  1. I have better accuracy using baitcaster than a spinning setup. I could safely say 65% hit the target with 1- 2 ft radius at 60-80 ft distance using a baitcaster on 6'6"ft rod. I would be lucky to hit the same one time with a spinning setup.
  2. I would go with my Conquest 100 with GLX MBR 783. But really, where's the fun of just having one rig.
  3. Dodgeguy, you should try to secure the combo of Calcutta 50XT, its the lightest aluminum round reel out there 6.6Oz with Cumara 6'3" M - 3.5Oz. Total of 10,1 Oz Combo. Great light weight combo without breaking the bank.
  4. I hope it turns out well for you but If I were you I would test the reel that you just received for at least 3 months before even thinking of buying more. Just because it looks nice and cheap does not mean it would be a good investment. Be a smart buyer. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
  5. As the famous Chinese trading catch phrase goes "Mai Yi Song Yi"........ buy one take one..
  6. All we are saying is that most of the products that are made in china are questionable in quality so why take the risk. I used to go for savings as priority when buying things but until I realized it is costing more in both time and effort fixing the d**n thing plus the cost of fixing it. But..You can always try it... It's your money anyway. Maybe you'll get lucky and get your money's worth. It's a hit and miss when dealing with Chinese products anyway. But mostly miss.
  7. If you don't know what areas are covered in quality control then I guess you really don't know what it takes to make a quality product. You don't even need to go to a Chinese factory to know if they have a good quality control, their end product will tell.
  8. It's not about the labor itself, it is more of the quality control they follow or implement on producing the products. Chinese products have poor quality control, I would stay away from Stradics or any Shimano or Daiwa products when it's made in China. Imagine.. a Conquest 100 made it China for half the prize.. Geez .. they can have it.
  9. That's a good eating!
  10. That's a fly rod probably wt 3
  11. You mentioned you tried the cheap bait caster, I'm not be surprised you did not like it. Next time you try it again, try a decent one like a Curado 50e or better yet get a better one like Calcutta 50 or 100 GTE or a Core 50. I'm pretty sure you will like it more than spinning unless you are casting pretty light lures like anything below 1/4 oz or casting on windy days.
  12. You just visited the place and you think you already know what the locals want. I lived and worked there for a year but I would not consider knowing everything about them. I just happen to know what my friends want. It's an Asian thing we just like to own one or two things from abroad that is not readily available in the local market and sometimes not because it's a superior product but mostly to have that pride of ownership.
  13. If you are just doing salt water inshore fishing a fresh water bass rod would be just fine for saltwater. I use G Loomis CBR, GLX, Cumara, Dobyns DX, Phenix UMBX for saltwater and they just work great.
  14. All the while I thought they kept it here. Oh well..there goes Van Staal quality.
  15. Don't forget the Van Staal reels.
  16. For off shore fishing, AVET Reels are made in USA.
  17. Trust me, your point of reference is quite off. Why would anyone compare a Lambo with Echo Haven't you heard of LFA ? You should put it this way, If you are in Japan, when all your friends are driving LFA, you get a Lambo to be different. In Europe, when all your friends are driving a Lambo, you get an LFA to be different. Around here, when all your friends are driving a Corvette, you get a Beemer to be different. In fishing here, when all your friends are using CT100 GTE, you get a Conquest 100.
  18. Ouch..Good thing it's a shimano. You can always send to shimano and get a new one for replacement for free.
  19. The picture you posted just shows how tip heavy your rod is. I don't consider that anything near a balance rod but to each his own. You don't need to go custom built to get a well balance rod. You just need to see what out there in the market and not to limit yourself to what you already have and know. Good sample are: For spinning/dropshot try: Crucial Dropshot 68MH 2.7Oz - it's a well balance rod and perfect for CI4 and FD or FI or FJ. For Casting try the following: Cumara 6'3 M - 3.8 - Oz Perfect for light to heavy reels like CH50MG/CORE 100 to Conquest 100 or 50 size. Anyway, a CI4 or an FJ you could not get wrong as long as your rod is balanced to begin with.
  20. It only means your rods are tip heavy to begin with and you are using the reel as counter balance. The reel weigh should have a little to no effect on a well balance rod. It will only affect it if you adjust where you are holding the rod but if you hold the rod at the center of the reel seat, a balance rod will always be balanced. That's the reason we refer it to a well balance rod and not a well balance Rod and Reel.
  21. With the budget of $120.. I would recommend to check the fleabay and look for a used Phenix UMBX 6'6" Medium or Heavy / Fast action. In my experience it would be closed to having a GLX MBR 783. It's a good all around rod.
