  1. When I'm throwing into thick matted grass I ALWAYS use braid. I also use a 7' 3" - 7' 6" Heavy action rod with a high speed reel. But that is my own personal preference.
  2. Sam I know alot of people are asking for this article and I would love to have it also. I was wondering if there is any way you could maybe talk to Glenn and see if you could put it under the Fishing Articles on the site. I dont know if he will allow it but it might save you the trouble of sending it to so many people.
  3. I think a successful trip is when I learn something new that I didn't know before. I have gone out before and didn't catch anything and still learned a new technique or found a spot that helped me catch big fish on a different day.
  4. No I haven't but I may give that a shot.
  5. I decided to by a Temple Fork Outfitters 7'6" Heavy action rod yesterday to user for fishing jigs. I haven't heard alot about these rods but did hear that Gary Loomis (formally from GLoomis Rods) is the one who is making these rods. If any of you have any stores or comments about these rods I would love to hear them.
  6. Only one word comes to mind MASSIVE!!!!! Congrats
  7. I forgot to mention that I did see the Bass both times. It jumped out of the water and thats when the jig came out. It was about 1lb or so. I fished the same jig setup this morning and lost another one. After losing my 3rd fish I put the jig on a heavier and longer rod.(went from 6'6" MH to a 7'6" H ) This seemed to fix the problem or so I hope because I caught two 3lb after switching to my other rod. I totally forgot about trimming the weed guard I usually do but didn't this time so thank you for reminding me.
  8. I went fishing this evening and threw nothing but a pumping seed jig. I haven't thrown too many jigs in the past and wanted to practice. I came up on a tree that had fallen into the water and pitched my jig next to it and worked it along side of the tree. I got a bite but didn't get a good enough hook. So I through back into the same spot. I got a bite again this time I dropped my rod tip reeled up the slack and set the hook pretty hard. It came off again. What am I doing wrong and what can I do to fix it?
  9. I haven't seen Classic Patterns. Can you get it on DVD?
  10. I enjoy watching The Bass Pro's as well. It has been educational and helped me out on the water a time or two.
  11. As do I... and also thank you back water for your support and help.
  12. I have been think alot here lately on whether or not to join a bass club. I this fall I am moving back to college and will be going to school full time and I am also in the Army National Guard and have to go one weekend a month to drill. I really want to learn more about fishing and I feel like a bass club would be a great way to learn but I'm afraid that I might not have the time. I wouldn't want the other members of the club to think that I don't take it serious. Let me know what you think?
  13. Good Luck Can't wait for your report!!!
  14. Your right evrglades I did lose sight of the reason I fish and got to caught up in the appearance of my equipment instead of just having fun. Thanks man
  15. I have decided that it depends on what kind of fisherman you are. If you are just an occasional weekend fisherman that just fishes to have fun then that same ol' line that you have had on for a few years is probably fine. But if you are a tournament fisherman you have to figure out which means more to you saving money and keeping the same ol' line on and taking that chance of losing that 1st place bass or winning your money back after you land that 1st place bass?
  16. In a situation like that you have to realize that this is pretty much my last shot and just fight past the pain..... I really wish that I could have seen Rashad knock Rampage out in the 1st round lol but a victory is a victory even if its not a very exciting one.
  17. As much as I hate Rampage he had the fight won in the 3rd.... you could hear his corner telling him that he had to knock out Rashad to win and he excecuted THEN STOPED!!!! I dont know if he just had no more gas left after he knocked Rashad down, but while he was regaining his breath Rashad was too.... That 1 min. - 1 1/2 mins. is what lost the fight for Rampage.
  18. I understand if nobody would be willing to take me fishing with them but really any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I have seen some post where people give away GPS locations if anyone has anything that could help i would be more then willing to hear what you have to say. Thanks for your time
  19. I appreciate it..... I feel alot more confident now and just hearing other people say to go for it has really helped.
  20. I appreciate all of the comments. I have been pretty nervous because this will be my first tournament out of my own boat. Thanks again for all of the support it was very helpful.
  21. I received my 1st boat last year when my grandfather pasted away. It's a 1995 Bass Tracker Tournament TX-17 w/40 HP mercury. When I received the boat it was in pretty bad shape. I re-did the entire boat(new carpet, all of the wood like the front deck and floor board, new trolling motor, new depth finder, etc.). Now that it is finished I am nervous to enter a tournament for the simple fact that I see all these nicer and faster bass boats in the tournaments around my local lake and really wouldn't appreciate getting laughed at because the boat means so much to me. Should I just suck it up and fish or would it be a waste sence i can't get to my fishing spots as fast as others?
  22. Awesome post.... you often hear about people going for a large first sponsor and this lets you see that you could be over looking a sponsor that you didn't even know was there. Love your posts keep it up.
  23. Howdy My name is Jarrod and I am currently deployed in Baghdad, Iraq. I will be coming home in June for 2 weeks and was wondering if there is anyone who is an experienced fisherman on Rayburn that could maybe take me out and show me a few good spots and how to fish them. I have been fishing almost all my life but have recently desided to get serious about learning how to bass fish. If there is anyone that might be interested please let me know. Thanks and God Bless
