  3. Hello everyone, I wanted to put this out there for any Ohio anglers; my club, The Henry County Bassmasters has affiliated with the Bass Federation and Ohio Bass Federation. We are the only club in "Region 2" or Northwest Ohio. If you are a NW Ohio, SE MI or NE Indiana angler and want to join a club based around learning, conservation and friendly competition, this is the club for you.
  4. What are some colors in soft plastics you can’t leave home without? I wanna expand my horizon from Green Pumpkin and Watermelon
  5. I love the Pflueger Patriarch spinning reel. It is one of my favorite spinning reels on the market.
  6. Hello everyone. I wanted to post in here to let people know that there is a new club out of the Napoleon area in NW Ohio. It is called the Henry County Bassmasters. It was started this year. We had a total of 8 anglers and already have 12 paid in for next season. It is a club dedicated to learning and growing to sport. We have people of all skill level from new to bass fishing to NPFL anglers as well as ages. If you are looking for a local club that wont break the bank and just goes out to have fun and help anglers grow check them out on Facebook.
  7. In still on the fence when it comes to spawn fishing. But I do believe there needs to be regulations on tournaments. Meaning there is a lake near me that hosts 3-5 tournaments a weekend every weekend from May to September. And not because of the quality of fish but because we are limited in lakes of decent size in my area. And when your holding 50-60 events a year on one lake I bet that mortality rate is above average.
  8. Yep, had the same situation. What I have learned in my Co career is the higher the competition the better the experience. I fished in local clubs, BFL, Costa, ABA and BASS. Almost all of my "conflicts" came in local clubs and BFLs. I find that their egos are bigger than their skills and once a Co gets on fish you're the reason they aren't catching fish. As for this situation I still stand by my beliefs that if the boater doesn't vocalize his intentions once the spot passes the center console its fair game to me. I also believe their needs to be give and take from both ends. Yes its probably good to ask but at the same time the Co paid to fish to and as a boater you willingly opened your boat up therefore the Co shouldn't have to ask permission to fish water (behind the center console). On the flip side as a boater if you have a specific game plan for a creek just vocalize so everyone is on the same page.
  9. I've had two tournaments in the last 3 weeks and another this Sunday. The Rona hasn't stopped me.
  10. TW only has staff there a couple times a week as they are not technically open. They are also shipping smaller orders first before bigger ones. I placed a small order and got it in about a week. I also placed a $600 order of cranks and jigs and it took three weeks. They are just trying to work as efficient as they can.
  11. This sounds exactly like what I'm fishing. It has one "ramp" however its a dirt ramp. Electric motor only lake as well. I will be fishing from a boat. I'm only interested in this particular water because I keep hearing stories about some really good sized fish in there.
  12. I found a lake that takes me out of my comfort zone. As you can see in the picture it's a clear, deep lake and those weeds and vegetation cover the entire lake. This photo was three feet from shore and sitting in 12' the shoreline starts at 3'. Not any shallow areas. What would you use to fish a deep clear lake with such heavy submerged vegetation? The bass are also in pre-spawn up here.
  13. This was my thought and what prompted me to ask here. Every water I fish has a combination of Pike, Musky, Walleye, Saugeye. When I heard he only carries 2 of everything I thought I would be able to fish an entire day with all the bite offs or even break offs from the dang muscles and shells on the bottom of most of my water.
  14. So I have a bad habit of weighing my boat down with all my tackle. The last thing I want is to need a bait that is sitting in my garage. Well doing some organizing and decluttering over the last couple weeks I really want to take less tackle with me. I don't think I really need 100+ crankbaits with me. So I started watching tackle organization videos on youtube and one video said he only carries 2 of the same bait and color at a time, i.e. 2 1.5 squarebills in sexy shad, 2 packs of green pumpkin senkos, etc. So my question to you all is how many of a specific bait and color do you keep on your boat while fishing?
  15. By far my favorite squarebill. I hope these new ones are just as good. If they are my wallet is going to hurt for a little while. However the squarebills in the BPS flyer are not the same. Those are the cranks from the other "Excalibur" company.
  16. I have some Planos that I have used for at least 10 years. Still holding strong. As long as they aren't broken I use them. Be carful putting wet baits in your trays, that's how they rust.
  17. I was torn between recently. Went to my local BPS and actually walked out with a Legalis. It was smoother and felt better than the Tat and was half the price.
  18. Sorry I forgot about what you were using for. I would change my suggestion to the Lews Speed Spin 10 for ultra light fishing.
  19. If I am going to go $50 I would go with the Lews MAch Smash. I have the Speed Spin and Custom Pro. Lews are very underrated in the spinning reel market. Like has been stated before Pfluegar changed their lineup and their reels do not seem as nice as the were once before.
  20. Getting the product has never been an issue. Its customer expectation that is the issue. Fishing Care Package has them list as "Revo S" and people just assume its the latest version and it is NOT. Just by looking at the pictures the company has tells you they are old back stock of the Gen 3 Revo S and their description even says its back stock. Most people are complaining when they get it and realize it isn't the newest S with mag brakes and better QC.
  21. https://calcoastfishing.com/collections/tackle-products/products/battle-box The Cal Coast Battle Box is the best way to keep terminal. I can keep everything in separate canisters and pull the canisters I'm using out and put in my pocket. Never have to worry about dividers moving on me. It also comes with round labels to put on the top of the canisters so you can easily see what each on has.
  22. I fished as a co angler for a handful of years and was very unsuccessful at it but when I bought my first boat I started placing decently and getting paid out. The difference for me was what this topic is all about. As a co 90% of my boaters wanted to pitch and flip as fast as the pros. Trolling motor on the highest setting if they were getting bit on the fall they would reel in and move on. For me I sit and dissect every angle of the cover. I am leaving my bait in the area for a longer period of time and working it all the way back to me. I will also make multiple casts into the same cover. For me multiple casts into the same cover and taking my time in each cover has produced bigger fish as well.
  23. A lot of fish farms here in Ohio have went under. The few that have survived did so by changing the types of fish they raised. They have very small holding tanks that are stock with the usual suspects (bass, bluegill, minnow, crappie, etc) but their money makers are on the unusual species for this area (Freshwater shrimp, freshwater lobster, tilapia, different species of card). Both farms I am referring to also specialize more in pond management as well. Just selling fish to pond owners are not going to pay the bills.
  24. My favorite shakey head setup is as follow: The Woo Tungsten shakey head jig with a Grande Bass Air Tail rattler or Zoom Trick Worm. With the Woo jig head it will fall more vertical and stand on its head for a few seconds before falling flat. If you use the Air Tail worm though even when the rig is laying flat the tip of the tail will float slightly. Plus when you hop it with either worm it will settle head first again before slowly falling flat.
  25. Click-N-Ship is everyone's friend. Seriously you get cheaper postage no matter what you are shipping plus you schedule your mail carrier to pick up the package. I run a small soft plastic business out of my house and every label comes from either Paypal Shipping or Click-N-Ship. Then I set a pickup date and leave the packages on my porch when I drive off to work. When the carrier delivers my mail she grabs the packages I have waiting for her on my porch. Fast, easy, cheaper and never have to go into a post office again.
