  1. Cool! Interesting info.! Thanks for sharing.
  2. Use a more rounded braid like sufix performance braid. I use 20# sufix braid and never had any issues of line digging in. Spider wire braid are flat and tends to dig in the spool.
  3. I use braid w/ 2 yards floro leader for all my baitcasting. Does not affect sensitivty, can feel the slightest tick on the the lure. I use Uni 4 turns on the fc and Bloodknot 13 turns on the braid.
  4. I guess you have not seen this test on braid and mono against the rocks.
  5. Two scenarios where leader is a must with braid: 1. When working the topwater lure for walk the dog, to minimizes line tangle. 2. When working on rocky structure spots. Braids snaps easily when rubbed against sharp edge rocks.
  6. Wow $4.98 piece for magic swimmer 125 on white lady pattern !!! awesome deal.. fish them slow like what Bassthumb said. If the wiggle action is too fast for your application, replace hooks with heavier ones.
  7. CTE 100 DC - this one is a piece of art. Core 100 - light weight, cast far and smooth drag. Calais 200 - cast far and super smooth, smoother than cte 100 DC. Shimano all the way..
  8. I like my rods with small foregrips for topwater walk-the-dog, so I can rest my pointer finger on it when twitching the rod. But for jerkbait and swimbait like magic swimmer, I rather have NO fore grip at all. I don't see any advantage for me having that when working jerbaits like LC Flash Minnow and Vision Ito 110. JMHO
  9. 20# Sufix performance Braid with 6ft 12# FlouroCarbon leader. Its easier to move the bait especially on a long cast. Mono has downside - stretches and absorb some of the rod action.
  10. Magic Swimmer 95 is also my best producer. 8-)
  11. baitcasting is the way to go. It should be light weight, Fast action and well balanced rod. 6'3" Heavy/Fast Cumara Reaction. glue a dime and a quarter on the butt end to correct the balance. Total weight w/ a dime and a quarter 4.0oz 6'6" Heavy/Fast Phenix Ultra MBX, this is already well balanced.Total weight 3.4Oz
  12. I've bought a number of Luck Craft FM110 from them from time to time. They are pretty reliable and the price is good. I think the site is having some technical issues...
  13. here's the specs from tackle direct. SHM-0015 fits Baitcast for Calais® 100, 200 Series Callisto® 100 Series Castaic® 200 Series Chronarch® 100, 50 Series Citica® 200 Series Coriolis® 100 Series Crestfire® 100 Series Curado® 100, 200 Series The one from tackle whorehouse seems to look better.
  14. Got it using Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110. It's 36" and weights 22 pounds. It bit no further than 50ft from the sand line.
  15. OHYA.com has 25% using code: holiday25 CU50E after the discount => $149.96 No shipping charge and no sale tax. they still have some in stock. They are reliable, I recently bought Daiwa Cielo 66DS for $85.00 delivered form them. Orig price is $350.00
  16. I replace almost all stock hooks on hardbaits like Lucky craft, Vision Ito Megabass, sebile magic swimmer and others with owner ST41. I've lost enough good size fish on straighten, broken and bent hooks. The only time I dont replace the stock hooks is when I'm fishing for smaller fish like trouts and bonita.
  17. i had a pin hole once in my sock footing waders from a puncture by a small stingray, when I accidentally step on one. I patched it up with Gorilla masking tape on both sides. Works great. You can also try this waders patch from LL beans. Aqua Seal Wader Repair Kit http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/59414?from=SR&feat=sr last day for free shipping today.
  18. Excellent explanation on balancing the rod, but I have to disagree with you with the bait caster rod not being able to adjust the balance on them. Both bait-casting and spinning rods can have their balance be adjusted. The orientation of the reel seat has little to no effect on the balance of the rod. The same can be said with the weight of the reel you slap on it, they would not change the balance of the rod. Just think of it as a seesaw, no matter what load you put in on top of the fulcrum point, it does not affect the balance or load on any end points of the seesaw. The fulcrum point in rods will be where you are holding it, which is right where the reel is seated
  19. 1. Sebile Magic Swimmer 110 2. Zara Spook Jr 3. LuckyCraft Lipless Slim Pointer 110.
  20. If you only had one rod, what would it be? I'll go with Phenix Ultra MBX 660H, it's 3.4oz, sensitive and well balance. Paired with CORE 100MG or CH50 MG. I could cast a 1/4 leadhead w/ 3" soft swimbait to 1 oz hardbait with good distance. It's pretty light and well balanced that I could walk-the-dog all day without any fatigue.
  21. Washers corrode. after reading this i checked a rod that had washers for 2 season and they still looked like new. if a person is really worried i guess they could spend $.50 a pack more and get zinc. Why bother to drive to a hardware store just to get a pack of 50 cents zinc washers when Quarters are readily available around the house, saves you the drive . Besides you only one or two quarters at the most to correct the balance of a good rod. If it needs more than 3 quarters to correct the balance then you might as well just buy another rod. Besides they might come in handy for a phone call ;D -- Good one B-Dozer!
