  1. Thanks for this post Alumabss, I have never used braid and the info helps. I just started using GAMA mono and love it. Low memory and high strength; however, most of my fishing is clear water lakes. I wanted to try Braid/Fluoro and was struggling on the application. Lucky Craft Man cleared allot of that up. Thanks
  2. PowerPro Braid casts a mile... Not a huge fan of its visibility or durability but for casting and stained water its hard to beat. So I guess I will try a carbon leader and braid, I do like Gama, low memory and plenty strong, but distance is what I need here. Thanks to all.
  3. I have thought about swapping to spinning gear, just have not made the move yet. Thought I would give the baitcasters a good try first. I never gave braid a thought. Actually I have never used braid, but I realize that is an area I need to grow into. I take it braid will cast easily is that right? The bottomline is long casts here for spotrs are very productive under the right conditions. Thanks for the input.....to all
  4. Noted, thanks
  5. Thanks, they do seem a little light. What bugged me is I have seen others cast a ton with one, on baitcasting rigs. My lake (Bull Shoals) can be ultra clear and when things are cook'n with long casts the spots come up out of the deep channel swings and drill those Redfins. I have tied on a black jitterbug but have not connected as of yet, but I sure like it.
  6. Ouch! I knew this was coming and no I have not taken care of it for a spell. I do have a relatively newer reel that is some better, but I am still struggling. Your comment is noted, thanks
  7. I tried a search but really could not find what I am looking for. Briefly, I would like to get longer casts from my baitcasters. My reels are Curado Bantam (CU 100B). The bait I am tryng to work is a 6" jointed Redfin over points near drop offs for Spots. I cant really state what the action is on my rods, they were custom made by a retired guy and are 6' 6". I do know I can get good distance when I tie on a super spook so I imagine the rods are MH or H extra fast. I usually throw 8 or 10 lb GAMA line since we are an ultra clear lake. I heard my reels can be "super tuned", but my instincts tell me maybe a 7' M or MH fast might help. I really enjoy this forum and love top action. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  8. I was wondering if anyone has some experience or leads on Solar 24V DC to charge my 24V Trolling Motor batteries. I am in a boat dock now that has some solar with an old inverter and the supply is not there for my demands. Its ok to raise the boat lift, but my on board charger is too large of a drain. So, I am thinking about a seperate system. Preferably, I would like to elimintae an inverter for chargng my batteries. Any leads/experience sharing would be appreciated. Thanks
  9. Well that will get the food chain moving!!!!!! No, we are moving ahead with a better black light. Me in the front and my wife in the back we need better coverage. Only having a 17ft helps, but maybe something bigger will come along some day :
  10. ok and thanks. I'll check them out Tuesday. thanks again
  11. burleytog, Have you used this light? If so, how do you like it? I'll have to call them Tuesday, I assume it will attach to the side of the boat with suction cups. It sure appears the coverage is what I am looking for. Thanks
  12. Thanks Big O, we have LED cap lights that seem to work fine. The one you posted may be better. Its a recommendation to upgrade our black light. We have a small one and I seen somewhere one that covered nearly 160 degrees and 40ft or so out. A little pricy and I thought I would see what some others are using. Sorry if I confused the issue.
  13. Guess we are slow. ;D Anyway, we need to lite up our flourscent line better. I'm in the front and my wife in the back, hopefully someone will chime in with a suitable recommendation. Our small lite just isn't big enough.
  14. We have had good luck recently with 3/8 ounce black/blue jig with blue twin tail trailer or black grub trailer. Brown jigs hooked up also.
  15. Hello and thanks for all the usefull info. I am new here and enjoy the forum. QUESTION: I am interested in a couple of comments on what night light is preferred. I have a small one and plan to upgrade. I seen one with LEDS, looks good but a little pricy. Tried a search, did not come up with anything. Appreciate any recommendations
