  1. Never have used the rig, but it seems like a great option. One question though is on line twist and the bait running true. Any tips/suggestions/issues/anything you can add on this issue? Thanks.
  2. Nice fish. Record will be back in Illinois hands in no time.
  3. I used the soft version twice,...killed them twice. It is now my oversized search bait once five are in the boat.
  4. Just had a thought as i re-read what I wrote. If i can get the bit weightless, but not on a jig...maybe I am fishing it too fast for the conditions...yet I do catch them with the powerbait...Back to square one...taking off work and heading out to the lake. Enjoy the rest of your day.
  5. I have a mixed bag on that as well. T-rigged weightless I can kill them, trrigged weight, too much line twist. On a Jig, i have been doing much better with powerbait craws. I will say, t-rigged weightless on a spinning rod (which i dont use often) is a lot of fun with the big fish that do bite.
  6. I fish there several times a week. Great lake. You have a series of blue dots on the big flat on the north end of the lake. Be careful not to spend too much time close, there is no structure however early and late the shad will get chased up in there, but nothing great. Also, it looks like you are putting in at the shallow end of the lake, not much action down there, I would not fish that end this late if you are looking for big fish. Put in at white oak instead, especially if you are trying to cover that much water in a row boat? Early, throw the rip rap bank on the north end, lots of grass is 8-12 ft water that forage starts stacking up on, move to your dropshot points next, and forget the flathonestly it is like a desert and very heavily pressured. Also, throw a big jig on the steep rip rap by the pumphouse in the day. Lots of additional O2 is getting put out there and can draw the forage in. To get to white oak- take the Hudson exit before the Kappa exit that would get you to the Campsite boat ramp if by 39 If from Bloomington, take Veterans all the way out to Hudson, than head to white oak. Please let us know how you do one way or another.
  7. Agreed it is niche, however. Kids do not have money, yet go to summer camps and so forth. Also, a newbie will spend a tremendous amount of money on all sorts of tackle, if the price is right it could also apply to shore fisherman that would like a chance to get out. I think the model is usable, but the profits could be so low you may want to do it for fun and not a 1099
  8. Lake of the Ozarks does not have any of these...they do have WAY too many goggle eyes though. They taste good, but love plastic worms more than the bass some days.
  9. Get a stout rod...that frog is BIG!!!
  10. Too close would be stepping foot on your dock, to do what they did while you were there. I fish real close to docs all the time, never been an issue. Think of it as the air around your house, cant get mad for a plane flying overhead. (sure, there are limits to that) I think of it the same way for water, the dock is your property and i respect it, the water and fish are public.
  11. I remember a while back a thread was over this softbait. Due to that, I picked up a couple of packs. I brought it to a local pond I knew had big fish since I really did not want to be throwing it on the boat yet, just was not sold on if it would be effective. I was bringing it through slop and over a two hour time period I caught about 3 five pounders, a six, and a couple a bit smaller than 4. As big as the lure was, it would ride across the slop, and the bass would literally come through with bone crushing hits. I can honestly say it was some of the most fun fishing I have done in a while. The baits don't hold up well at all, the glue they provide does work, but on every fish I had to put a new one on. Great bait to fish for money on, maybe not so much if you don't want to spend 11 buck on four frogs. Either way I am sold.
  12. Good news. Now hoping it really is the truth and it indeed is fixed...completely
  13. I caught good fish with the blade dancer around standing timber by just letting it free fall down the trunk...so if that was a "dud" and this is better than that, then it should be an ace! Just need to use it with the right presentation and, right place, and right time.
  14. First couple of months, the car seat and car can be your friend. I had a collacky (sp) baby....pure pain untill you got her in the car seat and driving. After than she was out like a light.
  15. 15, and 17...What, that is a sophomore dating a senior....happens all the time and I am believe I did it back in HS as well. Get off the kids back, he has plenty of time to be an adult in less than a year. On that note, Other. realize that you will be an adult in less than a year, and it is fair game for that girls father to really buckle down along with the rest of the world on you for everything you do. I have a daughter, I am just lucky she is not in HS yet, this could change my preception here soon.
  16. Rigged backwards it is like the flying lure? I do like the thought of this, not to swipe the conversation, but do you get significant line twist when throwing this? May have to pick some up, i like the idea.
  17. Any plastic worm in the right location, time, and presentation
  18. Use an old bass rod. Caught plenty big fish on them and they hold up fine. Put on 20# big game.
  19. Swimbaits, oversized bass jigs with hollow body swimbaits rigged perpendicular to how you would think. Honestly, I own $1000's of dollars of big musky baits, and never use them due to lack of success. My biggest to date came off a husky jerk. Pulled in a 47" Also, the most fun I have ever had was throwing the 10" sluggo on top water over weeds and crushing them. Most were in the 35- 40" range, but the hits were HUGE!!
  20. I don't know the name of it but it was a vibrating plug I saw at a musky expo. A guy I knew bought it as a joke. It would everyonce in a while just start to vibrate when turned on. It had no action in the water, just laid on its side. It looked and acted exactly like somthing from Adam and Eve website if you know what i mean. Fishing was slow, he tied that thing on and every two minutes or so it would start vibrating for about 5 seconds...That was one of the funniest days on the water i have ever been a part of. Many beverages were included, but I think that was only half of it.
  21. Mostly t-rig on laydowns close to deep water. Water seems up and bass are scattered on the shoreline again. Can't wait till the water drops and they stack up on points and so forth. A productive spot has been across from the dam on a couple edges right before the point.
  22. LOL. This should be awesome. Personally, when you turned 18 I would just bury you in the basement floor, that's how we do it here. a basement...Wont that take up have the state of Rhode Island?????
  23. How does one do that????
  24. Great looking jigs at great prices...Customer service is great as well. Go to the website, then fish with them. Just one of those things.
