  1. Thanks A-Jay, yup it can be the Mutant saltwater version of Walleye. Nasty teeth.
  2. Visit to my in-laws turns out to be great. Went to San Francisco with my wife for a visit during the weekend a 6 hour drive from Southern California. Sneaked out Sunday morning bet 8:00 am - 11:00am, armed with Conquest 100 on CUC 63H with 6' 25#s Mono Leader on 20# braid. Tied a 4"BigHammer swimbait with 1/2 Oz Leadhead. Started working the area but no bites or bump for the first hour. Fan casting the area and then finally on the last hour got a hit. While fighting the fish it felt like a bass and I was telling myself..be a ling ..be a ling..be a ling....and LingCod it is. Not the biggest but I'm really happy to tick that one from my list. The best thing about this trip is, I got good points from my wife and Got the Ling tick out from my list. It's like shooting two birds with one stone and actually hitting them.. Thanks for reading!
  3. What J said... and to sum it up...Go for Toyota instead of Ford. They last longer.
  4. I wish they come up with the CU100B series with CI4 material. That would the great. I still have my CU100B and it's casting better than my CU200E5, and working smoothly.
  5. 20# PP s8s with 3ft 15# FC leader for topwater and Jerkbait. Using leader for topwater result to less tangle on the hooks compared to straight braid.
  6. Every time my reel have a back-play, it means its time for cleaning and maintenance.
  7. Yup, What J and Capt said. Got the TSI301 from Detectorbuy.com thru TSI301 website. Shipping and handling is kind of expensive though. http://www.detectorbuy.com/shop/cart.php?target=category&category_id=256
  8. Yup, I also had he same situation when I ordered a couple of handle knob cap. They sent it in a box that can fit a reel. I thought the sent me a free reel when I saw the box in my front door step.. Haha..
  9. There's no reason to replace your current braid, 14# Fireline is fine. Try to use different # of leader FC or Mono to adjust to the application. Use Alberto Knot for joining leader to braid. Use Palomar Knot when tying the lure. But if you want a better braid without breaking the bank, go with PP S8S or Sufix 832. You can find them on sale from time to time.
  10. I used to have a shoulder problem. Rotator cuff issue for a year from repeated casting using a heavy weight and tip heavy setup, now it heals up and never had the problem by using a well balance light weight setup. Repeated lob casting style also tends to aggravates the issue. Side casting is much easier for the shoulder. Here's my solutions: My lightest Spinning Combo Crucial Dropshot 6'8" Med - 2.7 Oz CI4 2500 - 7.0 Oz ---- 9.7 Oz My lightest baitcaster combo : Phenix UMBX 6'6" M - 3.4 Oz Calcutta 50XT - 6.6 Oz (Lightest Aluminum round reel.) ------ 10,0 Oz Phenix UMBX 6'6" H - 3.4 Oz Core 100 - 6.1 Oz ----- 9.5 Oz Cumara 6'3" M - 3.5 Oz ITO 103M - 6.0 Oz ------- 9.5 OZ
  11. Samurai is a bit thinner that usual, just like Kanzen. Tried the 20# on baitcaster, it kept on snapping and digging in the spool like Kanzen. I like PP Super8Slick and 832 better.
  12. I'm not sure what extra reel magnets are you referring to? But there's no magnet in CH50Mg. Just like Hooligan said no need for upgrades necessary.
  13. Go with Crucial.
  14. What Hooligan said. Shimano's answer to swept handle is by positioning the handle closer to the body by placing the start drag positioned after the handle instead of before the handle. Sample application is the new Calcutta D.
  15. Tried that before. Plugging a power handle from Abu Revo Inshore in to a Shimano Calcutta 200 GTE, it did not work well. The hole in the Abu Power handle is too big and resulted to a wiggle or play when fitted to Calcutta 200. Same result will happen when plugged in to Cardiff.
  16. I use my Calcutta 100 DC with Phenix UMBX 66M for casting 3" big hammer swimbait on 1/4 lead head and 1/2-5/8oz jerkbait like LC FM110 or RC STIX 110. Yeah, love that whining sound.
  17. Tried the Kanzen 20# on baitcaster, the line was too thin it was thinner than most braid. It seems to have a 2# mono diameter for a 20# rating. It snaps too easily. Tried in on spinning and works fine.
  18. Yeah bring back the CH50Mg but change the material to a CI4/Rarium material instead of Magnesium and call it CH50Ra . So I would not worry using them in Brackish and Salt water.
  19. Cumara CUC 63M Fast Action for Zara spook jr to Gunfish 115. Cumara CUC 63H Fast Action for Gunfish 115 to Super Spook.
  20. Sold out...Hmmm.. That's strange, I just add one to my shopping cart to try if it's sold out and it added to my cart...I think you should try again, http://www.cabelas.c...514&WTz_l=Chart
  21. Sahara...cabelas has it on sale for $44.99 today.
  22. Yes, Sufix 832 is a lot better. Although the Power Pro Slick 8 is better than Sufix 832. It's a lot smoother. I guess my search for better braid is done, I would stick to PP Slick 8 and Sufix 832.
  23. First Cast was with a Seaguar Abrazx 15# - 3 ft leader. Second cast was straight braid. Rod: Phenix UMBX 66H. Lures: Lucky Craft FM110.
  24. Tested a Seaguar Kanzen Braid 20# on Shimano Conquest 100. Pros: 1. Very thin diameter, thinner than Ohero Braid, as thin as Daiwa Samurai. 2. Smooth 3. Rounded. Cons: 1. Too thin 2. Snaps too easily. Recommendation: Don't bother to buy the 20#, it's a piece of crap. Made two cast = Two Snapped lined = Good bye two expensive lures. Called Cabelas to return 2 spools of 300 yrds of 20# and 10# Kanzen.
