked down.
  12. Yep. Brakes slow down the initial spool speed and the cast control for the the terminal end of the cast. That is why the old standard is to hold your rod straight out with the lure on, release the spool, and the lure should drop to the floor/deck and stop without over spinning the spool
  13. Just read where a bass pro likes the Yum finesse worm on his 3/16 shaky head.
  14. Lures like that not allowed on the Tidal Potomac, so it is old school lizard on a hook for me, but it still works.
  15. Can't say I have ever hears that term for a fishing rod before, a least is the 20 years I have been bass fishing.
  16. On the deck my reels lay on a 3/4" foam rubber pad, so no carpet rash and in the rod locker the reel covers stay on. The foam rubber pad is easy on my old feet also, keeps scent goo off the carpet and came off a big roll in the carpet dept at Lowes. It extends from the bow to about 8" past the butt seat pole on the deck and port to starboard.
  17. Good grief, this prompted me to do an inventory of baits on my peg board and found two pacs. Bought these on a close out when Boater's World folded their tent and that was forever ago.
  18. I bought Mike's pre packaged swim jigs in various colors and they are really, really nice.
  19. I just posted on my use of the KVD Caffeine shad and how much I like it in bubble gum and baby bass. Heavier than the fluke for sure and can be rigged weightless for either top water action, dying minnow, or a jerk bait. I think it is far more versatile.
  20. I used to stock up at Dick's when they had their big Senko sales, but got so far ahead I have not been in there for ages and been doing a lot more fishing with the SK KVD Caffeine shad in bubble gum and baby bass. Lovin' that bait and the bass do also.
  21. Another good reason why I do not use braid anymore.
  22. It sure is the one I watched and FedEx will be here on the 8th with my premium bunks and can't wait. Of course pouring down rain is forecast Tue, Wed and Thursday. A-Jay was very helpful to me with tips on getting them.. But if I can get a break in the rain at least there will not be a mob at the state park ramp.
