  1. For all we know the Japanese love the USDM rod and reel, just because they want to be different from the locals just like us here.
  2. I think the best one of Chronarch series is the CH50MG. The most sought-after.
  3. Phenix rods also has the upgrade option. They also have the replacement warranty for $50.
  4. It's not really about which application it will excel. It's all about owning a nice reel. Go for it
  5. Good to hear that you found a good Shimano baitcaster for you but I have to warn you though. Those thing are like Gremlins once you get used to it and got them wet. They starts multiplying.
  6. Shimano and Daiwa no cost, no question asked. Plus their main offices are driving distance from my house.
  7. Definitely Bait caster. Tried it on spinning and it just does not feel right for me.
  8. I believe all shimano reels are saltwater approved. Even the DC and Magnesium reels. Not all Daiwa reels are saltwater approved. Especially their Magnesium Reels.
  9. I even use CORE 100 MG and Conguest for inshore Saltwater fishing regularly. What I do before using the reel the first time is disassemble and grease the sidewall and other metal parts. Lots of grease on the Idle gear bearing/housing. After that a regular maint and running fresh water while cranking the gears will do. I will get some rusted bearing when even I forgot to give then a regular cleaning. The ones that usually get rusted are the spool bearing on the cast control and the Idle bearing, bearing next to the pinion gear.
  10. Pretty good size striper!
  11. I love the GLoomis CBR843. I added some weights on the butt end to make it more balance.
  12. Pretty entertaining thread..got to post before it goes south and locked.
  13. Those dartanium drags or stock drags needs to be greased to work effectively and smooth. Grease them with CALs grease. The only drag washers that is sometimes recommended running dry is the carbontex drag washers.
  14. I think you mean; some folks prefer no Instant anti-reverse. It will be like a knuckle buster reel without any anti-reverse.
  15. Yes, it is worth fixing. Curado Bantam is one of shimano's best models.

  17. Here's a good side by side comparison with 100 and 50 size.
  18. Thank you all for the nice comments! Thanks. We actually do call the big ones like this as Doormat or Barn Door.
  19. I have the Curado 100B and Curado 200e. I like the Curado 100B better. I have not use the CU200B size.
  20. Woke up early to meet my buddy in the surf. Tide was high and water is calm and clear. IT was lake like condition. I needed a casting distance so I use my Core 100 on GLoomis CBR843 with 20# PP S8S. Started at 6:30am, fan casting the beach. A few bait fish jumping here and there but no bites for the first hour and a half. While talking to my buddy I got a hit, set the hook and game on. This one gave me good long runs almost thought it was a Bay Ray until I see some colors. Here she is 37" California Halibut from the surf.
  21. I got the Clarus, Crucial and Cumara. I would go for the Cumara next is Crucial.
