  1. Have anyone had a chance to use the new Fuji Finepix X100 ? The pix is so amazingly clear: Try clicking to magnify the fix .. http://a.img-dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmx100/samples/flash/f56.jpg
  2. When tightening or cinching the knot, always pull the tag end first instead of the leader side. This way any nick or abrasion created during tightening/cinching of the knot will be in the tag end after the hook. There's little stretch in the leader and no stretch on the braid so breaks off happen more compared to straight mono. You might want to back off the drag setting a bit to compensate for no stretch.
  3. I'm a righty but learned how to cast with my left arm when I had the 'frozen shoulder' on my right shoulder. Now I cast with either arm but prefer to cast with my left.
  4. Check if the one you have has the new body version, it should have 3 drain holes in the bottom. If it's not the new body, you can send it to shimano and the will replace the body plus add some more parts that goes with the new version. The new version has a better corrosion resistant coating. They will even clean the reel while they are at it, all for free. I like the stock bearings in the CH50 MG better than the boca abec 7, it is quiet. The drags doesn't really stutter they are smooth but you can be improved by replacing them with carbontex. Other than that, you can pimp it by replacing the handle with carbon fiber but the stock reel is fun to use as it is. The CH50 MG is one of my favorite for topwater lures, it is smooth on the retrieve, cast light lures and best of all lite weight and saltwater approved.
  5. I bought one. Use it a couple of times and didn't like it a bit. Color is too bright, the ring guides are huge for a baicaster. Now it's part of my collection in the garage collecting dust.
  6. True, bone color is always a producer. You might also want to check out the Duel Side Popper. When Sammy, Gunfish and Super Spook do not produced. It's either the Zara Spook Jr(3 1/2", 1/2oz) or the Duel side popper that gets them to bite for me.
  7. Labor alone will cost you at least $100, then add the cost of blank, tip, guides and handle. With a budget of $160+, you're better off buying a factory made.
  8. Luckcraft jerkbaits come with owner st36 hooks.
  9. good for you.. just look at my brand new rod.. it already looks like 5 year old rod afer using Daiwa Samurai on one weekend. Even my nails got the green patina pattern.
  10. local wal-mart usually carry them.
  11. Owner ST41 2X #4 and #6.
  12. Daiwa Samurai bleeds so bad, it can turn your new rod cork handle into patina green.
  13. Try out the model with DC as last two letter in Calcutta. Like the CTE 100 DC
  14. i don't think it would work, the jig head will prevent the hook from sliding to the side of the mouth of the fish. It could mean a lot of missed hit.
  15. yup, it's one of the best right now. quite and smooth on the retrieve!
  16. wait till you get CTE 100 DC, you'll be in heaven.
  17. Well I guessed there's none yet from Lucky craft. I'll probably would just go for River2Sea Dahlberg Diver Frog.
  18. Have anyone seen or used a Lucky Craft Frog?
  19. Calcutta CTE50GT or CTE100GT if you can't find the size 50.
  20. Tip heavy rod/setup will always get you fatigue after long hours of casting and retrieving lures. Unless you are soaking bait and put them on rod holders
  21. Daiwa is also good. Their service center is only a mile and a half from where I live. I used to drop by and checking my Tierra Spinning and Coastal Inshore reels and they repair and clean them up for free except when they replace the bearings. But Shimano did something better when I had the discontinued Chronarch 50MG corroded after using several times it in Saltwater. I Called up Shimano and they said that I might had the old version of the 50MG, so I send it in and they replaced the body for free. Up to now my CH 50MG runs smooth like new. If only Daiwa can make their MG reels Saltwater approve and at lower price like Shimano, I might have gone back to Daiwa. Oh well can't have it all.
  22. Give it a shot and let us know how it performs. But I think banjo minnow looks more convincing Oh and don't forget the catch phrase "Genetic Response"
  23. yeah, I will load that bearing with grease next time. yes, I always give it a good rinse after use. Thanks J!
  24. I had the Curado 200E5 for almost two years and I use if for Saltwater Inshore fishing. It's the bearing in the pinion gear that needed replacement. It has that grainy feeling on the retrieve when pressure is applied. I was too lazy not to re-apply grease on that specific bearing to protect it from the elements since part of it is exposed when you remove the spool.
  25. Called up shimano service to order a bearing for Curado E5 and an O-ring for Calcutta 50. Talk to the guy and gave him the part number and then he asked if there's anything else I needed, I answered that's it. Then he said it will be in the mail free of charge. Wow, I was stoked How can you beat that! Shimano customer support is the best! Just saying.
