  1. you are making a wild guess..Here's the weights of 7' rods for both. MBR 843 GLX ---- 4.5 Oz DX703 ------------- 5.2 Oz I just like this one. A MBR 783 GLX ---- 4.0 Oz
  2. The DX is heavier in total weight a tad more tip heavier than the GLX. The DX blank is fat, I guess that accounts for the extra weight.
  3. I got the DX703 and MBR 783 GLX. I prefer using the GLX.
  4. I also like the invizx but I switched to abrazix after testing and finding out that it has higher break point compared to invizx. I guess because it is more abrasion resistant.
  5. no fabric softener ...oh crap.. no wonder my gore tex jacket looks old now.
  6. First of, Welcome to Bass Resource board. Now, the question is, how far are you casting Lucky Craft FM 110 with your current rod? If you are reaching 80ft from the sand line, it is already ideal cast for targeting halibut, Halibuts bites usually happens between 60 ft - 5 ft from the sand line. You can't go wrong with the Shimano Crucial. Longer rod means farther cast, but if you are mainly targeting halibut from the surf rods between 6'6" - 7'6" is already long enough but others would prefer 8footer to cast further. You should be looking for a rod with lure weight of 1/4 - 3/4 oz . Action between MH and H, rod length between 6.6" - 7'6'. Rod weight between 3.2 - 4 0z and ideally to have it balance since you'll be casting and retrieving the whole time. BTW, when targeting halibut from the surf, it's more on finding the structure and less on casting distance. Try to learn how to read the surf/water to find the structure. Tight lines.
  7. I use the stock dartainium washer for light to ultra light setup. It smoother and gives more degree of drag adjustments compared to carbontex. I use carbontex when I needed more drag.
  8. A two piece rod always comes tip heavier than it's one piece counter part. It's obviously because of the added weight in the connector or joint.
  9. It always come with a small plastic bottle of oil on shimano baitcaster. The Last reels I got in a box is the Curado 50e and all 3 boxes got oil on each box from American Legacy Fishing
  10. As what most of the folks say except for LMB, it's a matter of preference. But I like BC a lot better than spinning. There..i'm in, before this thing get's locked.
  11. Conquest 50 on Cumara 6'3" Medium. Love this combo for finesse casting small hardbait 1/4oz - 1/2 Oz.

  14. Biodegrade fishing line only means it has shorter shelf life and shorter life compared to the standard line. I guessed they put it on sale to get rid of it before they totally disintegrates
  15. I guess they made my wish fulfilled but even better a Chronarh with CI4 material. Just saying.
  16. I guess we all got tired of arguing which brand is better..it get's old. Just go with what you got and try to enjoy it.
  17. I used mine to trade to a 100 size.
  18. Cheap VS Expensive... They both do the work just fine but the expensive/quality reels are a joy to use. You can't tell the difference until you use the expensive/quality reel for years. The maintenance cost for both cheap and expensive reels are practically the same so it's not worth keeping the cheapy ones for a long time. Plus it holds it's value. A lot of folks are willing to pay for the second hand expensive/quality reels without paying the list/original price. It's just like cars, guys who never had any long driving experience with an expensive car like let say beemer will never understand the difference until they have driven the beemer for years. Some folks may say that there's no practical reason for it but to each his own.
  19. Good for you, cause mine is not an isolated case since my fishing buddy also have the same issue with his Calcutta DC 100
  20. There's two places that could make the Calcutta DC acting up. 1. Spool bearing issue. - If oiled too much, - lacks cleaning/oil. - Incorrect type of oil used. ( I remember talking to a shimano rep and they say they use special oil design for it. I use TSi 301 which works fine ) 2. When the light sensor is not clean enough. ( you need to clean the sensor with cotton buds and alcohol ) When the DC start's acting up, you would not hear the humming sound and it will go bird's nest after bird's nest. I would have 8 bird's nest out of 10 cast. It's pretty difficult to maintain to keep it to the correct oil maint. Oh yeah, I use mine for inshore Saltwater, I guess that why it gets issue more often compared to the one's used in freshwater only. But once you have maintain it correctly, it's a joy to use.
  21. It's good to hear that shimano was able to correct the issue on the DC models, the Calcutta DC is quite a pain in the arse when the DC starts acting up.
  22. Cumara 6'3" M Gen 1 you can find one in fleabay.
  23. I have spooled a couple of my baitcaster with PPS8 and it was great no issue with digging in the spool, and I've landed fish over 10#s with it and no issue with line digging. I also have spooled a couple of my baitcaster with 832 and it was great no issue with digging in the spool. I'm using 20#s rating for both PPS8 and 832. I like the PPS8 better since it is more abrasive resistant than 832. The only downside is that the PPS8 is a bit thicker than 832 so your losing some capacity but not by much.
  24. Well I guess I have to practice feathering on spinning reel. Thanks!
  25. With baitcaster you can acutally smoothly control the distance where the lure falls by feathering the spool where as in spinner you have less control on the amount of line the comes out of the spool, you can't really feather.
