  1. 2X And the same can be said with Big Hammer swimbait. The 3" swimbait is my go to lure. It's the one that I always have on my vest pocket for Saltwater or Freshwater fishing.
  2. I would go with Shimano. They have quality product backed by quality customer service.
  3. I would go with Shimano Sahara. It's like a tank, mine does not sieze up even if I use it in saltwater. Minimal maintenance and it keeps on going smooth. It's a lot better than the Daiwa Tierra, Tierra seems to need a little more maintenance than the Sahara.
  4. Just phone in your order they would know which one. I just order one for a Chronarch 50Mg three weeks ago. They charge $6 for a set + $1 shipping, it came in with the invoice indicating Calcutta instead of Chronarch 50MG. The bigger drag washer is not an exact match, it has a smaller inside diameter but fits inside the drive gear. Works well for me.
  5. I like the Seaguar Inviz X. It's a lot better than Vanish imho.
  6. I'm sure you got a bait caster than can out cast anything that I have... The original poster ask if there is something wrong with his new Revo Premier and we all agree that there is nothing wrong with it. Everybody is happy and we all go on with our happy life. Have a nice day bro!
  7. What he said. It cast better that way, I have a revo inshore and the levelwind does not engaged on free spool.
  8. every time you suggest this product i think about the traveling salesman from Outlaw Josey Wales. where the salesman is offering the product to Josey, and then Josey spits on the guys jacket. i wonder if Goo Gone would clean the guys jacket........ im going to get a starter bottle of that stuff, not to clean my reels, but just to see what else it will clean. ;D well, if you ask me how to catch a halibut from the surf using a bass tackle probably I would give you a different answer Beside I think the internet board is all about sharing ideas, may it be a small or big a thing. It's always nice to share. btw, thank you for sharing your thoughts.
  9. "Goo Gone" at wal-mart for cleaing bearings.
  10. a few drops of corrosion x is good to keep it smooth and prevent rusting. Do not over lube it.
  11. ;D ;D ;D funny chit!
  12. Berkley should come up with a better name..like trojan .. ;D Sorry can't help it!
  13. I'm able to justify getting a core 100mg and phenix ultra MBX rod cause i needed a really light weight setup, but replacing sufix braid with samurai...I just can't seem to pull the trigger. Getting a couple of Luckycraft fm 110 is much easier to justify. :-[
  14. I'm sure Dawai Samurai is best, it cost more than double the price of sufix performance braid. Hmmnn if i can only justify and convince myself to get the samurai braid. :-[
  15. Thanks for catching that Wayne, after using spider wire one time I totally avoided and forget that line.
  16. Try abec #7 orange seal ceramic bearings and you'll be surprised with the results. Office Zip bearings are not the same as the Boca bearings, they use different materials. Office ZIP use SiC, Boca uses Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) for their ceramic bearings. When choosing a bearing upgrade go with the company that specialize on bearings don't go with one stop shop company.
  17. You don't need to wait for the warranty to expire to enjoy doing upgrades on your reels. Besides most expensive reels are backed up with limited lifetime warranty. So if you are going to wait for the warranty to expire, most likely you already got a new reel before it ever expires. Then you'll not be able to take advantage of new tech / materials in the market. But if you are satisfied with the stock reels then enjoy. I just got my shimano core 100mg last month and upgraded it after 3 weeks of use w/ abec #7 ceramic bearings and now I'm enjoying it more. It was casting further and feels smoother.
  18. I tried the fireline crystal, power pro, suffix performance braid and the stren spiderwire. All braids are sensitive since there are no stretch on it. Stren spider wire limp and flat, tends to dig in the spool and cost you lures on a snap when casting. Fireline crystal - good one but tends to get loose strands after several outing due to line rubbing against the ring guide. It loses it wax coating after several outing. It's thicker than most braid. Power pro good but noisy on the retrieve. You can hear the line rubbing against the rod tip. You can feel that it's not smooth when you run your finger on the. Sufix performance braid love this one. It's not noisy on the retrieve and the line is smoother and more rounded. Other expensive braids like Samurai braid- I did not bother to try since I'm happy with the suffix performance braid and besides that samurai is just too expensive. There's a $10 mail in rebate for 300 yards of Sufix and $6 rebate on 150 yards. I always tie a 3 yards of 12# FC on my 20# braid, this way I have a good fighting chance of pulling out the fish when they go into the rocks. All Braids tend to break easily when it get rub against the rock.
  19. I use Cal's Drag Grease on my Carbontex wahers in my Inshore and here is a trick to get more drag # I'm getting over 24lbs with my washers GREASED !!!!! Move one of the drag washers under anti-rev bushing. Thanks. I'm going to try that!
  20. Applying cals grease on carbontex drag would make your drag slip. My revo inshore slips when I apply some cals grease, I could get about 3 to 4#s of drag only when I apply grease on the carbontex. The abu rep tech advice me not to apply drag grease on the carbontex. I use my revo inshore for saltwater surf fishing so I apply a thin layer of cals grease on metal drag washer now I'm getting some decent drag but not near the listed 24# drag for revo inshore.
  21. Boca ABC #7 Ceramic bearings cast better and retrieves smoother than steel bearings. It last longer since there's less parts to get rusted. I upgrade my chronarch 50mg with ABEC #7 orange seal and I can feel the see the difference right at the very first cast. I recently upgraded my core 100mg with ABEC #7 and i'm excited to see how it would perform this weekend. Casting advantage is only about 10% but it feels good The only down side is the price but you'll gonna love it!
  22. Opening the access to the bearings is just half the job; you still need to clean it before adding oil. Adding oil w/o cleaning the bearings would not really solve most of the bearing issues. If cleaning and lubing does not help, then it's a good time to replace the bearings with Boca ABEC #7 ceramic bearings. It does not matter how old or new is your reel; the bearings get rusted first when reels are not maintained. If you don't want to use carburetor or brake cleaning agent for cleaning the bearings then your best bet is goo gone. Happy Diy.
  23. Try soaking the spool bearings on a brake cleaner or carb cleaner, but you need a hazmat globes when dealing with those cleaning agent or you can use a goo gone. Soak it on goo gone and try to spin it, if its spinning fast and long. Repeat the process until its spinning free and long. Blow dry the bearings with a compress air in cans. Add a tiny bit of Reel X oil, spin it again to spread the oil inside the bearings. Wipe off any excess oil or blow off the excess oil. Reinstall the bearings.
  24. I've started using spiral rods or acid rod and I'm loving it. It cast well and I could go for less ring guides which makes it lighter. Here are some reasons to go for Acid rod: Spiral wraps make it less torque on the rod when fighting heavy fish.. This way you can have a lighter rod for heavy application. Casting distance is about the same conventional rod. The spiral prevents the line from touching the blank with less guide compared to a conventional since the guide is already pointing downwards. This results in a rod which will not twist under load and is inherently stable." Anyone else tried using it?
