  1. It's actually small container and the good thin about it is it's available on most autp parts shop for around $7.00. I got mine from PEPBoys
  2. AR Bearing gets sticky after several months of use. You'll notice it when you spin the handle on a baitcaster on free spool, the handle only turns a couple of rotation compared to a new reel the handle will turn at least 10 rotations Soaking the AR bearing will do the trick but takes a while until it totally gets clean. Remember it's not advisable to soak the AR bearing in acetone since the roller racers are plastic. Flushing them with Mineral spirit or kerosene using an oiler pump on a bearing blaster does a great job. All Oiler pump are not created equal and I found this oiler pump to be the one that squirts with a lot of pressure compared to my old oiler. You can blow out the excess cleaner or kerosen using a canned duster, just be sure to have the roller clutch inner tube inserted in the AR-bearing to avoid the rollers to be displaced from the air pressure. enjoy!
  3. The one in the picture that is heavily greased is the Drive shaft bearing. The side plate that house the driveshaft bearing also needs to be heavily greased since saltwater usually get's trapped in it. Yes, you don't grease the AR bearings. I use a few drops of corrosion x for the AR-Bearings, one too many drops would make it slip. For spool bearings on baitcaster, I use TSi 301 oil. This one is the best one I have used for saltwater since it does not get sticky like the Reel X oil. Spinning reels, I use Reel X since it is thicker. Actually using the shimano oil that comes in the box with the shimano reels would do just fine for spinning reels.
  4. If you are planning to use those nice bass reels for saltwater inshore fishing. Here’s you got to do before using them. Open them up: and clean them with: use a bowl and small brush for cleaning: Grease these parts This one needs heavy greasing. Then put them back together and they are ready to go: Don't forget to oil all the other bearings. Here's some tools you might need when you heavily into maintaining and pimping your reels. Tool caddy: This one works like a lazy susan.
  5. The Core Star Drag is metal, The original 50e Star Drag is a composite material.
  6. That would be very nice, I would consider doing that later on. Thanks for the idea.
  7. I would go for a Curado 50e, look for it at flee bay and save up for a nice rod like the Cumara 6'3M or Phenix UMBX 6'6 M.
  8. I like the Curado 50e so much so I decided to upgrade one of my 50e Parts: 1. Core 50 Mg Star Drag 2. Core 50 Mg Thumb bar 3. Conquest 50 handle assembly. From this: to this: From this: To this: Now this 50e has 4 additional bearings
  9. Congrats on your first high end reel. But I do have to warn you, there's no going back now.
  10. I'm glad it worked pretty well for you Goose!
  11. It happened to my Revo when some of the parts inside the tension knob fell off. Check the schematics and compare it to what's inside your Revo tension knob.
  12. That's what pretty much happens when someone tries to argue on something that they do not have a first hand information
  13. I will try that 321 next time. Thanks .ghoti.
  14. Got it from online store.. just do a search on bearing blaster..like rpmrcproducts.com
  15. Between the GLX and DX, I could not tell if one is more sensitive than the other since they are both sensitive rods but I like the GLX better.
  16. Use a Bearing Blaster. Bearing Blaster is pretty neat tool. It has two parts one to hold the bearing in place and the other one is to cover the bearing edges which has a hole where you you stick in those CRC/Carb Cleaner/ nossle/straw. Use a CRC brake cleaner w/ bearing blaster to blast out those gunk. The bearing would be sandwich between the bottom plastic and the top plastic. Use your hand to press down the cover while the other hand sprays in the cleaner. The force of the compress cleaner will blast the cleaner into the bearing. Should look like this when preparing. I place the bearing plaster in a bowl catch all the excess cleaner when flushing the bearings.
  17. I believe you are talking about oiling bearing for spinning reels since you mainly use spinning as you mentioned in most of your post. Spinning reels are not directly affected by the oil or condition of the bearings when talking about casting distance. I actually like using a thicker oil for spinning reels for added protection from rusting. Baitcaster on the other hand decrease its casting distance when thick oil are used, even an extra drop of oil will greatly affect its casting. Especially with Calcutta DC, TSi301 is the only one that I can use on DC that would not mess the casting distance. Even shimano indicates that they use a special oil for the spool bearings for the DC models.
  18. I guess you have not tried TSi301.
  19. TSi301. It's the only one that I don't have to reapply for at least 3 months with my reels I use in saltwater compared to Reel X which I need to reapply every month to get that smooth long casting distance. I think my reels for freshwater last at least 6 months before I need to re-apply TSi301. This oil evaporate and does not leave any sticky residue on the bearings leaving it smooth and lubricated for longer time compared to other reel oil like the shimano, reelx or abu oil.
  20. I take out the seals or shields and leave them w/o it. Easier to flush and clean.
  21. Yeah, that stock handle from CT 50 is really short. Using the Chronarch handle parts would make it look something like this: Merry Christmas Goose!
  22. You can consider building the handle using the Chronarch 2005e handle parts..Handle shank, washers, handle knob, handle cup, handle knob screw for a total of around $15. Plus you can re-use your spare bearings, existing calcutta handle nut and nut retainer. Only down side is that the shank can only take two bearings instead of four. The Chronach handle shank has drilled holes and looks better than the plain Calcutta B series handle, IMHO.
  23. What trey said.. Do not go for the DC... The DC is too finicky.. I got the CT 100 DC and I hardly use it. The Conquest 50 and the Conquest 100 are a joy to use.
  24. Yeah, what John said: Conquest 50 or 100 if you need a larger capacity.
