  1. I bought a used SS prop from the prop shop who repaired an aluminum I bent up pretty bad and they even put a cup on the blades for me and guaranteed the prop. Runs like a dream. A whole lot cheaper than a new prop.
  2. At least on the Potomac we generally use gold Colorado blades in really cold, murky water then in spring go to a gold Colorado and silver willow, then in summer double silver willows.
  3. A word to clarify what TSI 301 and TSI 321 are. TSI 301 is a strong solvent with TSI 321 suspended in it. If TSI 301 comes into contact with plastic before it dries, it will damage it, but it evaporates super quick. TSI 321 is pure lubricant and will not damage plastic. This stuff was developed for NASA many years ago because regular oil cannot be used in space and this stuff sort of "permeates" metal surface, so there is nothing left to float off in a space environment.
  4. As a simple guy on a retired budget I use a 7'MH fast tip Carbonlite for chatterbaits and a bunch of other stuff, except cranks and a medium for those. Seems to work very well for me. I only have two technique specific rods and one is a Rick Clunn top water and a KVD Spinner bait rod and I bought those years ago before Carbonlites hit the market.
  5. I deleted this because I posted the same thing above. I gotta stop trying to do 12 things at once and pay attention.
  6. Thanks much. I can off my duff and drive up there in 20 minutes to look at it.
  7. Is that ramp at Burke Lake easy to in and out of? I know where it is, but have never looked at it close.
  8. Just be aware that parts replacement may be a problem depending on the reel. Notice I said "may be a problem"
  9. PM coming to you
  10. It is for me except for jerk baits, then it is 6'6".
  11. Either check with Delaware Valley Tackle (DVT) on here , or call Shimano in Anaheim for info.
  12. My apologies fellow anglers, the flyer says either or. Geez, no wonder I thought it was a really good deal LOL
  13. Here is what I meant. Yes, only the 200K XG (8.5:1) and the DC has what Shimano describes as having a (micro module), which only describes the number of teeth on the drive gear with matching pinion for the really high speed (8.5:1) but what I am referring to is the XG models in the 70 XG (8.2:1), Chronarch MGL XG (8.1:1) and the SLX XG (8.2:1) also have a micro gear configuration to get the XG high speed. They just don't qualify to be called a (Micro module) by virtue of the number of teeth (maybe a marketing ploy by Shimano) If you look at a 70XG,MGL XG and an SLX XG drive gear next to a 200K micromodule drive gear is hard to tell the difference at first glance. Hope this helps.
  14. BPS just offered a really good deal on a combo. Carbonlite 2.0 rod of your choice with a Carbonlite bait cast reel for $99.99. Heck the rod alone is $120 and I have four of them I consider really nice, light weight rods. Incredible comfortable handles. I do not have the reel, but love those rods. Sorry, I screwed this up. Either or.
  15. OK, good news and thanks
  16. The SLX XG is 8.1:1 brass micro drive gear and pinion
  17. Anyone launch a boat there? Is there a ramp, is it concrete, is there a drop off on it near the shore or well under water? Thinking about putting in my 17'6" G3 and know the motor would have to stay up...TM only. I went up to Lake Brittle and there is a nice ramp, but absolutely no room to position a truck to back down the ramp. Looking for something different than the Potomac for windy days. I am in Dumfries. Thanks for any help.
  18. Wow, rough gears after a couple of months is interesting. Of course each reel is different, but my SLX XG with the brass micro gear did battle with the tidal Potomac gnarly grass beds all last summer and is just as smooth now as the day it came out of the box, but I did use Shimano ACE2 or Cal's drag greases on the micro gears, which Shimano recommends for a smooth operation. The VR SS high speed bearings I installed have made it an even more terrific little reel. Still love my K's and Chronarchs for really fun fishing tools. Curado K XG
  19. You can buy TSI301 and 321 here, they make it for NASA. https://amgas.com/prodpage.htm
  20. Notice that for the SLX SG reels use the drags for the Curado 200I and Curado 200 I HG. Delaware Valley Tackle (DVT) on here has them. The DC is just for cast control.
  21. If this will help, the factory paint on my tin G3 is urethane metallic and that is the whole boat.
  22. Is you TM a digital product? I went with a 55lb digital, variable speed (1-10 setting) 12V MG on my 17'6" G3 tin and it is really energy efficient, I do not run around all day with it on 10, only to change locations of 100 to 200 yards. I never run out of juice for a 5-6 hour day on the river. The battery is a Deka 27, 575 CCA,705 MCA@32degrees, 20 amp AVE 200minutes.
  23. On the Potomac I throw a plain old Senko Texas rigged with a 3/16oz slip sinker in front of a grass bed and parallel to it, let it sink and fish it like a jerk bait. Very effective.
  24. That is what I thought. They sure have been around a very long time. Wonder if Dawn is still there for advice on what sizes for reel tinkerers like me. If Amazon failed I was ready to call them.
  25. What a coincidence I have one just like that. Close behind the Coast Guard.
