  1. X2.
  2. trailer hook with some feathers or flash, they hit that and they are caught, and then you can grease them.
  3. Tied a carolina rig with a pike rabbit hair fly(about 6")- floating with a tiny pinch weight at the tip of the fly. Backend floats up and looks like feeding forage...really interested to see what it looks like out of the bathtub, and in the lake tied to a line 50 ft away.
  4. drop shot stand out hooks- work well although I ds only about 5% of my fishing time
  5. "when keeping it real goes wrong"... in reference to a previous thread on the imitator of this jig if ya catch my drift.
  6. Sebile magic swimmer in bluegill pattern soft or hardbait.
  7. True, but I am thinking trailing it behind a heavy carolina rig or drop shot...
  8. Wondering if anyone has employed any over-sized flies or rabbit strips into bass fishing, using bass gear. It would seem a nice rabbit strip or naturally buoyant oversized fly would pair well with a Carolina rig or dropshot. Not really fly fishing country in my neck of the woods, but I have been looking online for some 4-8 inch flies to give it a shot on some of the more pressured lakes. Let me know if anyone has any feedback, or issues I may run into. Thanks.
  9. the line guides on the rod accout to the drag as they cause drag when the rod is lifted up (12-2 oclok position) they push againts the line and make friction which adds about 30-40% to the drag and when using really light line and a fish is about to break you thats when you lower the rod to relieve some drag or friction on the line guides making line easyer to come out..... i learned this off a fishing guide on youtube..... Im guessing it was broken at the knot since i landed a few small fat good fighters before losing my beauty sometimes when i inspect my knot after time the knot looks to have shrunk and the mono became compressed from being pulled and constantly tightened after catching a few fish..... how often should i retie my knots? which knot holds best and fastest to tie? NO palomar knots tho because they have way too much tag ends when finish tieing... I use The Hangman's Knot for all my knots unless im drop shotting I use trilene knot for most connections, it is quick and very strong. Also agree with others though, palomer is quick and a good knot as well.
  10. If conditions are right, put them on top water, noting is much more exciting, especially to a new angler. Also working the bait and being able to see it keeps them into it. Go with sluggos and swimbaits for sub surface.
  11. Thanks all, against my better judgement I just ordered some, all that talk of a musky bait and it got to me.
  12. sluggo top water. Anything else may have to know what kind of weeds?
  13. Booo the braid,... Feel like I am casting dock lines whenever I use it.
  14. lmao. I use 2lb dia braid. The small diameter is just as important to me as the sensitivity. x2 Since switching to a braid mainline, it is like a whole new world. I understand the sensitivity in braid is nice, but I don't use braid for anything but musky. I feel like I am tossing rope out there, even with a fluro leader. Confidence thing I guess. It is either 12 pound mono for most situations (have even caught a 43'' musky on it, no leader) or lighter if I am using spinning gear. I know I will get lit up for this, I just don't see the need unless fishing for money. Then maybe it is 20pound big game. To each his own... :-X LMAO=small rope.

  16. Wow, this just changed my approach. I like it, thanks.
  17. It will save you a lot of money if you use O rings. The Senko tends to slide up the line on the hookset, and you can catch multiple fish. I have caught a limit on one senko using an o ring, although that is not the norm.
  18. Too many, and most likely only use 1/4 of them.
  19. Only in heavy wind and throwing weightless do I use a spinning reel. baitcaster for all normal conditions even weightless.
  20. I like the look- I may give the green pumpkin pearl a shot, it looks killer. Thanks for the info.
  21. Wish I could help more; I put them on some spinner baits and they go through grass just fine- should be pliable enough to get through most cover.
  22. what does that change make the bait do, never actually heard of doing that and cannot seem to picture what it would do?
  23. Aptly named fishing, and not catching Do agree with the what you are confident in, guess that is why my search bait is a swimbait of moderate size. Good luck out there.
  24. Most likely they may scatter a bit and the bite will be tough. What kind of water are you fishing? Pond, natural lake, spillage, this may change the answer a bit. Best bet in my book is cover water with a simple search bait. Swimbait would be a good option in a regular size without too much flash.
  25. Yes, using the provided hardware, durability was fine, all fish came off one, of course none fought for long considering I lost them all. It may have to do with the fact i was using all the provided weights to get as much distance as I could from the bait. May try removing all but two.
