  1. When I'm throwing into thick matted grass I ALWAYS use braid. I also use a 7' 3" - 7' 6" Heavy action rod with a high speed reel. But that is my own personal preference.
  2. Sam I know alot of people are asking for this article and I would love to have it also. I was wondering if there is any way you could maybe talk to Glenn and see if you could put it under the Fishing Articles on the site. I dont know if he will allow it but it might save you the trouble of sending it to so many people.
  3. I think a successful trip is when I learn something new that I didn't know before. I have gone out before and didn't catch anything and still learned a new technique or found a spot that helped me catch big fish on a different day.
  4. No I haven't but I may give that a shot.
  5. I decided to by a Temple Fork Outfitters 7'6" Heavy action rod yesterday to user for fishing jigs. I haven't heard alot about these rods but did hear that Gary Loomis (formally from GLoomis Rods) is the one who is making these rods. If any of you have any stores or comments about these rods I would love to hear them.
  6. Only one word comes to mind MASSIVE!!!!! Congrats
  7. I forgot to mention that I did see the Bass both times. It jumped out of the water and thats when the jig came out. It was about 1lb or so. I fished the same jig setup this morning and lost another one. After losing my 3rd fish I put the jig on a heavier and longer rod.(went from 6'6" MH to a 7'6" H ) This seemed to fix the problem or so I hope because I caught two 3lb after switching to my other rod. I totally forgot about trimming the weed guard I usually do but didn't this time so thank you for reminding me.
  8. I went fishing this evening and threw nothing but a pumping seed jig. I haven't thrown too many jigs in the past and wanted to practice. I came up on a tree that had fallen into the water and pitched my jig next to it and worked it along side of the tree. I got a bite but didn't get a good enough hook. So I through back into the same spot. I got a bite again this time I dropped my rod tip reeled up the slack and set the hook pretty hard. It came off again. What am I doing wrong and what can I do to fix it?
  9. I haven't seen Classic Patterns. Can you get it on DVD?
  10. I enjoy watching The Bass Pro's as well. It has been educational and helped me out on the water a time or two.
  11. As do I... and also thank you back water for your support and help.
  12. I have been think alot here lately on whether or not to join a bass club. I this fall I am moving back to college and will be going to school full time and I am also in the Army National Guard and have to go one weekend a month to drill. I really want to learn more about fishing and I feel like a bass club would be a great way to learn but I'm afraid that I might not have the time. I wouldn't want the other members of the club to think that I don't take it serious. Let me know what you think?
  13. Good Luck Can't wait for your report!!!
  14. Your right evrglades I did lose sight of the reason I fish and got to caught up in the appearance of my equipment instead of just having fun. Thanks man
