  1. I am still using a really old KVD 7' MH and it is still working well for me on the Potomac beds. With that Lake Fork frog tail hook there is no big hurry to "get'um up and out" because they are not going anywhere.
  2. And tighten the drag first before you begin. I hate braid back lashes, which is why it is only on my frog rod and does not go out with gusto, but controlled lobs.
  3. Wow! Thanks.
  4. So at chock a block how many jigs does thing hold?
  5. Mine are in 3600 boxes by type and within each box by color. I don't trust mixing different brands of plastics so that they are in direct contact with each other. Never a problem of any kind stored/carried for me this way.
  6. Mono is all I ever used for years before braid and flouro and still have a third of my set ups spooled with mono. I was even frog fishing with 20 lb mono.
  7. All of my non-plastic baits are in 3700 boxes, so I just take what are the "in baits" for the day. Our Potomac river guides email out their weekly reports on lures, colors. etc., which is a really big help since that big old river changes fast because I am only 30 miles up from the ocean. It can drive you nuts from day to day.
  8. Ya boy. Last summer grandson and I were way up stream on a tributary of the Potomac and I had on my new JackHammer $$$. Grandson has a line problem so I step back to help him and in doing so brought my line with JackHammer $$$ back to the TM blade and when I stepped on the TM good bye $$$. Wanna guess what my next comment was? ? So I have stuck with just up scale Z man chatter baits.
  9. Warmed up to 50 today with light rain, so I took my cleaned and lubed SLX with new VR SS high speed bearings and Carbon Tex drags with several different lures to a little 77 acre lake 45 minutes away and gave it a work out with different lures and weights and I am really pleased with those bearings. Unweighted Senkos out a reasonable distance and as I started up with 1/2 and 5/8 of various lures the distance really surprised me. I wasn't passing the Chronarch MGL, but really respectable distance. The Carbon Tex did not get a work out today LOL
  10. As indicated above, the SLX MGL has a size 100 spool and the Curado 70 has a size 150 spool and you will find that on several JDM reels of external physical comparisons. With regard the 70's making noise, Shimano recommends using their ACE2 drag grease on HG and XG drive gears. Cal's drag grease is the same as the ACE2. I use it on all three of my 70XG's and my other Shimano XG reels. It really makes a difference. I have never purchased a Shimano reel requiring a faulty bearing replacement.
  11. I do not have that rod, but I do use a 7' MH fast tip for those baits.
  12. So A-Jay, how much stock do you own in the company? LOL
  13. I know absolutely nothing about kayaks, it sure looks like a sturdy little craft. Is this a "stand up in" model?
  14. Amazing how many with carbed engines never knew they start better with the carb floats level.
  15. Whoa, the spring classic flyer is out?
  16. The Spence Scout crankbait with the dual line tie...deep or shallow. I do even know who made it it has been so long.
  17. I just saw this and see how you solved the problem I have for down. My bow switch works fine so I know it has to be the control toggle. I have a Yamaha 6XO Control and am trying to figure out how to get inside the control arm to the toggle trim switch, I assume the whole arm has to come off the control unit. Any tips you can pass on will be appreciated.
  18. That does not sound like it can only be used for below 75hp, but can also be used for those engines, but let's hear from the Merc users.
  19. A tip, when removing the e-clip put a dab of grease on it and it goes no where. To put it back I position with tweezers and the grease holds them in place then a gentle sqeeze with small hobby bent needle nose and it glides right back on and the bit of grease keeps them from taking off.
  20. Did you mean an SLX, SLX XT, or SLX DC? There is no SLX 71. There is a JDM SLX MGL.
  21. I stuck with Shimanos over the years because their internal design while very efficient, is not complicated and easy to get into and work on. There are minor differences in their newer reels, but easy to figure out once inside. That said, I got into a Johnny Morris best reel a few years ago and it was pretty simple. I think I am hot stuff until I think of the various brands DVT works on every day and wonder how they differ.
  22. Well I was field artillery and they don't come any sharper than that. Known as the king of battle and infantry as the queen of battle and we always put them where queen wanted them LOL
  23. I do have a BPS Crankin Stick, but have read dozens of comments on them from a variety of sites and the owners have only had words of praise for them.
  24. Delaware Valley Tackle (DVT on here can provide excellent service to you.
