  1. I have three 50E's and three 200E7's and they fish today the same as out of the box years ago. All of them are still stock and I just keep them clean and lubed properly. Really nice dependable reels.
  2. I ma really proud of my diversity. I must have 12 different colored Senkos.
  3. I hit Cabelas early yesterday to swap an old rod for a Carbonlite 2.0 and they had two large tables loaded with these baits and I mean 6' deep neatly stacked. You had to read the sticker on the back to determine if it was a 1/2 or 5/8 oz and as said above, both dive 1-4'. Strangely, I was the only one looking at them on either table. Maybe being a Thursday morning was it.
  4. Jack Hammers for $12.79 on Discount Tackle. Anyone bought from them. Reliable?
  5. I fished with 14lb mono on every baitcasters for 10 years and 8lb mono on my spinning reels even today. Oops, I forgot 20lb mono for frogs.
  6. Well here you go, I watched a Kevin Van d**n video last week changing line on reels and he fishes with 75 yds of line on his backing on all reels.
  7. Big Carbonlite fan here for several years and am now up to eight combination of the older black, white and 2.0 and all on sale. I have MH 6'6, MH 7' and medium 7' and love them. They have gotten a lot of bad mouthing from some claiming everything from "falling apart" to "always breaking", but I have never had a problem with any of mine and they really take a beating on the Potomac massive grass beds often pulling out a bass with an equal weight of grass on it. I have very old wrists and the Carbonlites have been good to them. I also have three Carbonlite Medium spinning rods and one is a 7'2" incredible rod. My school teacher daughter has sort of claimed it as hers and she does well with it LOL. Actually going in on the 12th to trade in an old BPS Extreme from my rack on a 7' MH 2.0. Side story: when the grand son was fishing a pond with one I gave him he quickly learned too late not to dislodge a snag with the rod, so we took the two pieces to BPS and they simply gave him a new rod. I did not get paid for this testimonial.
  8. I am also a user on rods which need one and get around 3-4 years on the O ring before it grows tired and breaks. I took a new O ring to Lowes when I began using the keepers and bought a few reserve O rings in the right size I carry in the boat. Don't buy the fat O rings though LOL.
  9. In 1999, Rick Clunn designed a rod then sold by BPS for top waters. I picked one up on a close out sale for $80 and it is a 6'6" MH 3/8-1.5oz, 10-20lb and it has a really "whippy tip" on it for top waters. It is great for buzzers (and many other baits) on a Curado 200I with 17lb XL mono. I would say Rick really knew what he was doing. Love that rod.
  10. If you need a spacer by any chance here is an idea. I lost a couple of spacers a few years ago and had a tiny piece of gas stove gasket material laying around so I just cut little round pieces to fit in the cast control cap and it lasted for ever. Ace Hardware sells the stuff.
  11. The holes in spools are to lighten the spools for performance and nothing to do with line tying.
  12. Go on to Google and type in "portable boat fish livewells" and you won't believe how many come up. Most not cheap.
  13. I should add that a popular way to fish these baits on the tidal Potomac is to troll them in the shipping channel. Then you have to determine whether a trailer is needed or not. The channel varies in depth down to 28 feet and is always murky. Generally if you cast them elsewhere, which is usually 5-8 feet outside the shipping channel, depending on where the tide is, a trailer is not needed.
  14. I have Frogg Toggs now 18 years old and they are still very comfortable on a hot day when it rains. I thought they would fall apart by now, In reality I really have not worn them that much over the years fishing, but have worn the jacket simply for rain wear. I keep the top and bibs rolled up in the boat bag and it is a small roll. Mine are blue pattern similar to the HUK blue.
  15. Never had a Chronarch problem with gears in mine. Shimano strongly recommends that their ACE2 drag grease be used on the brass drive gears (Cal's is the same thing), which I have done since day one of purchase. I have a varied Chronarch inventory and all are humming along just fine with their original build components: 1 Chronarch 6.2:1, 6 years old 3 Chronarch HG 7.6:1, 2 are 5 years old and 1 is 3 years old I Chronarch MGL XG 8.1:1, 2 years old.

  17. Maybe a big fluke at times, or a really big grub.
  18. Duct tape, and line exposed to it gets cut off anyway when I tie on a new bait. But with all of the KVD L&L on the line not much of anything sticks to it very well. I have several "line clips" I also use some times and cannot remember where in heck I got them many years ago. They are 1/4x1/4" plastic with a tiny pinched wire sticking out which just snaps on to the line. Some drop sinkers have the same little wire thing to snap on the line. In reality I only tape down the line to remove the spool for reel cleaning and it goes right back in the reel.
  19. I only know that my Chronarchs, not bought from Japan, are top of the line in quality. curious as to why you ordered a Chronarch from Japan.
  20. I may be wrong, but I believe the Curado is a larger spool. Don't own one. I am wrong. Just checked and both reels hold 110 yds of 12 lb mono= same size.
  21. Very, very popular on the Potomac when the stripers run up river.
  22. Merc should be able to tell you the peak RPM is for that engine. If this will help, I have a 60hp Yammie on my 17'6" tin with a 14 pitch SS prop and it peaks out full throttle smack on the motor recommended running max of 5500 RPM, but with a full 21 gal gas tank, two adults and gear the best I can get on calm water and the right air temp is around 34.7 GPS.
  23. Grandson bought this one 5 years ago and beats the day light out of it, but no rips or tears yet.. I think it holds 10 3600 boxes and a ton of other stuff he lugs around. Really inexpensive. https://www.cabelas.com/product/BPS-QUALIFIER-BACKPACK/2967741.uts?slotId=9
